I think it's dumb and takes away from the true meaning of drag racing, but according to a friend that has one of those cars, he said going fast gets boring to a degree, so these classes it's more of a cat and mose game, you have a fully built race car that can run low 8's but put it in a class that you can't run faster than 9.90. You race your opponent that has a slightly slower car and the object is to blow by him at the finish line, eaiser for the the guy to reel someone in than try and stay in front looking over your shoulder or in the mirror to see where he is. That's the game
