Congrats on the new bike Chris! What did you do with your GS? Rich, are you going to get another smaller adventure bike?
The GS is for sale and Ms Alice is coming back and more Moto Camping. Stay tuned
@@TwoWheelsBigLife I already have 2GSA. And an African twin, I’m good on dual sport bikes
@@TwoWheelsBigLife You might want to sell the 900 and try another bike, the gas stops suck!
@@masterspin7796 The 1200 GT Explorer has a HUGE tank. Nearly 8 gallons and over 300 mile range. Might be worth considering. And no, mine isn't for sale!!
@@robspear6004 I did 308 miles on the R/T on one tank of fuel on my round trip to Lake Tahoe this month 80% was twisties/mountain roads I was surprised that it made it on a single tank with fuel to spare...
I would be so happy to see you people make videos again we miss you
The usual motorcycle adventure videos are great but the laughter and giggles on this video is contiguous and priceless
You are too kind sir. Thanks a bunch.
Honestly that Triumph is beautiful. I think it’s going to be an amazing touring bike. Well done on a great choice
Thanks So far it’s awesome
Riding around the country on a motorcycles with a beautiful blonde woman, what could be better than that? Your the man Richard, much respect to you.
Windshield and bags probably affect mileage some.
I bet that it they are big bags.
Hey guys! I think to millage quote you gave is published by Triumph and if do it's in imperial units. 55 mpg imperial converts to 45.8 mpg US!
That makes sense for sure 🤔
We rode 325 miles in 48 degree rain, followed by 35 mph cross winds for another 175 miles on our way to the Red River NM rally over Memorial Day weekend.
Just FYI
I owned a TT 800Xcx and had every single issue mentioned on the Triumph blogs. The electrics had gremlins (lights burning out and randomly dying), WP suspension rattle, etc. The scheduled valve adjustment will cost you $1000 (have to disassemble the bike). I also had a dealer tell me that the triple engine begins to loose significant compression around 50k miles. He also told me they had to rebuild many of them at those miles. I hope you have better luck with yours.
so far its been fantastic
@@TwoWheelsBigLife I loved mine too, just wanted a more reliable motorcycle. I’ve been riding my wife’s CB500X and it’s a fun little bike, a bit small for me at 6’1”. The v-strom 650 will probably be my replacement for the TT. I’m not going to be riding any single track just some back roads and another trip to Alaska (fuel range is key). Oh and my Tiger got mid to low 50 mpg’s. I enjoy you twos videos and travels. Be safe and happy trails!
I wonder if the previous owner changed one of the sprockets. Could be why your dash speed and fuel economy are off.
smart choice, Triumphs are brilliant
It’s pretty sweet
You guys are awesome, LOVE ❤️ your channel, enjoy it immensely, thanks, take care and safe journeys!
Thank you Saul
I would not worry about miles per gallon.Just have fun riding your new motorcycle.
I have a 2021 Tiger 900 GT. I get around 45 mpg on the highway depending on rider mode. The speedometer reads 2 mph faster than I am actually going. I have put 9500 miles on mine and still love it!
Congratulations on the new bike.
Yipee! Welcome to the Triumph family. With my big TouraTech boxes, on the Rally Pro, the mileage drops significantly. Cross winds are nerve racking too.
May that it. They are big boxes
Greetings from Australia. Congratulations on your new motorcycle. I thoroughly enjoy watching your travel videos, and the educational background and information about the various places you visit. Safe travels to both of you.
Welcome to the Triumph family.
You both look like kids xmas eve...most enjoyable!!!
Thanks JP
Congratulations on your new ride Chris. Have fun and ride safe.
Thanks Chad
Your welcome: )
Nice Triumph looking forward to see Rich's new machine have fun and be safe great videos !!
Awesome. Thanks
Damn I love my GSA. Power at every RPM and an almost unlimited fuel tank. Surprised myself that I rode 3hrs straight with it today.
