Being a cargo van owner operator is the best decision of my life

  • Another solid day in the cargo van. I only worked 4.5 hours. I spent a lot of time at PPG today along with their W2 driver. I really got to see the difference between him and me. No disrespect, but he is on an hourly schedule, so no matter how many deliveries he makes, he gets the same pay day in and day out, 10 hour days. I only worked a little over 4 hours and as the boss, I said "I think I'm going to go home early and spend time with the wife and kids." Guess who stopped me? Best decision of my life, real talk.

    If people aren’t hating on you, it means you not doing something right. I’d rather work for my own business than slave away for someone else’s dream. Keep working hard and don’t listen to anyone, they probably envy you because they are afraid to do something with their own lives.

    UberEats and DoorDash for 2 years - 7 days a week - however really want to get into the cargo van business - yep, even though a bit quite in some parts. Studied Utube for the last 3 months and found 2 excellent driver instructors BUT what I have learned from you is "rubber on the road" and with a real deal vibe! Best to you and THANK YOU!

    Block out the negativity. Like you always say- everyones situation is different. Some people won’t like you because you have passive income and they don’t, some don’t like your quick success, some don’t like you and wife being a great team, some don’t like Curtis😳, etc,etc. Keep putting out this great content. Your only response to those haters should be.. “Please send me the link to your RUclips channel so we can all learn something” 😂

      Appreciate the comment. I personally don't mind any negative thoughts or feedback. I've dealt with that all my life. Some of my coworkers laughed at me when I told them I was leaving to start my own cargo van business. I let my actions do the talking for me. Unfortunately, they are still working that 9-5, making $17 per hour. Curtis wasn't my first choice, but much respect to him, I don't know too many people who would give 1K of their hard earned money without expecting anything in return to help a new business out. I'm riding with Curtis, liked or not. I think my journey is really helping people out. That's what it's about. Your absolutely right, critics need to show everyone how it's done. Respect 👊🏾

    Don't listen to the critics that are saying you should not drive your own vehicle. If you were driving for an owner operator they would be getting the big money and paying you a percentage. You will be able to claim all the operating expenses come tax time, so don't listen to them. It's great you can earn what you are and be at home every day with your family. I did independent contractor driving in a 6 wheeler over 12 years ago and was out on the road 31/2 weeks at a time. You made over $200 in this video. Back then I was earning. 38cents per mile plus some bonuses at times so the mileage on earned me $190 day. DO NOT LISTEN TO THE CRITICS!!! Keep up your gigs.

    Salute on your journey I got a question how does the insurance work like do you have to put a down payment on the insurance because I'm in the process of doing exactly what you're doing just don't have no clue bout the insurance or what insurance company to go through and the price do you pay up front for the insurance if so what's the price

    • @BigCJCargoVan
      @BigCJCargoVan  Год назад +1

      Appreciate you and your hustle. So insurance is tricky. If you only plan on doing gig apps like me, you do not have to have commercial insurance. I recommend getting commercial only because some insurance companies will not cover you in an accident because of the type of work you are doing. If your using your vehicle for work and not personal, you should have commercial. I have commercial thru progressive because I have my own authority. You do not need your authority to do gig apps. I pay the minimum required commercial insurance because I have my authority and must maintain commercial insurance to keep my authority active. Long story short, you can get regular insurance if you want if your just going to do gig apps. If you choose to get commercial, you can get several quotes, Progressive is the most popular. You will have to put down a deposit probably around $500 to even $1,000, all depends. Then, you will have a monthly payment depending on the coverage you choose from $400 to as high as $1,500 per month. You should be covered for 10 months to 12 months, depending on the company you choose. Insurance is one of the toughest obstacles starting out. Hope this helps, if not shoot me an email or checkout some RUclips videos on the subject, there's some good videos out there. Best wishes to you 👍🏾. My email is on my description page.

    • @BigCJCargoVan
      @BigCJCargoVan  8 месяцев назад +3

      If your just doing gig apps, yes you can do all the loads I'm doing with the smaller Ford transit 150 low roof, or chevy van. I see a lot of them out there. If you plan on working for a dispatching company, courier or running loads for a shipper, I'd get at minimum a 250. I like Ford, but you can do Promaster as well. Some companies require certain size vans so it's always safer to go bigger. My van can handle pretty much anything. Wish you the best 👍🏾

    The next time they have you load by yourself let Dispatch know. They will pay you an extra “weight bonus” fee because we are intially only compensated for 1 load or unload fee. I had a order before thatI had to load from one house and unloaded at another house and I let them know and they paid me the weight bonus twice.

      @@BigCJCargoVan Honestly, It all depends on the route you get. They actually have multiple different routes they do. I’ve only done the C-19 test pick up and the precooked meals route. The C-19 route was definitely worth it, I wish they still had it in my area. As far as the precooked meals route it has been the luck of the draw for me sometimes I get a route that takes 2 hours and others it may take 4. I definitely think it would be good for your wife in the mini van. It’s unnecessary to use Curtis for it. The only reason I use mine is because I usually have Sunrun orders before I got there.

      To be honest, the best part about it is the freedom. Nothing like it. Also unlike your job, no cap on how much you can make. Your salary is just that. My earnings will continue to rise as I continue to create more opportunities for myself. You decide how much you make when you get into this business. So many options. I will never go back to 9-5. Don't think about the now, think about the potential of what you can build. That's what's exciting. 5 years from now see where I'll be at. 9-5 will never look out for me the way I can look out for me. Best wishes to you 👍🏾

  • @anacooler1150
    @anacooler1150 Год назад +1

    It was me who posted that comment. I simply pointed out that you are doing a lot of manual labor on top of using your own van + gas and other expenses like commercial insurance and etc. Sorry but they are really taking advantage of you. You need to say no to loading and unloading all those heavy paint buckets unless they pay you significantly more and extra for it. Store employees should load your van and on site workers should unload it. You are simply not paid enough to do it. These guys are taking advantage of you.
    IMHO pay that you are receiving from those Apps is not enough for you to do all that manual labour of loading and unloading.
    And golden rule as a independent contractor is to avoid doing manual labour as much as possible. No one will care tomorrow if your back is broken. Employers love this option to use independent contractor instead of regular employees because they are NOT liable at all if something happens to you. You break your back loading and unloading those heavy paint buckets and you are on your own, no one is liable because you are independent contractor.
