@@teeser2436 It was beautiful weather this week but between his 12 hour days, my teaching, parent teacher conferences, and trying to preserve food, we are whooped! I still have 3 more raised beds to move and plant with garlic. That’s on our plate today.

I love seeing what you are doing in your garden! My husband built a raised bed for me about 2-1/2 years ago, and one end of it broke down. So I asked him to fix it so I can plant my garlic in it again. It did so well the first year! He's out there now, filling it with dirt, chopped and composted leaves, and horse manure from a church friend. I look forward to getting them out there. It looks like he is going to take until the deadline I stated to get it done, but it will be ready! He's a good, godly man, and I love him!

You are definitely blessed. Jim helps me a lot. I can do many things but I can’t lift heavy items. We set up 5 raised beds this weekend. That’s a LOT. I could do the sticks and leaves. But he had to empty the bags of potting soil. It’s just too much for me.
      Thanks for watching!

I can relate to the spreading straw that blows away and also that is not seed free and sprouted oats 😕 At least if you let it grow a little bit it’s easy to pull out. Have a blessed day as well. ❤

I also failed at laying out newspapers to smother weeds. What a disaster. I laid newspaper all over my garden. It took forever. Then I watered it until soaking wet. Whew. Finished.
That night we had strong winds. I found the newspaper everywhere on our property except in the garden. It had all blown away.
I guess gardening is all about trial and error. Eventually you find some tricks that work.

I planted 3 beds worth. I have another one ready to do. There’s just not enough time in a weekend.

My child is very allergic to garlic, so we dont have it around anymore, but onions too which is my fav! Luckily, she can touch it, smell it & be normal. It's a gut thing. So I'm allowed to grow onions. Yay. Your land is so pretty

That must be so difficult. I’d never really had garlic until I was an adult. My dad couldn’t eat it so I’d never had it. But I quickly fell in love with the taste when I left home.
Thanks for your comment and for watching.

“Hugelkultur” Great way to fill your new beds! What is the name of the black “stuff” you have laid down on the ground? In using it, what happens to the worms in the ground? A few years ago I set up several raised beds over a cardboard base then wood mulch on top in the walking areas, but now the cardboard has broken down and weeds are proliferating! ☹️ Need to figure out something better for next year (the ground freezes and we get snow here all winter). There are lots of worms in that ground though which explains my question. 😁
