Rita how is it unfair? so many kpop groups look up to little mix - because they are the standard in terms of talent and popularity. they’re the biggest girl group in the WORLD, of course kpop groups are going to look up to them and try to accomplish the same feats they did. and in terms of talent, mamamoo are the only group i could name they meet that standard. there a plenty of vocalists better than mamamoo but no group i can think of has such a consistent vocal line. even moonbyul has proved multiple times that high notes arent something reserved for the other girls. like i said before; stan mamamix, stan talent.

Damn i didn’t think Mamamoo was that good! I’m a mixer and discovered mamamoo just yesterday and i’m shook at how good they are and honestly i can’t choose whose better. Illy Mahli Jade also has a very crazy range. But Perrie’s range is out of this world. Whee-in is very talented and her range is incredible, but so is Perrie’s and Jade’s range. All eight of them are queens regardless.
THIS IS A PSA: I am ashamed of almost all of you. These two groups of queens deserve all the support. And what are we doing? Comparing them to bring them down! Why not just say that both groups are equally as talented? They are fantastic and they deserve the world. Mamamoo deserves to get big in the western world, and Little Mix deserves to get big in the Eastern world. I will not say who I think is better, as it really does not matter. I love them both and will continue to support them both.

Little Mix is more vocally talented in technique and such (breath control, vocal quality, etc) but Mamamoo is probably the closest group equivalent to Little Mix currently. I’m a hardcore mixer but I think both groups are great tbh. If I had to choose I do think mamamoo reach their high notes with a little less effort and strain and are definitely powerhouses. However little mix can also belt like crazy and are better technical singers that have more colour and dynamics to their voices which makes lm more interesting to listen to. Not to mention Im have rlly good breath control and support from their energy packed performances. From this video solely mamamoo doesn’t seem to do much energy packed dancing so I can’t say about their breath control & support. As for blend and harmonies I prefer little mix but that’s just the mixer in me lol.
@Becca Do mamamoo not support their high notes? I didn't know since I've never listened to them before or watch any performances. It's just solely from this video did I think that reaching for high notes isn't difficult for them. I have no idea about their support lol. But I wholehearted agree with you on little mix being overworked on tours since it seems that mamamoo generally has easier choreo, while little mix all have rlly good breath control and support and still sound amazing despite their intense energy-packed choreo and performances which is hard to find in a group these days. I remember when Jade got a throat infection from overperforming which shows how hard they work and how much little mix rlly gives 100% in everything they do.

I’ll preface this by saying I’m a hardcore MooMoo but I’ve recently been getting into LM which is why I’m on this vid lol MAMAMOO is famous for their Adlibs, as they put a lot of emphasis into interacting with the audience and showcasing their individual personalities (as opposed to many other kpop groups). The clips also seem to mostly be from concert stages, where they tend to do less intense choreography due to the length of the performances. If you look at clips of their title track performances from award shows, competition shows (like Queendom), and music shows, they have some more intense choreography. I agree it tends to not be as hard-hitting as LM though. I highly recommend you check out some of Mamamoo’s newer songs as their choreography has been changing over time :)
it makes mamamoo less advantaged because they don't speak english. they have quite vocal talent. they can belt high notes. but little mix has better technique and mamamoo just amazes me when they start harmonizing especially when wheein does a dolphin note. little mix is more vocal while mamamoo is better at both dancing and rapping capabilities. in stage presence, they are im the same level but talk about hwasa's presence. damn what a queen. Im a moomoo and this video really brought me outta my comfort zone. Im so used to watching mamamoo literally killed other kpop groups in term of vocals that i kinda crave for a real competition. And this video delivers. Both littlemix and mamamoo are queens. Collab please 🤣
No I think only perrie does I just clocked the rest of their voices are okay to be honest there is not much difference compared to mamamoo as a choir instructer I just noticed
I think Solar and Wheein match up to them, and I think they have more control. Perrie (Little Mix’s strongest) tends to trail minorly off key in her runs but catches herself and bring herself back. Her breathier tonal quality makes belting seem more tiring for her voice, from the observations I’ve made. (Please do not take this as destructive criticism).
Becca Hmm I agree that Solars technique limits her flexibility in the belting registers, however I feel she’s stronger (I’m belting anyway) than most of the vocalists in Little Mix. Perrie seems to be the one that overtakes her. Wheein tho I feel can match her, as she can belt those same notes and sounds more at ease as well. Dropping some weight from her chest register and dabbing into her mix contributes to her ability to do that. Wheein also has very wide range, and has reached the whistle register. She has more breath control in a larger number of registers then Solar, which I feel helps match her to the ability of the strongest singers in Little Mix. It’s hard to say which is better due to each groups strength in different areas of singing.
little mix have more diverse voices which is why they blend so often, they also have a slight advantage because mamamoo only has three vocalists. i prefer mamamoo’s style more though and i find the climax of their performances (where all the high notes are) more thrilling than little mix. i wish this video showed mamamoos versatility more, the majority of these were performances from immortal songs when they were still rookies.
Rita i can’t really compare their dancing because mamamoo don’t do very complex choreography so i haven’t really seen much of what they can really do. little mix is the same for rapping, leigh has done a few raps here and their and so has jesy but i haven’t seen enough of their rapping to compare to mamamoo.

