Over 30 years of singing this aria/role! There are recordings of her singing this in the early 60's! Here she is in the year 2000 sounding amazing- so musical and heartfelt. She wears age beautifully! Brava!

Oh she was in splendid voice here. At age 67, there is still so much velvety morbidezza in her tone. Anyone who can’t hear that just doesn’t know her voice. Go back to school and learn something before you start mindlessly hurling insults at one of the greatest sopranos of the 20th century. Comparing ANY soprano to her is risky.

Esiste un giorno, nella vita di una persona che si occupa di determinati mestieri, in cui arriva il momento di ritirarsi, sia per non fare un torto a se stessi sia per non fare un torto (in questo caso) all'arte. Con tutta la stima ed il rispetto per una grandissima di sempre come la Caballè ma per lei quel giorno era già passato da un po' in quel Natale del 2000.

Dislikes are because of the people who couldn't hold the applause untill the very end. Montserrat was perfect!
