- Good news for all the haters! I re-filmed the hardflip skateology with some legit proper-ass hardflips. Check it out here • Skateology: hardflip p...
This is my Skateology video for hardflips. These clips were filmed at 1,000 frames per second with a Redlake N3 high speed camera at 1280x720 resolution. Skaters include Wes Wallace, Kurt Raymond (0:28 & 1:29), Zach Miyamoto (1:00), Dylan Phipps (1:12 & 2:14)), Scott Hartzel (1:49), Alex Knox (1:56), and Wes Johnson (2:26).
I literally had about 20 minutes of hardflip footage and I had to leave a lot of good ones out to get it down to a reasonable length. I wanted to show the two major styles of hardflips, which are the ones that are popped basically straight up with little or no flick with the front foot (like Dylan at 1:12) and the other looks more like a frontside shuv-it kickflip (like Kurt at 0:29).
Thanks to Dunian for the music. This song is called Mind Body Mind. www.myspace.com...
Kids are so lucky now! Back when i first started skating I was on the VCR pausing shaky ass VHS tapes.
Lol
Kids are striving to be as good as you on R6 now
oh hi macie, small world
macie jay out in the wild 8 years ago holy fuck haha
Omg its Macie J, 8yrs ago?!?!???
Watching these kind of videos help more than a trick tip, seriously.
Agreed.
Probably depends on your learning style. But I agree
Big facts
You analyze every single motion and frame and how the feet move and placement etc and apply it viola how I got tre flips
Yes
The road leading to mastered hardflips is paved with countless nut-checks.
It's worth it
true dat, but it's worth it
It’s not worth it.
If you get 10 bad ice picks money says you’ll think hard before you do it again.
Now a back foot impossible.
That is a rewarding flip.
With much less risk
Nathan Brame c o m m i t m e n t
dolphin flips are worse for that
After 20 years, Hardflip still looks so strange to me
That’s why it’s such a cool trick
this is a weird flip. my brain does not undertand the rotation
Its like a vertical front shuv with a kickflip in it lmao it looks Good tho
I just see it as a 180 kickflip
Frontside flip but your body doesn’t rotate
Its like half a varial flip...they make even less sense in slow mo to be honest...still cant fully wrap my head around this flip lol
I read your first comment after i said that and it made more sense. If you dont move your body during and fs flip its pretty much the same thing. But yeah weird trick always loved it
just understand visually what's happening is one of the hardest flip
1:12 oh my lord that was beautiful
Unitus Bright bruh i know i just saw this and thought the same thing
Fast Internet hi
@Fast Internet hi
Was that one even a hardflip? Didn't look like his front foot even did anything lol
@@spion098 i think its actually a pressure hardflip
Half these flips were higher than I can Ollie.
Nicholas Johnson a lot of flip tricks are easier to pop then Ollies
Hardflips in general require lots of pop
same.
my first switch hardflip was higher than my highest kickflip. its just because the way it flips before you catch it makes it go really high
I just LOVE it when thres goofy and regular clips,so everyone can understand the trick easier
2:10 the board tho lol
Lol I thought it was gonna break
I can appreciate how tough it is for some people like me to learn hardflips, but I've never thought they looked good. They look like someone missed their intended trick but still landed anyway.
Can we just acknowledge how good this song is.
ever since I skated on acid, I've realized that skateboarding was one of the most poetic things ever...the sound of the wheels, the *pop* of the deck 😍
Kail Habib lol wut?
You sound stupid as fuck
I wish I could do drugs and wax poetic about meaningless wooden toys, but every time I try to buy acid I either get scared because the kids that sell it call me a nerd and give me swirlies or my feeble mind realizes it can't handle such profound realizations about the world as yours. If only I could be as cool and deep as you...
Kail Habib that makes sense, psychedelics open you up to a new realm of perception and appreciation
skateboarding saved me when I was having a bad trip. was contemplating life and realized skateboarding will always be there no matter what. giving me meaning to life
The original hardflip started out as a flip trick in the 90$ when the board would flipped completely vertical..which gave it that name for it's beauty and difficulty
90$
Well it’s easier to do a vertical hardflip than a proper hardflip
Yeahhhhh!!! The vertical HARD flip is magical 🔥!!! The shovited hard flip is just cool 👍🏻
wrong
First hardflip done on film was by daewon son? And was dubbed the inward kickflip or something sort of like that. Completely sideways
for all the people that think those are pressure flips.
all those hardflips are set up (back foot) like a bs pop shove to let the hardflip's be more vertical and in that position you can't pressure hardflip because if everything would be pressure in that position it would look like a varial heel but u can clearly see the kick flip motion in those.
the most awkward flip trick
its not really when you get em down, it just starts to come together
Inward heel. When I can land that shit I will feel accomplished
@rocket grunt some people are natural heelflippers
@@commentcontrol7187 Facts!!!!! Heelflips is so much easier to me. It's hard to kick that flip instead of swipe back. Everybody learned kickflip before heel. I learned heels first and even today heels are easier.
