Johnny you've came along so far and I'm proud of all you guys. I remember when I first discovered y'all on Onimusha SGB gameplay and Donkey Kong country gameplay. lol you guys are awesome. I got so many memories with you guys and we've never met in person.
+Louis Thrift cause obviously Saturn didn't do very well in the west in fact barely people know that console exist at all N64 and PS1 dominated the entire era.
+Klonoahedgehog no it's worse than that Saturn barely get recognized in the west until much later not to mention terrible marketing plan on Sega (release 32X, release the console as soon as it reveal) it nearly killed Sega console marketing until Dreamcast nail the coffin.
This was a great time to be had! Seriously, this was a lot of fun to watch. I'm not the biggest fan of fighting games, but dang did that look fun(also, this was HILARIOUS...just...beautiful)! ;3
_"...for the arcade..."_ *FUN FACT:* The system used in video game arcades for this game was the *CP System II* (or CPS-2), which is the same system used as a platform for games like Super Street Fighter II, the Street Fighter Alpha series, the Darkstalkers series, X-Men: Children of the Atom, Marvel Super Heroes, Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo, Super Gem Fighter Mini Mix (a.k.a. Pocket Fighter), Giga Wing and the next two games in what was to become the Marvel vs Capcom series. (Those, of course, being Marvel Super Heroes vs Street Fighter and Marvel vs Capcom: Clash of Super Heroes.)
X-Men vs Street Fighter holds a special place in my heart because it's the only arcade fighter I've played on an actual arcade machine. My brothers and I used to play it all the time at a diner we visited every weekend years ago.
Picked up the X-men 97 arcade machine that comes with this game the other MVC games, children of the atom and a couple other titles and am going back to watch some smackdown Sundays. I’ve wanted this game for so long thanks to this video and I am very much enjoying the arcade cabinet! Thanks for all the fun memories guys! ❤️
In terms of tier-lists all you gotta know is that Sabertooth turns this game into kindergarten. Just look up Maximilian Dood's matches on Fightcade. Those Sabertooth's go nuts!
God I remember when at my laundry mat at my Middle School. A few kids I knew always played this game. 25 cent all going down. It was the only machine that stayed, while one other got replaced. It was so much fun, but one kid just kept beating the arcade so many times. So whenever someone fought him he won. :D This brings back huge memories.
Easy tip for Johnny on doing air combos in the sprite based MVC games. After you hit the launcher, inmediatley follow up with up (just up, don't do a super jump) to launch besides your oponnent. Hope it helps.
Hey, Johnny, since air combos are my favorite part of these games, i can tell u that they are easy to follow up. They are basically dial-a-combos á la Darkstalkers and SFA1. When you meet your opponent in the air, start with your weakest punch, then hit every button in order until you end with either heavy punch or heavy kick to send then back to the ground. Once you get the hang of it, you can start adding special moves and hyper combos into the mix. Some air combos are harder to execute, however, because some characters are stiff...like Gin for instance.
Very nice video! And that was some really nice Nash gameplay, Though not enough air grabbing into suplex's. (Really though that was fun to watch and I plan on using those Nash combos.
Johnny I liked Th PS1 version of the game :( i prefer one on one matches i cared more about being able to put X-men and street fighter characters in a match my main focus i know its inferior to arcade but i still love it :(
I was amazed to find this game at the Musée Mécanique in SF, mainly because I never knew it was there despite having gone there since I was a kid. A shame one of the joysticks doesn't seem to be in ideal condition, I swear the P1 stick isn't as good as the P2 stick.
I actually got to play the Arcade version a while back when I was riding the Greyhound Lines back to Colorado, it was in a bus station in Billings, MT and I swear I spent half a roll of quarters playing that between smoke breaks while waiting for my next bus. Arcade and Saturn versions are best on this.
I love games with Sprites more than models because while I love the detail into models, animation is what gets me the most, which is why I love Arc System Works games. At the same time, to counter what I just said, Fighter Z's models made to look like sprites is lovely
For those who don't know. Eliza, who is Ken's wife, is the younger sister of Guile's wife (I forgot her name), thus making Guile and Ken Brother in Laws. And yes, they can't stand each other
I love how they keep talking about comic book fighting games from Capcom, but fail to mention JoJo's Bizarre Adventure Heritage for the Future... even if it was the definition of a hidden gem.
Surprised you managed to get it to run with an Action Replay, unless it's an issue for PAL region Saturns, coz when you use a Action Replay to play a Japanese import, games like this have a problem running properly and one's like King of Fighters sometimes have graphical glitches.
+NewController01 In my case, the game won't even let me move past the title screen. Then again, my Saturn is a North American Saturn with an action replay cart.
+jdfalcon08 I think you'd be better off hunting down a Japanese Saturn, though in my case I had to have mine modded (power supply wise) after it popped when I first tested it
16:08 like Kings double strike and surprise rose in Art of Fighting 2 just kind of uncomfortable to pull off going forward-back-1/4 circle(down)-kick to initiate it especially when doing surprise rose when youre already at low health and if your too slow your wide open for attack
Question regarding X-Men vs. Street Fighter on the Sega Saturn. How did you get the game to work on your Sega Saturn? I have tried to get my copy of X-Men vs. Street Fighter to run on my Saturn with the action Replay and it has never worked for me. Did you have to internally mod your Saturn? or did you get lucky with your action replay cart?
To answer the question of who's new for this game, I'll say it here: Gambit, Rogue, Sabertooth, and Apocalypse (He's the boss of this game) Well MvSF didn't introduce anyone new, I like to see it as the X-men got there asses handed to them and Cyclops called in some favors but.... Yeah that's it...
You know, I have my fun with X-Men vs. Street Fighter, but I find it to be a hell of a lot more stiff than the later games. For instance, when i play as Cyclops, after I knock someone to the ground from an air combo, then attempt to combo into a super optic blast (the one you can aim in any direction), I cannot preemptively aim toward where my opponent is. He always automatically aims FORWARD first, which is STUPID!
Actually, wasn't the Gambit film cancelled or delayed? If I recall, they are making room for Deadpool 2 now. Hug-gernaut lmao. You win Elliot 20:08 - Chun-Li: "Oh, sh..."
I agree with Johnny. I don't really appreciate what Capcom did by releasing Street Fighter V so early, if they knew story mode wasn't even ready yet. They got it right with Street Fighter IV, so what the hell, Capcom?!