Now, this is what you call a GIRL GROUP VS GIRL group, not a girl group vs a dance group. This is the first time I've heard a KPOP group who sings live and I am happy about that and who is a little bit worthy to be compared to Little Mix. But based on this video, I could say Little Mix is still the better one. Man, these girls are another level. But Mamamoo could easily beat any other kpop group with their talents. Incredible. I still go with Little Mix

jean capacio Actually yes. Moonbyul did not want to be a rapper in the first place, she was forced to, which leaves her in the category of "Idol rapper". And the little mix choreography often takes a lot more energy and includes pretty difficult steps in key parts of the song (like Jesy's hip movement during her Power rap)

But they only have been exposed to what has been preferred in Korea and or Korea's "technique" i would love to hear them do different variety of songs especially RnB. Becca you don’t need a super wide range to be talented, each member in mamamoo contributes to the group just like little mix. solar may have the widest range in the group but she doesnt have the sweetness of wheeins voice. hwasa’s voice is beautiful and husky and moonbyul has a deeper unique tone in both singing and rapping. singing isnt the only part of the group too wheebyul are an amazing dance line and the rap line is one of the best in kpop. theyre also super versatile, they have dabbled in so many different genres and managed to slay them all as well as putting out fun songs dissing directors for having to sleep in the car and each others heights. you can draw similarities from those descriptions and apply them to little mix too - theyre so similar in their music and personalities which is why there are so many comparison videos like these. little mix may be the industry standard but mamamoo has lived up to that standard ever since they were rookies. in conclusion: stan mamamix.
I wish you had included more acoustic versions from little mix. I think their harmonies and vocals stand out so much more when it's just their voices and a guitar. LM have one of the best harmonies
I like both groups but I'm gonna have to say LM won because they're so diverse in terms of vocals. Even their worse vocals sounds better than most artists best. Mamamoo kinda have the same type of tone of vocals.
Hwasa has raspy voice like Jesy Wheein has sweet and angelic voice like Jade and Leigh Solar has powerful tone like Perrie And Moonbyul have that swag while rapping like Leigh Both are diversed and vocal queens 🤩
I don’t think MAMAMOO have similar vocal tones at all. Solars voice is very chest-dominant and full. Wheein is very head-dominant and sweet, almost childlike. Hwasa is very smoky and raspy. Moonbyul (while not singing particularly often) has a very deep, dark and solemn tone. But each to our own. Other than that I agree that Little Mix is objectively more technically skilled at singing.

