    I'm actually crying rn because i fell for the first ever scam in the list which is "Hijack links". I glad i had my account back through steam support easily. But since the steam quit returning scam items or money from scammers for the victim, i lost my strange weapons, taunts, 1 unusual cozy catchers and a 15$ gift card. I almost fell for what I think was a crate shark. He was just a random asking for a trade. At first glance it looks fine (and maybe even generous), I choose a class, I get a few hats in exchange for a bunch of extra crates, but I took some time to check the value before confirming.
    He started getting impatient, and when I confronted him about the mismatch he did compensate it. But at that point something seemed off, I decided I was done dealing with him and I ended up canceling it and blocking him.

    • @eksd5363
      @eksd5363  5 месяцев назад +1

      They only compensate when called out tbh

    • @gamerkyle2402
      @gamerkyle2402 5 месяцев назад +1

      I remember the first and only time I encountered a crate shark. When I was hit up by someone wanting to buy my cases, I went along with it. After all, I know that people are willing to go to insane lengths to get their unbox fix. A couple of hats for a dozen cheap cases sounded like a fair deal, I thought.
      And then the shark immediately reveals their hand by saying something along the lines of "I don't want those cheap summer/winter cases, I want your war paint cases." Fastest block of my life. I remember buying a Conga taunt along with a few other items through trading in Pyroland and Warbird cases when those were still new. No way was I going to hand those over for the TF2 equivalent of a 200 ticket Chuck-e-Cheese prize.
      I couldn't imagine what the "compensation" would be. The cases I presume most sharks go for are worth hundreds of hats each. At that point, giving "compensation" is practically admitting to sharking.

    • @pseudo_goose
      @pseudo_goose 5 месяцев назад +1

      @@gamerkyle2402 The compensation was several keys being added to the trade, the amount that I called them out on.
      I had taken some time checking the values on backpack tf to make sure there wasn't any huge mismatch. I did in fact find some crates, worth at least several keys in total, enough to raise a red flag.
      So I called them out on that, they did add the number of keys that I mentioned, but I just wasn't comfortable anymore and ended up declining.
      Unfortunately I can't find the chat or the trade offer, so I don't know the exact details anymore.

    Dude, i just realize i'm a Shark, but i don't want to ruin some ppl.
    I just buy items for low prices and sell them for a lot more. Like 11 keys, now i feel bad

      This is called basic economy and not sharking. You are not taking advantage of someone, you are just trading with one man, and then with another for more. In this situation everybody wins, not only one person

      Truthfully there's a lot of people that do that kinda shit and really it's not that big of a deal, by the end of the day I'd say if both people were happy with the trade that's what matters. 👍