I don't know.
I've never played this game but now I really want to. Also about SF5, thing is that Capcom want to release it in time for a tournament which is not surprising considering the game is HEAVY promoted to the competitive scene you can't even truly enjoy the game without being competitive. As for the casuals....well....The TRUE story mode is coming in June..... and the price of the game should drop by then.
Ever since about when Elliot hit 18, the boy's comedy has been on point way more often than not and the dynamic between the group is so much the better for it I think.

this game is one of my favorite right here I can always go back to it
I was hoping Gambit's theme would get played in this and I was not disappointed.
The Saturn version required the 4MB RAM cart, which itself never came out in the West. That's why it and MSHvSF is Japan-only on Saturn.
+Tjoeb123 You must play the Sega Saturn?

L-Y3T Alpha 2 Gold came out a year after this game.
Hey, Johnny, since air combos are my favorite part of these games, i can tell u that they are easy to follow up. They are basically dial-a-combos á la Darkstalkers and SFA1. ITS MAHVEL, BABY! Oh wait, this ISN'T MVC? Huh. Well then. I feel like a dunce.
This is where it all began for the Vs series
+onesonicguy I don't care because this is the game where the VC series got its start.
Technically it was Children of the Atom, where Akuma is a playable secret character
Ultra and akuma was weak in xmen: cota
Ultra no in general X-Men CotA soft started the series
MAH GAWD that old school capcom intro is amazing, I love that one and I miss is so....sniff....anytime I see that one its like an awesomeness overload

I just rewatched Marvel vs capcom 2 and there they talked about this game...damn
First one I played and spent a lot of quarters on was Marvel Super Heroes vs Street Fighter
You know a video is old when they reference Channing Tatum as Gambit
And Elliot’s mention of Channing Tatum as Gambit aged well
I used to troll people with Dan in Marvel Vs Street Fighter.
Marvel vs Capcom 1 on the PS1 was how i got into the series. I wouldn't play MAHVEL in it's full glory until MVC3 years later.
The way you typed that sounds like a slur. Mahvel vs Copcam
It's how everyone in fighting game tournaments say it.
+RRaccoon99 Well I don't know a lick about competitive play with fighting games, so to me you typed drunk
the one thing I liked about Marvel Super heroes vs Street fighters was the secret characters
14:37 Much respect for John for knowing that factoid.

I agree with Johnny. I don't really appreciate what Capcom did by releasing Street Fighter V so early, if they knew story mode wasn't even ready yet.
They got it right with Street Fighter IV, so what the hell, Capcom?!
+L-Y3T I agree too, at least the story mode will be free in june(as of now), that's not an excuse for why shit like arcade mode is gone, but still.
Cammy has a new Sprite
im a little surprised that wasn't pokken this week, still cool but surprising
+sonicjms is that game have local versus mode?

+kratosgow342 Yeah but one player has to play on the gamepad to emulate the feeling of an arcade cabinet
i wish this and marvel superheroes vs street fighter were re released
