What a great trip. The part of Germany I really came to love. I didn't recognize very much in Karlsruhe, but it has been 60 years since I last lived there. It will always be one of my very favorite cities. Thank you, Niels.
Was the tunnel on Kaiserstrasse? I think the downtown was one part of it's greatness, with the pyramid and the Hauptbahnhof. I remember fondly the post war square cornered, boxy streetcars. They were great for getting around. Thanks for the memories.@@nielsontheroad
@@glenwitteman2585 Hi Glen, glad you enjoy these videos. The tunnel is called the 'Karoline-Luise-Tunnel' and starts on the Ludwig-Erhard-Allee and then continues under the Kriegsstrasse, which it then joins again Southwest of the center. Germany actually has google streetview again and Karlsruhe is covered, I'm sure you'll be able to recognize some places in the city! 🙂

And so in a few minutes you drive underneath Karlsruhe city centre missing the feel of this great German city. A shame.
Karlsruhe is quite a cycle friendly city, I suppose they invested quite a bit to try to make cars disappear from the city as much as possible ;-)
