To my surprise he gave me a very detailed answer about it! The otherworldly, ethereal vocals were created by writing out melodic phrases, reversing them, and then recording the reversed phrases with a singer. The recordings were then reversed back to their original melodies, which produced interesting artifacts, unusual dynamic shifts, and an otherworldly, never-heard-before language. The vocals were also pitched up and down to create parallel harmonies, enhancing the eeriness even more.
I love the sort of ethereal singing in this track. Gives it the perfect otherworldly vibe for the theme of this event/story. Especially the parts that kick in at 5:50 and 7:24 in the video. 11:00 too.
