- I'm delighted to bring y'all back to the Velo-City Conference and a very special tour I was able to document featuring Jan Vermeulen, the mayor of the city of Deinze, which happens to be located just about 16 km from Ghent. He is the type of mayor we all need to be electing to office. Watch and see what I mean.

Background:
Hi Everyone! My name is John Simmerman, and I’m a health promotion and public health professional with over 30 years of experience. Over the years, my area of concentration has evolved into a specialization in how the built environment influences human behavior related to active living and especially active mobility.
Since 2010, I've been exploring, documenting, and profiling established, emerging, and aspiring Active Towns wherever they might be while striving to produce high-quality multimedia content to help inspire the creation of more safe and inviting, environments that promote a "Culture of Activity" for "All Ages & Abilities."
The Active Towns Channel features my original video content and reflections, including a selection of podcast episodes and short films profiling the positive and inspiring efforts happening around the world as I am able to experience and document them.
Thanks once again for tuning in! I hope you find this content helpful and insightful.

It says a lot about how equitably the city enforces their laws when being accompanied by its mayor doesn’t help someone get out of a ticket.
Thanks for posting this video. Nice the mayor is the one who is giving the tour!
Thank you for tuning in! I really appreciate it, and I hope you are enjoying the Channel. Cheers! John
For a second I was impressed with our Belgium neighbours for having that cool charging solution with the kickstand.
Then the mayor mentioned that it was a Dutch invention, what totally makes sense to me.
Now I can look down on our Belgium neighbours again.
Hehe 😅 Yes, Tiler is a very cool Dutch invention, I believe from TU Delft if memory serves... Thanks for watching!
Thanks for the tours! It is great to see the cycling infrastructure in different cities. The city garage is amazing 🤩.
You are quite welcome! I really appreciate you tuning in. Cheers!
That looks like they've done a lot already. It would be interesting to come back in 5 or 6 years to see what else has been added.
Indeed! 🙌
No car parking at city hall? Imagine if that was the policy in every city.
Yes, for city staff. I don't that is the case for visitors to city hall, but yeah, very impressive. Thanks so much for watching. Cheers! John
That helmet make us not proud as a Dutchie 😂😂😂
Yeah, yeah... but remember my rule... no helmet shaming in either direction.
If somebody feels more comfortable wearing a helmet so be it. No judgment.
Notice his license plate, means it's an s-pedelec (45km/h max), making helmets mandatory
@@Lolwutfordawin een fiets die 45km per uur gaat mwa best hard 🤣🤣🤣
Good catch!
