Just got my new MacBook M1 Pro 14 inch today and I've already experienced this. I am not happy. I hope it doesn't continue but thank you for the help. It solved the issue......for now
I have the same issue with M1 Pro 14 . I have to keep restarting it to fix it . Not sure if this video was any help as restarting it to temporarily fix it anyway.
@@nickclarkuk this is terrible, dude. I feel for you. Apple is slowly failing miserably when it comes to software. Their gear is beautiful but the software side is infuriating. Try calling them or reaching out through chat. Let me know how it goes
But how to move to the system preference when the trackpad is frozen. My Mac is only a month old and did a MacOS software update after that it stopped working.
A friend gave me an apple mouse, I tried it and I decided the Logitech I have was better. I moved to a new place and the mouse in bag with random stuff. I move the away in my closet that a few feet from my mac. Well the track would stop working after about 3 mins, come to find out it was on and being pressed in the bag, thank god and thank you for telling me it was the left click being stuck on.
My M1 macbook air has had this issue. It appears that when I restart from a shut down the keyboard and trackpad work fine. Once the MacBook sleeps or I close the lid and then wake or reopen the lid, the trackpad and keyboard DO NOT work. I then have to restart the laptop. I noticed this happened when I upgraded to Monterey and I have then since wiped my hard drive clean, reinstalled Monterey and the problem has still continued. I have also reinstalled Big Sur which the M1 Mac originally came with and the problem has still remained. I have been advised by apple to take my MacBook back to Currys and exchange it for a brand new M1 Mac. Hope this helps anyone else having the same issue considering what troubleshooting measures I have taken.
@@dwiadi1918 I purchased my laptop from Curry's but they were fantastic and replaced mine with a brand new one. I haven't updated to Monterey yet though as I do not trust it at the moment. Goodluck!!
Thanks. Mine would randomly jump from one area of the screen to another and the tap to click function would not work most of the time. Glad I came across your video. 👍🏼🙏🏼
Update: 12.1 Monterey FINALLY fixed it. I will never update to new os when it comes out. Always wait till at least point1 version release. My God these were tough two months!!! Earlier/October’21: Touch tap still not working:( it’s very erratic.
Man, I have 12.1 on my M1 pro, but still having this problem. Nothing better than spending $2000 on a computer and having to struggle with the trackpad the first week, ugh.

@@DbK831 nothing I know of sadly:( plus, one of my sd card readers stopped working under Monterey. All fine on big sue on another Mac.

It's not a solution. Sometimes cursor lagging/freezing momentarly using both built in trackpad and mouse.