The GSA is a great bike
No doubt you are right.
However I believe their riding requirements have changed now they drive and set up base camp, get the bikes off the truck deck (not easy with heavy bikes). So I reckon the 900 Triumph(s?) will be perfect for them now. 👍
Spending the kids’ inheritance!
👍
Congratulations on your new bike Chris.
Thanks
Congrats on the new GS! Love mine!
I KNEW you were going to get a Tiger! Well done.
Love to see you interact with each other
i love the new triumph, taking off a 100 pounds makes i big difference
Huge difference. Didn’t think so until we got this.
Congratulations on the new bike!
👍🤙
Congratulations guys!
Hi folks. Just wanted to share my time on my Tiger. I’m up in Idaho where half my riding is gravel. I picked up a 22 Tiger GT Pro in April and have about 2500 miles on it. According to my dash I’m averaging 53+. I see your bike has a number of accessories and you might check your gearing to see if it’s been modified. Yes, the speedo is inaccurate on mine as well. Keeps me out of trouble. But certainly your mileage is an issue that needs to be addressed. Good luck there and ride safe. And let us know what happens when the issue is resolved. Thanks
Thanks Bob. We are getter better mileage staying off the super slabs and when we ride without the panniers. The Speedo I hear is off because it calibrated as imperial miles, but who knows. She does love the bike though
@@TwoWheelsBigLife get the bike to triumph before the warranty expires! Did you get an extended warranty?
Keep trying until you find the perfect bike, you will know. Love your channel.
I like that thought
New bike day, woohoo! Enjoy your Tiger.
BaB is a great way to meet new friends. Last summer I stayed 2 days with your first host, great guy.
He offered for me to stay another day and I should have listened. The day I left I rode through really heavy rain ( 🌀 ) going to Birmingham. Many cars and trucks slid off the road but the idiot on the V Strom 650 kept going.
We will and BaB is great way to travel
Congratulations on the new bike Chris. I think the Triumph 900 is a great choice because of the much lighter weight. And it looks so cool with all the great features. A very nice looking bike.
With the lower seat height and lower weight, this bike should be easier to handle in rougher roads
Congratulations on your new Triumph Tiger Chris & Rich! 🤗
Thanks 🙏
Nice new to you bike Chris. From the aviation world double the speed, drag increases by times 4. That’s where your fuel is going, on the interstate your higher speed is increasing the drag by the square which needs more throttle to maintain your ground speed. Your fuel consumption always goes up if you ride into a headwind as the drag is an airspeed relationship as opposed to a ground speed. Plus those huge boxes sitting out in the wind take a lot of fuel to push through the air. Keep those great videos coming👍
I'd agree with this completely. I'm in the UK and ride a VStrom 650. Fully loaded with panniers and bags in Scotland last year on twisty roads I was getting into the low 70's mpg (UK gallons). On a recent trip to the East of the UK I spent half the day on highway type roads, battling a strong headwind and was down to around 64 mpg. Also the E10 (10% ethanol) petrol over here also has an effect and lowers gas mileage.
@@neilmackinnon3371 yup, about 55mph airspeed is a sweet spot for big draggy adventure bikes, any more airspeed needs more power hence less mpg. Riding into a 5mph headwind @ 55mph ground speed needs the same power as riding at 60mph (not accounting wheel rotation drag increases, surface friction changes etc etc) Short on gas to get to your destination? Slow down a bit and you increase your ground mpg by reducing air drag. Got a tail wind, speed up for the same mpg or slow down to hugely improve mpg. ( but where’s the fun in that). Or should we actually just use spg (smiles per gallon) for motorcycles.
@@beachside180 I get much higher SPG on twisties than on highway.
Chris-I was feeling a kindred spirit with you today. We stopped at my favourite local waterfall and I had my “2 wheels” t-shirt on!
Hi Both.
