sometimes i can go hours without it shutting down then all of a sudden it shuts down and reboots instantly and will keep happening every 5 minutes or so. mostly happens when playing games.

*Solution if your windows shutsdown at random as if a ghost pressed the power button* I have found the REAL PROBLEM to be the least suspect. The power button on my case. I thought my power supply was the cause and went and bought a new one only to see the same shutdowns. to fix this issue or test if it is yours you have to go into the "power options" in windows and click "Choose what the power buttons do" then changed the power button to turn off your display, if your monitor begins to randomly turn off but your computer stays on this confirms that you have a faulty power button on your case. all you have to do is set the button to "Do nothing" and this should solve your random shutdowns until you replace the case, Unfortunately this does not solve problems with your computer turning itself ON at night or random times. you can solve that problem by switching the power switch off when going to bed or not using the pc. Hope this helped.
thanks man, I was really frustrated about my PC shutting down. I saw other videos and forums about this issue and non of them talked about checking if your 24 pin motherboard cable was loose. All they said was to replace the psu. This saved me $70, good video.

My computer tends to overheat when playing certain games, I'll look into what you've advised, however I do have one issue and that is that despite the occasional PC shutting down while gaming, my pc always turns off when I try to render a video. I really need some help as soon as possible; I work with Adobe Premiere Pro CS6 and I can't get videos rendered any more, I have no clue as to what the problem is and looking online for help doesn't help all too much :(

@@trevnutz The only thing left to do was to buy a gpu and that is what I did. And luckily it stopped causing a system fail or whatever (I had cpu with integrated graphics)

Check the temperature of your PC and see if your fans are configured correctly. You might just need proper airflow so that air can come in through the PC and exhaust out.
Guys I found another solution by myself! LISTEN UP. So for about a week my pc kept shutting down and I did not even bother to check the motherboard for anything that was out of order. All the cables were connected correctly and that was not the problem but the CPU was VERY HOT. So I checked the thermal paste and my thermal paste was badically dry. Meaning it was turning into dust. So that is why your PC moght be shutting down because as soon as your CPU gets over 60Degrees it will shut down. So I suggest getting more thermal paste and adding it into your CPU. Hope this helped!

I had this problem. It was completely random, no pattern. Eventually, after developing a grudge directed towards HP, I found out it was the memory (RAM) that was faulty. It was an HP Pavillion laptop. It would make a click noise, the screen would instantly go black, and then it would start normally, as if nothing happened. Now it's doing it again.

Downloaded an AMD driver the other day. My pc will restart itself randomly sometimes after 1 hour, 2 hours or even 20 minutes. My PC is always cool and does not go above 40 in GPU or CPU when this happens. And this always happens either on desktop or on web browser never in game. Any ideas?
Great video. I will start going through the check list. I am guessing it's a loose cable somewhere that's cause it. It's definitely not the CPU fan or GPU as I tested them already and installed a new fan cooler. It might be the 24 pin mbps connector.
for me I found out its because my motherboard or the electricity source... there might be a heat problem... especially if my computer works fine when it was shut down after 4-5 hours... then it works for a few 1-2 hours then if it gets hot outside... and keep doing heavy stuff.. it will probably shut down / restart till I let it to cool off...

Only a faulty PSU causes a PC to shut down... not crash, not freeze, no blue screen, no response, not restart even... but shut down, all goes blank.... you will know its the psu when it does only this shut down and when u are not even able to power the pc again until you replug/turnoff-on your psu... The psu can even start to smell, like something burned up...
Turns out, the cable that connects to the power supply was loose and when it stood it turned off, thanks for the first suggestion even though it wasn’t what I was having problems with. Somehow you convinced me to check it and it worked so now I have to use my pc facing down

I've got this problem. However, I've got a couple of very specific symptoms I hope can shed some light on what exactly is causing this problem. 1. It happens as I try to boot Windows. I can usually last only for a few minutes in regular windows before it randomly shuts down. 2. I DON'T have this problem in safe mode! I'm in safe mode right now! 3. When it shuts down, the LED light on the front is still on. I have to either unplug the AC cord, or flip the switch to off, and wait about ten seconds for the LED light to power down due to lack of juice before I can turn the power back on again. Do these three symptoms tell you anything about what the problem is?

