It reminded me of when I used to work in a pub and people from other countries would order a pint of Kosciuzcko beer (named after the mountain) and pronounced it in such interesting ways that sometimes I couldn't even tell what they were referring to. It's pronounced like "Cozzie-aus-co" by the way. And regarding languages -- there's hundreds of Indigenous languages across the country but none of them are regarded as "official" languages by the government, and they aren't really taught in schools or anything. Sadly, most Australians probably can't even name more than one or two Indigenous languages, and are unlikely to recognise more than a few words.
Poland here :) I wonder if any Australian can recognize name of the mountain if any Polish person said it. It is the name of the polish hero and the real pronunciation is different, because even leters are different. It is Kościuszko.
The capital for the netherlands is only amsterdam not the hague, maybe because the hague holds the political power but no one sees it as a capital city. Plus the netherlands has two official languages: dutch AND frisian.
The US is a secular country (no official national religion), has no official language (although English is the de facto official language), and Washington, District of Columbia is the capital city of the US. Got everything right about the US except for the capital. District of Columbia