Honestly I madly respect both groups. I guess when looking at who’s ‘better’ you need to break it down: Belting, pitch, harmonies, range, support, breath control etc. What makes it harder to decipher is the fact that the members are not carbon copies of each other, and each shine in different areas. If we’re talking pitch, I notice that as a whole, MAMAMOO tends to have more control and trails off pitch less often than Little Mix. Of course, I’m not insulting Little Mix, but that’s what I’ve observed. And even in Perries belting (arguably the strongest singer in Little Mix) she tends to trail off in her runs and vibrato but always manages to catch herself and guides her voice back to where it should be. The other members of little mix also tend to have similar issues, and I notice off-notes more often in their live stages than in MAMAMOO (both groups dance so don’t come to me telling me that little mix does pls). In terms of harmonies, it’s difficult to say for me. Because both groups shine in that area. I believe Little Mix tho are more complex when it comes to harmonies. I personally prefer MAMAMOO’s, but Little Mox win in this category. When it comes to belting, I need to start going by individual members to decide that. And I think that it’s between Perrie, Wheein and Solar. Solar has amazing support in the C5 area and mid-range belting. Her chest voice is so strong, and she’s also capable of doing these crazy slides up when belting out a high note. I’m not AS familiar with Perrie, however from what I’ve observed, I think she has more room to move in the belting registers than Solar. The only problem is she tends to push her voice to extents that sound unnatural or potentially damaging, which is what contributes to the impression of more flexibility in those registers. There are multiple times where her voice sounds sort of strained (I don’t know if that’s quite the right term) when she’s really pushing it up there. Her voice is also considerably breathier (or at least has that quality) so that may have a factor. With that said, I believe Wheein has the most flexibility when belting and I believe she has the most control. She can belt the notes that both Solar and Perrie can, and sounds more at ease. I think a lot of it has to do with her dropping some weight from her chest voice and tapping into her mix as she’s doing so. In my opinion, she takes the cake in the *belting* category. When it comes to ‘uniqueness’ in vocal tonality and colour, it’s a tough one. MAMAMOO have developed fairly similar singing styles after being trained by the same vocal coach, which swings the pendulum towards Little Mix. However, vocal tonality is what holds me back from declaring Little Mix the most unique without further analysis. I believe there is similarity between Hwasa and Jesi (please tell me I got that right) where they both have huskier/smokier tones. Solar and Perrie do have some similarities, however Perrie is certainly breathier. Wheein is a very sweet and honey-like tone, and Moonbyuls is a deep and slightly nasally tone. Jade has a higher and sharper quality to her voice, although her tone is nothing too unique in my eyes. And neither is Leigh-Anne’s. I am not tearing them down, but I feel like I hear tones like them more commonly than those of MAMAMOO. I believe MAMAMOO take the cake for this category, but hey, you may disagree. As for the other areas, I’m not as familiar with them. I do not have background in singing however I’ve acquired knowledge from multiple sources, whether that be my parents (as they used to sing) or vocal coaches here on RUclips. Some of my facts may not be 100% accurate, but I also believe there is validity in what I’ve learnt. I am not proclaiming one as better than the other, due to areas I haven’t touched on and the fact that they’re both so freaking talented. Feel free to disagree with anything I’ve said, respectfully.
I first watched a little mix vs Blackpink video and then I came here and WOW the comments here are SO MUCH nicer! Also I didn't think mamamoo would have vocals like THIS, they are great but I just discovered them so I'm gonna say little mix because I know them longer
Both and each individual have their own special variety and range. They all complaint each other. Both has so much passion when they are singing. You can hear and feel it when they perform. Mamamoo fit well together. They literally have 4 different distinct vocals that are brought together individually well. It's like hearing different sounds of rain patterns hit the ground yet comes together near the end sounds peaceful. Whereas LM vocals are almost similar like an Orchestra different instruments but all loud playing together and still brought together as well. The only thing i can say about LM, Mamamoo has a one up on their stability and airiness during live performances. They are still good but you can sometimes hear the breaks in their voices.

I am ashamed of almost all of you. These two groups of queens deserve all the support. And what are we doing? Comparing them to bring them down! Why not just say that both groups are equally as talented? They are fantastic and they deserve the world. Mamamoo deserves to get big in the western world, and Little Mix deserves to get big in the Eastern world. I will not say who I think is better, as it really does not matter. I love them both and will continue to support them both.

Little Mix live Stating the obvious, it had to be said. But I’m just sick of people making comparisons. I love them both. I support them both. Little Mix is more vocally talented in technique and such (breath control, vocal quality, etc) but Mamamoo is probably the closest group equivalent to Little Mix currently. Can’t we just support them both?
I’m a hardcore mixer but I think both groups are great tbh. If I had to choose I do think mamamoo reach their high notes with a little less effort and strain and are definitely powerhouses. However little mix can also belt like crazy and are better technical singers that have more colour and dynamics to their voices which makes lm more interesting to listen to. Not to mention Im have rlly good breath control and support from their energy packed performances. From this video solely mamamoo doesn’t seem to do much energy packed dancing so I can’t say about their breath control & support. As for blend and harmonies I prefer little mix but that’s just the mixer in me lol.
@Becca Do mamamoo not support their high notes? I didn't know since I've never listened to them before or watch any performances. It's just solely from this video did I think that reaching for high notes isn't difficult for them. I have no idea about their support lol. But I wholehearted agree with you on little mix being overworked on tours since it seems that mamamoo generally has easier choreo, while little mix all have rlly good breath control and support and still sound amazing despite their intense energy-packed choreo and performances which is hard to find in a group these days. I remember when Jade got a throat infection from overperforming which shows how hard they work and how much little mix rlly gives 100% in everything they do.