+kingmatt2563 Your motherboard is either damaged or something strange has happened. Try reinstalling the AMD driver or buy a new motherboard.

Great video. I will start going through the check list. I am guessing it's a loose cable somewhere that's cause it. It's definitely not the CPU fan or GPU as I tested them already and installed a new fan cooler.
It might be the 24 pin mbps connector.
guys, check if there is a plastic piece covers the half of the psu cooling fan.
you need to open the psu, forget about the shit seal warranty.

My PC shuts down when I play DOTA 2 and I have to unplug the power cable from the PC and plug it back in in order to turn it back on. Any ideas?

for me I found out its because my motherboard or the electricity source... there might be a heat problem... especially if my computer works fine when it was shut down after 4-5 hours... then it works for a few 1-2 hours then if it gets hot outside... and keep doing heavy stuff.. it will probably shut down / restart till I let it to cool off...
So I upgraded my PC at Christmas it's been a couple of months, my PC randomly shut off today. Each time I turn it one it turns of. I reply mugged all the cords and cleaned the dust. It work when I switched the CPU power cord but it turned off again after 15 mins and now it's going off instantly again
my problem is that it shuts down a few minutes later after turning it on, ive cleaned the fan so its not overheating as it used to....

@frankieseshy my computer is only restarting when i play games. So i think it might be my gpu according to your video, but the fans work just fine.
Only a faulty PSU causes a PC to shut down... not crash, not freeze, no blue screen, no response, not restart even... but shut down, all goes blank.... you will know its the psu when it does only this shut down and when u are not even able to power the pc again until you replug/turnoff-on your psu... The psu can even start to smell, like something burned up...
Turns out, the cable that connects to the power supply was loose and when it stood it turned off, thanks for the first suggestion even though it wasn’t what I was having problems with. Somehow you convinced me to check it and it worked so now I have to use my pc facing down
If it keeps shutting down try this.
Go to windows settings and go to power and sleep. Put sleep every: to never.

B4 my PC randomly shuts down, it basically freezes or the monitor shuts off / give me a Blue screen of death and it says driver is stuck on an infinite loop, at least that is what I see because it took 3 seconds b4 it shuts down and restarts again. Help?

my pc doesnt turn off but when i play games it randomly shuts off my displays and sound. this means both my displays say no signal but you can hear the computer is operating but its displaying nothing and my speakers are no longer playing sound. i have no option but to hold the power button and force shut it off. whats wrong with my pc. i experience this problem daily :(

Hello guys... I will get to my problem directly - When I play games, the PC reboots as if I pushed the reboot button. I am sure my PC is not overheating. I am sure it's not some type of virus or anything like that. I tried to push EVERY SINGLE CABLE I could... No changes... I tried plugging my PC directly into "the wall"... No changes... and it only happens when playing games. Also seems like it happens on the same places - in Far Cry 4 it happens right at the startup. In League of Legends or Dota 2 it happens right after the loading screen is over. Also sometimes it happens and sometimes not. I don't really think it's the PSU. Reply to me if you need my specs :) And thank You for you further help. :)

I've got this problem. However, I've got a couple of very specific
symptoms I hope can shed some light on what exactly is causing this
problem.
1. It happens as I try to boot Windows. I can usually
last only for a few minutes in regular windows before it randomly shuts
down.
2. I DON'T have this problem in safe mode! I'm in safe mode right now!
3.
When it shuts down, the LED light on the front is still on. I have to
either unplug the AC cord, or flip the switch to off, and wait about ten
seconds for the LED light to power down due to lack of juice before I
can turn the power back on again.
Do these three symptoms tell you anything about what the problem is?
Ok what I have is a mini laptop thing it just shut down ad won't turn off, it wasn't batter because I was charging it, ad it has no motherboard, AND it wasn't overheated
Frankie, my PC shuts down when i play video games, like i would start up a game and 20 minutes in the game it would shut down and my screen would go black and start buzzing from my headset.