I live in the UK and hope your safe and well. I have a tiger 800xca and just done a 1900 mile trip from my home in Wales to Scotland and back.
With full panniers and top box one up I got 74mpg and that was with 40% motorway riding at about 70mph
Welcome to the Triumph Family Chris!!!! I own 2 Triumphs. Be prepared to be talked to by every older gentleman saying "Damn they never built a Triumph like that when i learned to ride" !!!! Congratulations on the new ride !!!!!
Yes so far this is the case
I have a bonny T100 and love it. Never have any issues. Welcome to the Triumph family.
Thanks we love it
Congratulations. I never understood why you had such big bikes when you towed them and then did local tours. I actually think you should have gone smaller such as a 300 or 500 cc bike if your wanting to have fun and explore off road places. Wishing you both the best. 🤗
I have a 2020 tiger 1200 and get about 42MPGs indicated, but I put that down to aggressive driving. I don't have panniers installed, but I do have a taller windscreen. It's better than the 13.5 I get in my truck.
Congrats Chris on the new bike. I hoped it was the Tiger. It's an awesome bike even though I just became a 1250 GS owner. You both are great and look forward to watching your next adventures.
Thanks
Good thing for bunk a biker..Tennessee just made it a felony to stealth camp in the state..buggers to them.
I heard that. crazy
Excellent choice
Congratulations, God's blessings for many happy and safe miles on your new ride. Remember another life time ago HD and Triumphs ruled Japanese bikes started to become popular and controls were different. After many accidents they made it standard were the controls were to be. Made riding different bikes more enjoyable and saved many life's
Thanks Frank.
Yay!!
Nice triumph, Chris.
🙏🙏
Thanks.
You guys need the new HD Pan America, great bike!!!
ride safe guys!!!!
Fab! Nice machine. You’ll love it. Chain maintenance isn’t too bad with the center stand. Safe travels.
So far chain Maintenance is easy.
Congrats on the new to you ride!!
Thanks! ✌🏻🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Thanks Bernie. Are you getting out this summer.
@@TwoWheelsBigLife yes next Sat. heading up to Lake George NY for Americade Touring Rally! A group off 10 riding for 4 days! In the Adirondacks
Nice. We are gonna try and mike it to Virginia.
Welcome to the Triumph family I have a 2021 Tiger but it’s the 850 sport and I love it .. It says I get between 40 to 50 miles per gallon depending on how I drive it obviously ..
She loves it
Great bike Chris! One thing I recommend is changing out the factory crash bars for aftermarket ones like Heed or another brand. The factory ones don't take well to a good drop, and there is a forward mounting tab that has been prone to breaking off of the motor in a good drop that can't be repaired. Enjoying the channel here in Ky. Be safe and have a great time!
Chris and Rich, can you go a vlog about the Triumph ownership experience? Maintenance, mpg, reliability, chain and tire life,,,,,,etc? Thanks , BB
Congrats on the new bike. My Wife fell in love with the 900GT Pro too and now has a 2022 in the garage and just finished her first multiday, multistate ride on it.
That is awesome!
The 900 is a great bike but they can be a bit thisty. I think you are going to love the bike.
love it.
it was a time don't see your videos, and now I found out u where in my town and bought the bike at my local dealer..(I get my tiger from there too..)
good luck !!
Congratulations on the new bike looks very nice hope it works out good for you you guys take care and ride safe enjoyed watching thanks
Okay thanks?
I only recently got my motorcycle license at 54 and my first motorcycle at 55, a 2022 1250 GSA for reasons unique to me. I found this channel shortly after and the comments of why you bought the GS's do appear to conflict with why you have decided to go in a different direction, especially so soon. I have enjoyed your travels. My wife won't get on a motorcycle so those grand adventures for us will be in a SUV, hopefully with my motorcycle in tow on occasion.
