Very peaceful streets, except for those major intersections at the beginning. Thanks again for your work! And let me know whenever you come to southern Spain :)
Nice too see Munich you have been here in Munich. I know all the places which are appearing very calm and relaxed. I am riding exactly on the filmed streets and places as all other routes are really causing to much stress although I count myself as an experienced city commuter. I hope you have some footage to show our infrastructure which is still the old type in compare to the standards which have been developed by the initiative "Radentscheid München" which collected 160.000 signatures for creating better bikeinfrastructure back in spring and summer 2019. Some routes have been upgraded to good standards, most are still as they have been built in the 70s and 80s. For sure there is still a long way to go, as the network of bikeroutes are still haveing way to many gaps. Everything is advancing really really slow. Way to slow in my opinion. It would have been great meeting you. If you come back let me know on some way ... I could show you around and introduce you to a lot of the people who are doing great work and trying not to lose patience. Tonight we are having a Party for all our bicycle fellow activists, eventhough it had been a day with some drawback. The decission on the modification of Lindwurmstrasse which is one of the most important streets into the city from the south, caused hard discussions between the different local parties on outr city government. The result is the the decission has been postponed. Very sad.
Yes, I had a fabulous afternoon riding a lot of the network concluding with the new bridge celebration out in Pasing. Unfortunately I couldn’t make to the party tonight. Perhaps we can connect on my next visit. Cheers! John
wow, that's a lot of cyclists for "we have to many mountains here for cycling" (a common complaint from Bavarian car nuts). Not sure, if all of the city is like this, but what I can see looks a lot better than my expectation.
And this is just a small sample from my morning walk... wait for the real video... it's all quite impressive... still, a long way to go, mind you... but impressive nonetheless
Let's say the cyclelanes are sometimes protected, though there seems to be quite many cyclists around anyhow. Perhaps the cars drive with german discipline.
If there are enough bikes and not too many cars then there is not much protection needed for the cycle lanes. If there seems to be little "free" space in bike lane, then motorists have less inclination to make use of the space in the bike lane, so less protection is needed. So it is normal behaviour rather than typically German.
Nice walk. Always good when on 2 feet to have so many bicyclers shielding me from the car traffic.
I know! Me too… and a clever way to reframe people on 🚲 as saviors rather than villains 😅
When we lived in Munich I rode my bike all over the place. The paths along the Isar are especially nice for connecting north/south.
Yeah, that is truly a special route. I rode it during my afternoon tour. 😀

Thanks so much! Yes, I’m long overdue for a return trip to Spain. Hopefully soon
Looks pretty decent.
Can’t wait to share more… 😀
@@ActiveTowns Looking forward to it (as well as the interview with Ashton).
I think you’ll be pleased - both were amazing tours 😀
👍🏻
🙏 thanks for tuning in

Exactly! 😀
2:40, the cycling path seems like a part of the sidewalk. Is it safe to pedestrians for cyclists to be riding this fast and this close to them?
Yes, it is safe. And it is the responsibility of people cycling or using other mobility devices to not put people walking at risk.