(Im goofy, dunno if that explains anything, propably not. First when i tried to flip, i tried heel so maybe by that way it feels more natural to me)
@@commentcontrol7187 I learnt heelflips and hardflips before kickies hah
0:00 vertical pop shove it
0:28 hardflip
0:49 hardflip
0:59 hardflip
1:12 frontside pressure flip
1:28 hardflip
1:54 hardflip
2:14 frontside pressure flip
2:25 hardflip
Yeah but which one was the cleanest..
2.25 is a varial kickflip.
De La Rochefort 0:00 was hard
0:00 was a hardflip. Flick was just a lil bit late.
@@ROGUESPIRIT_ varial kickflips spin the other way so the nose goes away from you though.
One of my favorite tricks of all time
My favourite skateboard flip. Looks so cool!! Inward heels also. (Same trick instead of kickflip if you didn't know)
No buddy thats a varial heel an inward heel is a pop shuvit and a heel flip
That one starting at 2:12 is practically a pressure flip! Front foot just gets out of the way!
Thank you soooo much for these slow mo vids! I have even more respect for skaters now that I see clearly what you can make that board do.
12 years old and this looks better than any bigfoot footage
This video might actually help me learn these. The slow mo really helps break down exactly what's happening. Love these Skateology vids!
Hardflips are so Underappreciated fr ❤️
I got these a few weeks ago. Now I just gotta keep ‘em consistent. Such a steez trick. I love it
Best looking skate trick tied with a frontside flip too imo
The only reason I watched this vid is to try to learn hard flips and I see how they completely curved there front foot and just let it slide off. Thanks this helped a lot.
All hardflips, they are just in slo mo. Different styles too🔥
must agree ! impossibles are awsome to watch too !!
the quality of these videos is just insane
boys are doin HUGE hardflips
@troysfreakinawesome I found these guys on Myspace and asked them if I could use their music in my videos.
1:56 was the nicest one
When i was a kid it took like 2 years to i understand how the hardflip spins
All of your videos are so awesome for learning these tricks, being able to see see them that slowly and in that detail is better than any words, thanks dude.
Hardflips are so beautiful
PLEASE WHAT CAMERA THEY USE TO FILM THAT ?: PLEASE ANSWER ME
lmao dumbass look at the description
Icarus Shepherd don’t gotta be rude lmao
Dude with red laces just sends it and it hardflips literally
Thanks for this, just one skater didn't make sense, but putting it together from the different styles helps things click.
One those tricks I couldn’t get when I was wee lad lol but my school mate and friend always knew how to do it . RIP Jonathan Duncan
the best flip trick ever
This was super satisfying to watch.
this song fits virtually all of these videos perfectly:
Ground Up Sounds - Late Night Special
I did my first perfect hardflip today by accident. It felt soooo natural
Dude, this Dylan Phipps is sick!
How can people dislike this video, I guess they don't know how to hardflip
I have a feeling I may land this trick cause of this video
Did you do it?
The rotation is done all with the back foot, hold pressure with the front foot and release after the pop. (1:12)
Varial flip is always backside. A FS varial flip is a hardflip, just like a BS varial heel is an inward heel. Some people just flip theirs vertical (the way chad muska spins his FS flips). To make them flip and level out nice is harder and more steezy (imo) so the vertical ones have kinda been phased out. Kinda dates when u started skating. Same thing happened with 3flips. It's more popular now to barely move front foot, but used to be cool to flick them.
When I see him loft that thing two full feet up that's when I think, "Well, no wonder these are hard for me, I can't even get six inches off the ground."
2:15 is a pressure hardflip
Favorite trick right here.
And people ask me why I like hard flips more than tres
I like it because i can hardflip but cant tre
no, its just a perfectly executed hardflip. the board is suppose to be vertical when you do it , that's what makes it go between the legs.
Does a hard flip look like a big ass fs pop shuvit to anyone else? Or is it just me
***** really? I had no idea...
Thanks bro
Lol me to bro
Okay is ur profile pic u in a helmet thing if so I'm buttermilkbiscuits that just followed
andrew smith mine look like bs shuvs. Theyre a little too vertical lol
The music is making me tierd.
these slow clips remind me so much of TH Project 8. because it all looks so smooth an slow just like when you control the fliptricks in the game
great videos!
hardflip and f/s-pressure-flip has the same board rotation, So do inward heelflip and pressure flip.