We love the GS’s however the GSA was to much for me and the dirt same with Chris for her GS. This triumph is about 100lbs lighter
Here we go! The bests of the bests!👍❤️
Awesome Lou Lou. Can’t wait for Mexico
@@TwoWheelsBigLife so do I! soon now
Congratulations on your new bike Chris! Freewheelin is just 5 miles down the road from our house! Great choice! Safe travels..
I’m so glad I found y'alls channel. Your my kind of people. Love your videos and please stay safe.
Awesome thanks John welcome glad you’re with us.
40 to 42 sounds correct for your new bike.
Newer it was used but still a 21 mod
Congrats on the Triumph, Chris! Beautiful bike, looks like it came well-equipped. As others have said here, the hard panniers as well as the colder temps may be affecting the gas mileage. Also, my Super Tenere's speedometer registers about 4-5 mph over the actual speed. Ride safely, look forward to seeing what's next for you guys! x Nancy
Hi Guys - I've put over 16K miles on my Tiger 900 Rally Pro in a little less than 2 years, and here's my 2 cents:
1. Not likely you'll ever see 55 mpg. I did a 460 mile ride on mine today, got 45 dog on the interstate (65-70 mph avg.), and 51 mpg on backroads (45-55 mph avg.). I have smaller Mosko Moto side bags, and a much smaller top box.
2. My Triumph Trophy SE gets almost the same MPG, even though it's over 200 lbs. heavier, and has a 1215cc triple. It's just way more aerodynamic.
3. My speedo is off by 8-9%, but the odometer is accurate. Pretty typical of any motorcycle I've owned. No idea why they build them that way.
4. Keep an eye on the chain when doing maintenance. At 16K, I think mine's about done. It's my first chain-driven bike, so still learning (the Trophy is shaft drive, like your BMWs).
5. Old men will walk up to you to mention that they rode a Bonneville in the '60s. And they're always nice!
6. The Tiger is an absolutely incredible bike! Have fun on it!
My Trophy SE gets the same- 45-50mpg when traveling, and it runs on regular to boot! I am amazed!
I own a Triumph Tiger 1200 and I get 42mpg at 70mph and 4200rpm. My sons 800 Tiger runs 5200rpm at 70mph and gets 45mpg. This was way back in mid April and as you know it’s memorial weekend. I’m sure you’re loving the hell out of the Tiger. How is the seat different? Ride safe and have fun. 🇺🇸
Thanks. We have found that out. Freeway speeds drinks the fuel.
I knew you were getting a Triumph 900! I knew when you said you were getting another what it was going to be!!!
👍👍
Douglasville ga., I have bought two bikes from that shop. Be careful of traffic around Atlanta we drive like drunks.
I live 1/4 Mile from that dealer. They have been in buisness many years with a great reputation. They used to be in Mabelton, Ga.
Just a thought...gas mpg may change due to new curb weight with added accessories.
Yes that could be Thanks. cheers
... love a Triple !!! safe travels ...
They sound really nice
that is a great bike, one of my friends has one
Congrats on the new Triumph. I have a 1200 Scrambler over here in England 🏴 so welcome to the club!!. Speedos over here in a car or motorbike tend to be 4/5 miles an hour faster than your true speed shown on the Sat Nav. As for mileage, speeds over 70mph will reduce your average consumption especially with the panniers and top box. Enjoy your new bike especially in the twisty roads.
Yall had given us the heads up on the new bike but I appreciate your decisions and dedication to getting the right bike for Chris to be comfortable and safe. Keep it up you're doing great!
Maybe they used Imperial gals for measuring the 52 mpg? British gallons were Imperial gallons. Canada use to have Imperial gals. before changing to metric. For example, 3.79 litres to a US gal. 4.2 litres to an imperial gal. My 2018 M8 107 HD Softail Deluxe is rated for 47 mp US gal. I ride moderately and get between 47 and 55mpUSg.