I’ll preface this by saying I’m a hardcore MooMoo but I’ve recently been getting into LM which is why I’m on this vid lol
MAMAMOO is famous for their Adlibs, as they put a lot of emphasis into interacting with the audience and showcasing their individual personalities (as opposed to many other kpop groups). The clips also seem to mostly be from concert stages, where they tend to do less intense choreography due to the length of the performances. If you look at clips of their title track performances from award shows, competition shows (like Queendom), and music shows, they have some more intense choreography. I agree it tends to not be as hard-hitting as LM though.
I highly recommend you check out some of Mamamoo’s newer songs as their choreography has been changing over time :)

it makes mamamoo less advantaged because they don't speak english. they have quite vocal talent. they can belt high notes. but little mix has better technique and mamamoo just amazes me when they start harmonizing especially when wheein does a dolphin note. little mix is more vocal while mamamoo is better at both dancing and rapping capabilities. in stage presence, they are im the same level but talk about hwasa's presence. damn what a queen. THEY'RE ALL QUEENS PERIODT

I think Solar and Wheein match up to them, and I think they have more control. Perrie (Little Mix’s strongest) tends to trail minorly off key in her runs but catches herself and bring herself back. Her breathier tonal quality makes belting seem more tiring for her voice, from the observations I’ve made. (Please do not take this as destructive criticism).
Becca Hmm I agree that Solars technique limits her flexibility in the belting registers, however I feel she’s stronger (I’m belting anyway) than most of the vocalists in Little Mix. Perrie seems to be the one that overtakes her. Wheein tho I feel can match her, as she can belt those same notes and sounds more at ease as well. Dropping some weight from her chest register and dabbing into her mix contributes to her ability to do that.
Wheein also has very wide range, and has reached the whistle register. She has more breath control in a larger number of registers then Solar, which I feel helps match her to the ability of the strongest singers in Little Mix. It’s hard to say which is better due to each groups strength in different areas of singing.
They’re literally the same just from different place in the world. I love them both

little mix have more diverse voices which is why they blend so often, they also have a slight advantage because mamamoo only has three vocalists. i prefer mamamoo’s style more though and i find the climax of their performances (where all the high notes are) more thrilling than little mix. i wish this video showed mamamoos versatility more, the majority of these were performances from immortal songs when they were still rookies.
Rita i can’t really compare their dancing because mamamoo don’t do very complex choreography so i haven’t really seen much of what they can really do. little mix is the same for rapping, leigh has done a few raps here and their and so has jesy but i haven’t seen enough of their rapping to compare to mamamoo.

Now, this is what you call a GIRL GROUP VS GIRL group, not a girl group vs a dance group. This is the first time I've heard a KPOP group who sings live and I am happy about that and who is a little bit worthy to be compared to Little Mix. But based on this video, I could say Little Mix is still the better one. Man, these girls are another level. But Mamamoo could easily beat any other kpop group with their talents. Incredible. jean capacio Actually yes. Moonbyul did not want to be a rapper in the first place, she was forced to, which leaves her in the category of "Idol rapper". And the little mix choreography often takes a lot more energy and includes pretty difficult steps in key parts of the song (like Jesy's hip movement during her Power rap)

Personally, I found Hwasa's rapping still better tho^^ But in any case both of them are powerful, Mamamoo unfortunately is still underrated if we compare it to groups from big companies. ^_^

@Becca i think that probably a cultural thing as well. Mamamoo are great and given the chance i think they would do great things. But they only have been exposed to what has been preferred in Korea and or Korea's "technique" i would love to hear them do different variety of songs especially RnB. They have the talent and damn sure has the vocals the right Vocal range
Becca you don’t need a super wide range to be talented, each member in mamamoo contributes to the group just like little mix. solar may have the widest range in the group but she doesnt have the sweetness of wheeins voice. hwasa’s voice is beautiful and husky and moonbyul has a deeper unique tone in both singing and rapping. singing isnt the only part of the group too wheebyul are an amazing dance line and the rap line is one of the best in kpop. theyre also super versatile, they have dabbled in so many different genres and managed to slay them all as well as putting out fun songs dissing directors for having to sleep in the car and each others heights. you can draw similarities from those descriptions and apply them to little mix too - theyre so similar in their music and personalities which is why there are so many comparison videos like these. little mix may be the industry standard but mamamoo has lived up to that standard ever since they were rookies. in conclusion: stan mamamix.

