I wow how you guys have gotten better at really looking at a spirit over the years 😂 Looking back three years or so and not giving pikesville a fair shake. Cheers 🥃 to progress!
My wife eats peanut butter on rye bread!! The story is that I'm from Denmark and rye bread is actually the dominant style of bread. We love it and eat it, primarily as an opened face sandwich, with tons of different things like paté, cheese, pickled herring, all kinds of salami and sausages, fried fish, mayonnaise based salats, fruit jams and the list goes on and on. However peanut butter is not on the list, cause we got to know that stuff from American cinema and television, where it is eaten in a white bread sandwich with jam. We also have tons of different styles of rye bread, most are nice and moist, not like the dry germen style pumpernickel rye bread I have a hunch most Americans view as rye bread. So anywho, my wife is from Poland so she did not get the memo that you do not eat peanut butter on rye, and voila Bob's your uncle. I just stumbled over your channel a couple of days ago, cause your videos kept popping up in the suggestions when I was watching Ralfystuff's reviews (yes I drink and love whisky, so no worries about turning me), and I absolutely love your dynamics and humor as well as your personas. I started binge watching some newer videos, and not I started from episode 1 and I'm working my way through the episodes. You guys are my kinda people.
Lived in Pikesville growing up. Even thought it is now a Kentucky Rye, I believe they still follow Md Rye recipes. I think I’ll order some (and some Sagamore) for my Md collection.
July 3, 2020 - it’s interesting to compare editing styles between these older videos (minimum cuts) and the current videos. I’m almost tempted to download this video and re-edit it to see what I can create.
This whiskey's story is awesome(for me at least). I grew up in pikesville and ran into this rye randomly at an event I was at the Heaven Hill was a sponsor. I tried Larceny previously and loved it, so i went to talk to the rep about Larceny, opened the book, and there was Pikesville. I may be biased but one of the better Ryes I've tried.
Having my first glass of this now, I like it. I can understand how you might have got peanut butter, I am getting sweet buns on the nose and Vanilla and pepper on the taste, the finish I get Star Anise not bad probably better on the rocks than neat. Or even in an old fashioned.
I get a peanut butter note in Knob Creek small batch (mostly in the finish). Almost like the black and orange wrapped PB taffy you see around Halloween.
Having some Pikesville while watching your vid. For a split second I had peanut butter in the nose, no bs. It's hidden somewhere down there inbetween all the other aromas and indeed very volatile.
That’s funny because I got peanut toffee I think you American call it taffy or caramel anyway I also got barrel char soft cedar and cut grass or herbal notes and coconut. Best rye I’ve had in many years. Think the last 2 nice ones I had was 1776 and Mitchers and those were good too. As a Brit Ive been spoilt for choice with single malt and grain whisky but I’m broadening my palate and spreading my wings and you Americans are making some really nice whiskey. I especially love the Balcones range and especially the special release or limited release experiments as I adore those when I can get them which is very very rare because there like hens teeth over here ! Wish I could get more !!! Great stuff, keep it up guys. Cheers !
Wonderful drop the Pikesville. I'd say burnt tofee butterscotch flavours. Fellas it is great with cured meat.....and you really didn't enjoy it did you.
The best straight rye I've tasted
Why did the scarecrow win an award? Because he was outstanding in his field.
I totally agree that bourbon with a high amount of rye is delicious. Old Grand-Dad 114...an excellent example!

I agree! This one is an very underrated rye. More people should know about it.
Reminds me of xfiles where they haul a "Scully box" around for Gillian Anderson to stand on in sceens because of her hight vs David Duchovny
You mentioned you like rye as a component in bourbon. Could you do an ep on your favorite high-rye bourbons?
Great idea I wish they would . But I'm guessing they will never see your comment because this video is about 3 years old

Late to the tribe. 1,119 days late. But I'm here now. I like rye. I like you guys. Must. Get to. Texas...

I'll have to see if that happens to me!
Toasted rye, crunchy PB (peanuts only, no sugar) bacon, lettuce and mayo. Awesome sandwich.
Always good true reviews
Ralfy gave this a 90. I agree it is best rye I have tasted. Rittenhouse and Old Overholt are also great.
Picked this up tonight. Enjoying it.
But not as much as Daniel standing on a box. 😂
Totally got the peanut butter. Love it!

The white floating ball in the beginning is so freaky
Hey Daniel / Rex; 5:44 here's your reminder for an episode idea on the Tribe channel.
Is your ending saying from something or just something that has come about.
I love that they say "thank you hipsters" cause they most definitely are hipsters.
Just tried this for the first time from a freshly opened bottle. Smells just like peanut butter on rye bread!! I get it :-D
I need to drink more ryes. I like rye for PB&J, grilled cheese, and french toast.
So what did you guys think of Pikesville and how does it compare to other ryes? You never gave an opinion.
This Rye is all cherry coke to me. Love it. Cheers!
They didn’t really like it though
Yeah Maryland!!
It should say 6 years on the back of the bottle
I get a strong nutty note on the palate after taking a sip of water!
How things have changed
I got Peanut Butter on Henry McKenna bib. I also tend to get peanut notes in other bourbons too.
Whiskey & Salted cured meats nothing wrong with that...... 100% Agree

Rye makes for a mean Manhattan
I'm not a rye guy, but I've smelled and tasted peanut butter in some bourbons, especially Noah's Mill.
There's no place like home
Thats right Rex. Never thank a hipster for anything!
This is made from the rye grass seeds.
🥃😎
Half Apple American Whiskey
so VERY wrong - peanut butter on hot buttered rye toast is the BEST
