When I did my most recent playthrough of Sonic 3 and Knuckles, I had these Sonic 2 remixes of the soundtrack playing in the background. Holy crap, it was like a breath of fresh air listening to the music with a different game's instruments! This tune ESPECIALLY benefitted from using the Sonic 2 sounds, because that bass and drums section at the end? That is pure AWESOMENESS.
I Could Do That But I'd Need Lots Of Help And Possibly Someone To Create A Sonic 3 Tool Allowing Mp3 (Like Sonic 2 Mp3 tool) Furthermore, Why not Sonic 1? I Think there should be an mp3 tool for all the gamesand im searious I would if I could maybe later? Right Now I Still Have To Finish Sonic 2 Revalations As Formerly Known (Sonic 2 Remastered)
Also (for anyone that's interested), The Genesis soundchip (Yamaha 2612), doesn't have set instrument patches (pre-set wave forms like MIDI playback). From what I had gathered, the soundchip receives some set values from the game ROM to determine the "noise" that the soundchip will output for a set channel when a note is being played. So, even if you could convert the MIDI to GYM format and import it into a game, you'd have to find a way to set waveform values for each channel.
Sonic 2 special stages 1-3 or maybe 4 are fine as Sonic alone. 4 (maybe?) to 7 are a pain, but nowhere near the pain of Sonic 4 Ep. 1 and 2's 5-7. However, I have played Sonic Mania's blue spheres so much that I beat all 28 bonus stages while collecting all rings TWICE or THREE TIMES.
It reminds me of the dream i had 9 years ago. Heck, if i knew why i remember many things I wouldn't be here. But honestly there are things that remind us of something we keep.
Amazingly, a dream this morning brought back so many memories of lost dreams... And remembering lost dreams and fears etc. is great, as the game I'm working on is based around them. Oops, spoilers
genesis hacks do not use .gym format music, they use .bin "format" music. they use .bin because the only kind of files that the disassembler gives and assembler takes is binary.
The only thing that would make this better is if I could actually make a good ending in Sonic 3K! ... In other words, I suck at Blue Sphere stages. v.v
SparkzzTheHedgehog when things get too fast, keep turning around (hold right) until you get your bearings, then go for it! Also, go around the edges of any square or rectangular blue sphere formation, they'll turn into rings
greenknight9000 also, as you go faster, I think your jump goes from 1 square to 2, but just barely. Also, the ring trick also works with the blue sphere stage with red and white squares, with the giant plus shape If you jump and press up, you might start early. Might, because I haven't tested it in the original game or s3&k, only hacks which all had this in common
hmm like I said I'm no expert on the matter, it probably is possible somehow hopefully someone can make it happen. and holy shit this vid has so much more likes and comments than the rest of them, you gotta comment my vids more often SonicKai :D
Dude... Why couldn't *_this_* have been the actual Special Stage music in Sonic 3 & K!? It's even happier, more relaxed and the echoey bits make various parts of the song even better than the original version.
Special stage 1: alright ez Special stage 2: alright ez Special stage 3: alright another challenge Special stage 4: umm how Special stage 5: OK WHAT special stage 6: HELP ME Special stage 7: DO I EVEN EXIST S p e c i a l S t a g e 8 : *rage quits*
If only the Y2612 was capable of more than just 6 channels (the PSG and PCM are not apart of the Y2612 chip btw). This song just sounds amazing with the extra instruments. Nice job Renegade! and King Meteor!
well, i'm no hacker but I THINK that Genesis hacks use the GYM format for music, im not 100% percent sure, and most of my remixes arent actually legit in terms of how many instruments/channels are playing at once, so most of them, real genesis hardware couldnt play back.
In the Classic Sonic series, here are the songs I like the most: Sonic 1: Starlight Zone Sonic 2: Ending Cutscene Sonic 3: Special Stage Sonic & Knuckles: Hidden Palace Zone Sonic CD: Metallic Madness (good future) Chaotix: Tachy Touch (bonus stage music)
For me it's: Sonic 1: Starlight Zone Sonic 2: Chemical Plant Sonic 3: Ice Cap Sonic and knuckles: Flying Battery Sonic CD: Metallic Madness bad future Chaotix: I don't have a 32x so I don't know the songs