I don’t think MAMAMOO have similar vocal tones at all. Solars voice is very chest-dominant and full. Wheein is very head-dominant and sweet, almost childlike. Hwasa is very smoky and raspy. Moonbyul (while not singing particularly often) has a very deep, dark and solemn tone. But each to our own. Other than that I agree that Little Mix is objectively more technically skilled at singing.

Honestly I madly respect both groups. I guess when looking at who’s ‘better’ you need to break it down: Belting, pitch, harmonies, range, support, breath control etc.
What makes it harder to decipher is the fact that the members are not carbon copies of each other, and each shine in different areas.
If we’re talking pitch, I notice that as a whole, MAMAMOO tends to have more control and trails off pitch less often than Little Mix. Of course, I’m not insulting Little Mix, but that’s what I’ve observed. And even in Perries belting (arguably the strongest singer in Little Mix) she tends to trail off in her runs and vibrato but always manages to catch herself and guides her voice back to where it should be. The other members of little mix also tend to have similar issues, and I notice off-notes more often in their live stages than in MAMAMOO (both groups dance so don’t come to me telling me that little mix does pls).
In terms of harmonies, it’s difficult to say for me. Because both groups shine in that area. I believe Little Mix tho are more complex when it comes to harmonies. I personally prefer MAMAMOO’s, but Little Mox win in this category.
When it comes to belting, I need to start going by individual members to decide that. And I think that it’s between Perrie, Wheein and Solar.
Solar has amazing support in the C5 area and mid-range belting. Her chest voice is so strong, and she’s also capable of doing these crazy slides up when belting out a high note. I’m not AS familiar with Perrie, however from what I’ve observed, I think she has more room to move in the belting registers than Solar. The only problem is she tends to push her voice to extents that sound unnatural or potentially damaging, which is what contributes to the impression of more flexibility in those registers. There are multiple times where her voice sounds sort of strained (I don’t know if that’s quite the right term) when she’s really pushing it up there. Her voice is also considerably breathier (or at least has that quality) so that may have a factor.
With that said, I believe Wheein has the most flexibility when belting and I believe she has the most control. She can belt the notes that both Solar and Perrie can, and sounds more at ease. I think a lot of it has to do with her dropping some weight from her chest voice and tapping into her mix as she’s doing so. In my opinion, she takes the cake in the *belting* category.
When it comes to ‘uniqueness’ in vocal tonality and colour, it’s a tough one. MAMAMOO have developed fairly similar singing styles after being trained by the same vocal coach, which swings the pendulum towards Little Mix. However, vocal tonality is what holds me back from declaring Little Mix the most unique without further analysis. I believe there is similarity between Hwasa and Jesi (please tell me I got that right) where they both have huskier/smokier tones. Solar and Perrie do have some similarities, however Perrie is certainly breathier. Wheein is a very sweet and honey-like tone, and Moonbyuls is a deep and slightly nasally tone. Jade has a higher and sharper quality to her voice, although her tone is nothing too unique in my eyes. And neither is Leigh-Anne’s. I am not tearing them down, but I feel like I hear tones like them more commonly than those of MAMAMOO. I believe MAMAMOO take the cake for this category, but hey, you may disagree.
As for the other areas, I’m not as familiar with them. I do not have background in singing however I’ve acquired knowledge from multiple sources, whether that be my parents (as they used to sing) or vocal coaches here on RUclips. Some of my facts may not be 100% accurate, but I also believe there is validity in what I’ve learnt. I am not proclaiming one as better than the other, due to areas I haven’t touched on and the fact that they’re both so freaking talented. Feel free to disagree with anything I’ve said, respectfully.

Both and each individual have their own special variety and range. They all complaint each other. Both has so much passion when they are singing. You can hear and feel it when they perform. Mamamoo fit well together. They literally have 4 different distinct vocals that are brought together individually well. It's like hearing different sounds of rain patterns hit the ground yet comes together near the end sounds peaceful. Whereas LM vocals are almost similar like an Orchestra different instruments but all loud playing together and still brought together as well. The only thing i can say about LM, Mamamoo has a one up on their stability and airiness during live performances. They are still good but you can sometimes hear the breaks in their voices.