The difference is if the flip is caused by the front foot or back foot.
Hard flip looks so easy, yet really hard to even get it to flip
you know its a sweet hardflip when you catch it with your front foot like in 1:22
My trick tip: Do a varial flip but pop/scoop the tail under more to give it a vertical half flip and you'll land a hardflip.
that's still a varial flip then.
In order to make any skatetrick look as good as possible, the feet should stop the rotation of the board. In many of those clips the feet help to complete the flip. Someone else agrees ??? Alltough all of these look better than my own hardflips :D
Better than a trick tip
Best looking trick.
Agreed. By far.
Forgot about Dunian!!! Glad I was curious about hardflips lol
Some of these skaters have incredible vert! Hops!
Real title: Reason why hard flip is the sexiest trick in s8boarding
Thank you soo much for this. I still had to put the vid in 0.25x speed to fully comprehend what is going on xD
I like how it starts with a front shuv and not an actual hardflip
i really like yalls vids! they are better than tricktips and your angles and HD are sick! i subbed :D
All time favorite trick.
To learn switch flip i recorded myself and saw what i was doing wrong to get the flick better.its like football players watching old videos of plays to see what works and doesnt. So i recommend recording to see what the issue is.
1:12 one of the best I’ve seen
oh snap look at those es accel thats a bangin ass shoe right there
0:49, rocking the e'S accels. Those shoes go all the way back to the companies beginnings in 95.
My pop shove its look like some of those hardflips. I noticed by filming myself that I actually kinda flick the board on my shuvs with my front foot and that the main difference between my pop shuvs and these hardlips is that the board doesn't spin between my legs but in front of me
I actually think this is a different trick, but I can’t remember the name right now. Where it does the same motion but doesn’t go between your legs
2:13 that was totally a frontside pressure flip, he didnt use his front foot!
yeah he did use it. so perfectly it looked effortless. In order to cause a pressure flip like that he would have appeared to do a heel flip flick
alex sailer wtf u talking lol
For a pressure hardflip it appears as if the person kicks for a heel flip and it flips kick flip.. he kicked kick flip and it flipped that way. He also clearly popped a front shuv instead of the pressure technique of pinching the board and the wheel.
alex sailer dude im trying to understand you but your english is not making that happen lol
I'm trying my best. a hardflip is a front shuv and a kick flip combined..Just like he did in this video. a pressure hardflip will flip the same way, but the most noticeable difference of the person doing it would be a heel flip motion of the front leg instead of the kick flip motion. He's clearly kicking kickflip in combination with a front shuv to make it a hardflip. If it was pressure then he would've extended the front leg in the heel flip motion.
The 2d most beautiful trick 😯😯
T Puds would be jealous of the pop these guys have
Your videos amuse me so much..it makes me more into skating.thank you for that.
Tony hawk proving ground "create a trick" mode all over again.
it took me 3 days to hardflip, if you learn to get the rotation, you will land it in a day, its not like a tre when it takes you a while to land after you get to rotation. Its really all in the front foot, that what gives it, its flick.
The shirtless guy seems like he didnt even kick it..he just pop it and then automaticaly turned into hardflip..crazy!
naw it means that it takes 1000 pictures in 1 second thats why the slo mos look so smooth and nice
hardflip is such a fun trick!
My favorite trick to do :) always gets a letter in SKATE. Both regular and fakie
The most beautiful, fluid trick ever?
@sk8erboy088 Dylan Phipps. He was going pretty fast when he did that hardflip.
this is the best hardflip tutorial in youtube:DD
i lernt these yesterday so clean
at first when i saw it it looked a really low pop but then i saw the rest and hot damn thats a high pop
this video is sooo good
So many pressure flips man
no
ND S Dont debate me on this
Indeed
+Geo Cucuta no he decided to pop them flick late to assure a cleaner land. I'm just going off of physics sorry
That board flex though!😅
Am i the only one who doesn't a "flip" in the first hardflip? (not a hater, i love these slow mo videos!)
TnTnx @ashomsky for this!I finally know now how to catch and land it!
Hard work, amazing Flip job!!!
2:12 this guy looks like he made the hard flip rotation with practically his back foot only., the front foot only jumps up and doesn´t slide on the board.. its cool to watch it
yeah just read the description, it was on purpose to show that
:10 to :17 i love the sparkle on the griptape
This is such a fucking greezy trick.
Growing up in the late 90's/early 2000's I had no idea what this trick looked like outside of stills from magazines. Getting back into the trick side of skating has been very rewarding after years of longboarding and cruising. Considering I just relearned varial kickflips, hardflips shouldn't be too hard, right?