@Jason Bratcher OK. If I were to choose a Sonic Advance stage, it would be Neo Green Hill, Leaf Forest, or that one music-themed level (Forgot the name)
In my opinion, Sonic 1 stages are not too hard, not too easy. Sonic 2 are a pain. Sonic 3&K is only tough at the last couple (I play the Sonic Mania versions a LOT). However, Sonic Mania's stages are WAY too easy. I can beat the 2nd one in less than 5 seconds.
I think totally like you...in fact I'm actually surprised by the result. It makes me want to replace the song of the game by that one and play the special stage ahahah.
The Blue Sphere Special Stage will always be my number one favorite Special Stage in Sonic history.
Especially because it is the easiest
@@CreamDollYT Yet I am best at the Sonic 1 special stages
I get addicted to Blue Spheres like it's freaking candy. Free play on Sonic Mania is so riveting.
Blue Sphere is just too damned good to fade from the memories of Sonic fans.
Get Blue Spheres
in the half pipe with the lower framerate
That's a damn shame. I'd love to hear this in a game.

I love the more prominent percussion and the better emphasis on harmony in Sonic 2's soundfont.
0:53 - 1:10 is flawless.
This is my favorite moments moments!
Yeah how did he do that?!
I like how this one sounds more relaxed and... tolerable than the other version.
i liked it too (thumbs up)
I could tolerate the original version just fine. And Besides isn't a special stage supposed to be intense?
Tolerable? Wow. That's kind of harsh.
That might be because this version doesn't speed up.
You'd probably dig the music from Segasonic Bros. then, although it's slightly too slow.
OMG those harmonies/layers whatever at 0:43-0:46... shivers down my spine
How many of you think this is better than the original?
I do, it sounds much more smoother and laid back.
Cool!
I agree
It depends.
Me
I think you're definitely better with the Sonic 2 soundfonts than the S3&K one, in my opinion.
TheToxic Avenger666 VOPM not Soundfont because Soundfonts are sf.2 files
I agree
I literally lose time when I hear this, and by lose time I mean litterally time doesn't exist when I hear this
+Nevetsboy2 boo
back from the dead in another body
The opening almost sounds like some corny 90's cartoon intro.
SarcastTM holy shit
@Jason Bratcher And Sonic 1's music is slow and lacking a little.
Sonic 3: S2 Edition. SOMEBODY DO THIS FOR SHC 2015!!!

Check out the Sonic 3 Complete customizer: www.tiddles.org/s3c/customiser/
Bam. There you go.
Shiny Pikachu™ [HyperTails] Thanks for the link, but my only gripe about it is the option to disable music and keep the sound effects is not there :(

The music not speeding up is stressing me out
1.25 speed. youre welcome.
Shouldn't the speed stress you out because you have the feeling of adrenaline while going faster.
I cant even do them when the game is slow!

Only the TRUE maker of the son would know all of the exact links to download it from.
Now we just need a version that speeds up as it goes.
Speed controls can provide the illusion.
I just said that!
When I was a kid this music was beautiful.
Now it needs those epic voice samples
Its all fun and games till special stages 2-7

I'm happy this will play in the build a bear workshop version of sonic. Designed by Sonic team.

I really like hearing Genesis music without main channel ^^
Now this is tits. Best 'Sonic 2' mix you've done so far.

Knuckles Chaotix: Metal Sonic Theme
Nice looking back at this. Now as a researcher of these tracks, my opinions have greatly changed.
Better than Sonic 3. Really keeps a steady beat with those snare drums.
Omg love it!!
Songs on the Sega Genesis have good basslines.
This sounds a lot better than the original.
can you do S2 remixes on chaos angel act 1?
What game is that, Sonic Advance 3?
@Jason Bratcher OK. If I were to choose a Sonic Advance stage, it would be Neo Green Hill, Leaf Forest, or that one music-themed level (Forgot the name)
The intro can use a little more work... But other then that it's better then the OG good job!
From special stage of MSHD
hey hey, may I ask where can I download the midi samples sequenced by King M. ?
The blue orbs represent sonic and red orbs represent knuckles. I get it now!

wow, so mystical o.o
I'm workin on it bro gonna do a bit of reuploadin today

If you want to make this get faster on the loop, just increase the speed to 1.25 then 1.5
If this remix only was included in the sonic 2 special stages 🥺
I so feel like doing an intro with this theme
amazing!
Awesome :)

The Sonic 2 soundfonts just have instruments that seem to flow better. Sonic 3's were a lot harder hitting.
This is fucking awesome
If only Christian Whitehead had put this in the 2013 version of Sonic 2.
Origins should've used this too.
