It looks like it might be a little tough because you can't see what you're doing when reaching your arm in. Reminds me of Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom when the woman had to blindly reach around a bunch of disgusting bugs to turn off the trap that was about to kill Indy and his little sidekick
It's a little tough, but a small socket makes quick work of it. I was going to say something else, but I like to keep my channel family friendly so I'm not gonna say it lol.
Just put the same 3rd brake light in my C5. I’d SERIOUSLY recommend getting a helper to keep the light in place, necessitating taking the other inside tail light out. Also, I’d seriously recommend pre tightening the 7mm into the holes to establish some threads.
Came to this video to see how to access the light and decided to purchase it lol. I was gonna just tint the oem light but i feel like it would turn out very dim.
@@YellowVette04 I did it yesterday.. I had to pull both inside taillights and remove the license plate to change out the 3rd brake light... my 95 is black so I went with a blacked out brake light... looks nice
I think for Corvettes, the "3rd brake light" is considered the "5th brake light" because of the 4 oval tail lights, LMAO. Kidding aside, great video as always and love how the car's coming together! Matt
Haha I was thinking the same thing about the 5th brake light. Thanks man, I'm happy with it so far and there's still more to do. I appreciate the continued support.
ok Hoss, I went to change my 3rd brake light and now neither the old or new light is working. I checked it with my multimeter and have power but the light doesn't come on. any tips?
Im here because mine just came loose, it looks sunk in downward. And of course the light isn't working. Been having mine since 2015. Think over time it just loosen up?? Oh that's a c5, im assuming it should be the same with c6?
The screws go into plastic if my memory is right, so vibrating loose may not happen but I guess anything is possible. I've never looked at a C6 3rd brake light. There's a lot in common between the 2 gens, so I wouldn't be surprised if it's similar.
@@YellowVette04 Thanks again for the info. A company called Vettelights just released a new version of these, but instead of separate LED bulbs, it's a sold laser stream. They also released smoked lens halo taillights too. You should check them out!
@@darioz5894 I've seen them and they do look nice. They're a nice upgrade over stock for sure. I just need to decide if it's worth upgrading what I already upgraded.

There's no threads inside the holes. Thread the screws in while it's off the car, it'll make it easier to screw them in once on the car. That should help
@@YellowVette04 Thanks, I'll try that again. I really think the one they sent me is short. I compared them both, they look the same. Not sure .Really ! Thanks for the help.

I forget if the slot the screw was in was opened at the end towards the front of the car. Looking at the video it looks like it might be open, but I don't think it was or you're right you could just slide it out. Thanks for watching the videos, glad they helped.
@@YellowVette04 I'll try to get mine into the Texas mile next time it's up, she has a lil oil leak so hopefully they don't see that. Love the vids homie, wish you were a bit closer we could run em together.
3rd break light is LED, so it's individual LEDs and there's no replacing a single bulb. You have to replace the whole light like I did here. It's odd for the entire light to be out, so check to make sure it's plugged in and make sure there's voltage going to it before you buy a new one.

That an open brake lamp circuit code. Make sure all connectors are fully connected would be my first guess. The third brake light is already LED so installing a new one shouldn't impact the circuit in anyway. If you still have the code after you check the connections, then put the original light back in and see if you have the code. If you don't, then maybe the new light is bad

Howdy sir…what exhaust is that in this video? I love the way the tips look from the back…and the tips appear to be around 4-4.5 inches?
Billy Boat Bullets and I believe 4". Thanks for watching and the question
Nice video and very informative... I wonder if the 95 c4 would use the same process?
I don't know much about C4s, so I'm not sure how the brake light is accessed on those.
