it is a pleasure to listen to the commentator, he talks smooth, calm, clear, his voice is pleasant to listen to. It makes sence what he says. This is the best chess channel I ever visited.
What a great game. I've always enjoyed Wesley So's play. And let's not forget that he's #8 on the FIDE Rating List and the FIDE Fischer Random World Champion. So his tactical skills are not to be underestimated.
I love the clarity you explain these games with, thank you! btw One of my best friends says you used to coach him with England Juniors... Michael Duggan, do you remember him?
Crazy and beautiful game. Are you judging the top 3 from every game of the entire Olympiad, so from the 5th division, or whatever it was called to the playoffs? That must be a lot of work 😲
The judges were given an initial selection, but I went through a couple of hundred games by the top players on my own and came up with a few more candidates that were added to the list.
A lovely game by Wesley So but I can’t help thinking that we may already have seen the Brilliancy Prize winning game on the channel 😉 If we haven’t then the winner really must be very special indeed!!
Great stuff, however, the bishop trap feels like a prepared line. If not, I'm even more impressed with Wesley and wondering why we haven't seen more of him lately.
4. ... Nge7!? is the choice of LC0, and stockfish regards it as a playable gambit. For sure we're going to see it in a grandmaster game in the not too distant future.
4...Nge7 is interesting, but it is not as though Black is struggling in the lines with 4...Bd6. Another question is, are we going to see 1 b3 in a GM game soon?! Certainly not in classical chess - remember that? :)
@@PowerPlayChess My understanding of theory in the 4. ... Bd6 line has evolved over time in parallel with the improvements both in chess engine software and the hardware that they run on. It's still my number one move, although the odd-looking 4. ... Qd6 is apparently roughly as good.

I have been following your channel for 4-5 years at least. And during this time, I haven't missed a single video !! Love this content 😍

Thank you very much! Spread the word!
I really appreciate the explanations on each move - it’s so helpful for a chess rookie like myself to keep up. Cheers 👍

the content of this channel is so gooooood. thank you Mr King.
Holy cow... Nd4! by So is great. Finding such resources shows the real master.
Thanks Dan. I missed this tournament. Looking forward to the other two games. 👌🏼
If this is third placed ,then 2nd and 1st are flaming superb. CAN'T WAIT!!!
Great game and commentary!
The bishop move was genius

Thanks Richard. Say hi to Michael - a good bloke
Great video as always!
I can hardly wait for game number one, to find out who Daniel voted for as Gazprom Queen.
It's prooobably Shirov Dvirny
Crazy and beautiful game.

@@PowerPlayChess Wow, great job. Can't wait for another fantastic game tomorrow :)
It felt like White played such a dubious opening that Black ended up winning despite getting his bishop trapped.
Definitely not dubious lol
If that was third, I can't imagine what first and second are like.
thank you!

I couldn’t possibly comment...
PowerPlayChess No you shouldn’t 😁

Was Qxg2 possible? Getting 3 pieces for the Q? I mean, of course he was hoping for more. But perhaps that would have been a viable option.
You meant of course, Nd2. 🙂
good pick.
Basically a game with bishop odds
Wow Bd2!!
3:03 Strange Bishop
I was rooting for the Canadian 😁
I used to enjoy Power Play Chess. But now there are so many commercials, I mostly avoid the channel.

oops, here's Artemiev - Morozevich , Nutcracker rapid, from 2016 :

This shows that the French Defence is hard to play whoever tries to play it and many players have washed their hands of it
White Bishop can counter black bishop at c1
White can move Bishop to C1,insteadof taking by the queen
Then the bishop on d2 just takes on f4 and Black has a huge attack without giving up material.