That could be the speedo is off also
@@TwoWheelsBigLife Yes, I was thinking that as well. I just thought your owner's manual, which is a British bike might have only listed British Imperials for their measurements. My owner's manual lists both US and Canadian, 5 USgls and 18.9ltrs. The last time I filled up at 224.3 miles/16.179L it cost me for prem. gas $2.489 per L or for 4.269 Us for a total of $40.27 (Cdn. dollars) PAINFUL! Just saying.
GREAT BIKE, CHRIS. HEY THANKS FOR LETTING US KNOW ABOUT THE BUNKER BIKERS. WE WILL BE USING THEM IN THE FUTURE. WHAT A GREAT BIKER COMMUNITY WE HAVE!
Awesome I was hoping it would be a Tiger. I have been looking at them to replace my Klr. Will be watching to see how you like it! Congrats on the new bike!
Yes this is the GT so smaller front wheel
Awesome! Glad you love it!!!
Yes we love it
Congratulations on the Tiger 900 - way lighter than the GS will give extra confidence in handling. Approved (from a GS owner...)
My ex did not like being a passenger and did not ride a bike. My wife loves being a passenger and does not ride a bike. She actually sleeps during the ride so when we arrive she is totally fresh and I am wasted. During the ride she is as reactive as a bag of potatoes, I can do what I want - so she is the best!
I run a MotoBriz chain oiler on my Tiger 800.
I have the 900 GTPro and love it! Mine averages 52 miles/gal!
Yes much better mileage staying on back roads
That Tiger looks great! I'm looking forward to your tent camping video.
Loved the video. Thank you.
Thanks Betty Jo you’re welcome
Congrats on the new bike! Very exciting.
Enjoy your trip to explore the tour.
Cheers
I think 55 mpg is the British figure. A UK gallon is 160 ounces so you can do more miles.
Congrats on the new bike.. Stay safe out there..
So Triumph’s have lousy heaters to! 😀☝️
Nice looking bike! 😎👍
Nice bike heading up to Two Wheels of Suches July 9th . I have a Honda ST1300 been looking to downsize. Take care.
Interesting. Y’all have fun
Thanks Edd
And congrats on the new bike
Thanks
Those 900’s are great bikes. I did a test ride review last year of the Rally Pro on my old channel. LOVED it.
I hope you like the new bike and the lighter weight - definitely a plus!!
Chris you may not be getting in the 50's mpg because it was cold where you were riding. My 2018 Goldwing gets 55 + during the warm weather. In cooler weather the mpg's drop to the low 40's.
Interesting didn’t think of that.
Congrats on the new bike. I have been seeing the Easter eggs you were leaving in some of your previous videos. It was fun to look for them.
And ………….FOURTY-FIVE??? I need my heated grips at 65F!!!
Awesome. Glad you caught those
Wow love the new bike, a Triumph, nice! I dated a guy in the 60s that had a Triumph the thing was a hog lol. Hope you enjoy riding it Chris and that it’s more comfortable for you. Look forward to new adventures ever-changing. 👍🏻❤️🤗🤩
Nice lookin TR, enjoy and stay safe.
Thanks Brian
I just recently bought a 2022 Triump Rally 900 cc; last bike was a BMW 1200 GS !
The rally has a bigger front tire than the GT so the GT feels lighter turning.
@@TwoWheelsBigLife I like the 21” front wheel, especially off road….
Nice Bike!
Hello 👋 awesome bike,b safe back to base camp ,love your channel
Thanks Ervin
Good to see you with a lighter bike. Non of us over 50 enjoy dropping and picking up our bikes. The gas mileage is probably based on liters per gallon. The panniers, windshield all factor in on this. The "main" issue is to be comfortable weight wise. Sorry not to see you in Georgia but I'll at the Natl in Springfield, Mo. 👍👍🏍🏍🏍🙋♂️
Awesome. Thanks
This is so good! Hey have you guys linked up with Amsoil Adam yet?! He’d love your stuff here, he’s great for our community and posts up at all the rallies!
