When you used a textile scissor on metal my body revolted. Since my mother has been sewing and worked with sewing machines my whole life and she always says "Do NOT cut anything but textiles with my scissors"
u can always fold the leather down on the fabric inside and use a nail with hammer to make holes for the stitchwork. for measuring even holes you can use a measuring tape or a ruler. good luck!
