can someone tell me what the symptoms are for the alternator fuse being out? out of nowhere the other day my battery light came on. drove just fine as i tried to make it home to have my husband check it. about 30 minutes later my interior lights started going crazy. the overhead lights started flickering really bad. almost all the lights where the radio and temp controls are started flashing as well as the radio itself. the dash lights went off, the speedometer, rpm gauge, gas, temp, everything went off. Yet right before those went off I was getting a traction control light, the brake light, battery light still, and i also got a message telling me to check brake system! i was so worried bc i had all 3 of my kids with me. so i get the car almost home. my son had an incident and i thought he was choking on his chicken sandwhich! ugh! i of course pulled over, parked it, left the car running, got out and checked on him. After making sure he was good i got back in, car still on, but now i cannot move it into the drive position. So I shut off the car bc i couldnt move anyways, i tried to start, nothing at all. Called a ride... By the time they got there the lights started working a bit by then. We try and give it a jump and it cranks right up no issues at all. He said he removed one of the cables or something ( i thought u had to remove one of the battery cables ) and the car stayed on. I drive across the street, all lights go off again. i get gas and come back and it is dead. jumped it off. died 1 min later bc my kid opened her door and the light came on. jumped it again. i turned on just the running lights. it had just finished storming, it was cloudy, super dark and it was like 9pm... the windows were fogging up.. i had someone follow me home, and their lights kept me on the road. i turn into my driveway, this was less than a 3 min drive normally. Person leaves, all my lights are off. nothing works. somehow i managed to get to my house down our long, dark driveway with woods on each side so theres a drop off. ugh. the car dies right at the really small hill before you get into my yard.. luckily its all private so its fine there. next morning i try to charge it with my battery charger you can plug into an outlet. nothing. i get some cables. it starts up. dies when you take them off after a few. check the water in the battery. waters gone. filled it up. it stayed on a little while. but dies. i get a new battery. install it. now she cranks up and even drives no issue. i have only drove her once down to the store and mc donalds today. battery light still on. i can use the radio and stuff. but my husband actually took off the battery cable piece while the car was on and the car died. put it back in and she started up again no issue. all of my alternator issues ive ever had made it so i had to get a jump to drive the car. is it just killing the battery and thats why the other one didnt have water? ive only had this car for 2 weeks now. this is the 3rd day the battery light has been on. and last night was when i switched batteries. i will be taking it to auto zone for them to test the alternator later now that my husband is home and can follow me. he is only here until tomorrow afternoon then heads back to the power plant, 3 hours away. i dont want to drop off my car and have no way of getting it only to find out it wasnt the alternator. i read it could be the VOLTAGE REGULATOR????? has almost all same symptoms. maybe someone can give me some advice. im going to copy and paste this elsewhere too. i tried to cover everything here..... also, the battery i took out was from October 2020, thats what the pink circular sticker said.. and before the battery switch, and before the water fill up in the older one, there would be a very fast clicking noise from inside the fuse box located inside the car. only when i put in the keys and took them out would it do this. it stopped after a while without anyone putting the keys in. not even turning it over , just sticking them in..
2008 mkx battery was fine all the sudden draiin batt charged batt then seeing overcharge. Then sitting over night dead. Running starts going down crazy crap
So my wife has a 2008 her battery light stays on the dash I've replaced the alternator twice and the battery twice in the car keeps dying whenever she's driving it not right away sometimes it might take a month or just a couple of days but when it dies is dead
@@ieashaculver4497 yes I replaced the wire harness It was like 150 bucks on RockAuto it's the harness that goes from the alternator that wraps all the way around to the batteries
