I did mine last week. And absolutely loved having my long nails back. But, they started breaking off. :( clean across where my real nail ends. I was so disappointed. Any ideas of what I did wrong? Tips?
Ugh ok sorry it’s doing that to you. Like I said it takes a couple times to figure it out. So you need to add more on that area. Just like the ones I had fixed putting more on the sides and top where you are saying it broke off. You can add it after you do the nail like I did when I saw it was to thin. Give me a minute to find a video link that I saw a couple months ago that explains it better. Also to me the clear is the strongest so maybe free hand some clear poly gel on the whole thing before you sand and shape. I’m super hard on my nails I use them like tools lol so I figured a way to put clear tips on and then the poly gel and form and smooshed it over. Should I do a video showing that? I first wanted to do this basic video so any beginner could try. 🌺🌺🌺

I just did mine, and am super happy!!! I had a few questions, and your tutorial totally answered them!!! I was pressing a bit when I didn’t need to, and I used to do my own like you with Acrylic, so I can relate!!! I also adore my UV lamp and fully agree that you need the drill to get underneath the nails, I’m a total perfectionist myself 😁. I also felt like I was “missing something “, it was the prep and dehydrator!! I see tons of videos where folks dont use this medium to its maximum potential - you are making Television, basically - and TV at its best and most powerful is delivering knowledge efficiently. You could be banging your head on the wall agonizing over every last detail (I go through that just writing fiction) but the end result is polished, smooth, inviting, and you deliver it with warmth and charm. I end up watching folks from the LA area since thats where im from originally and I like seeing it as a background..
I really hope your channel takes off and you wake up one day to 200,000+ viewers. Maybe more cross-promotion with Amber? She can spare a few viewers...ha ha.
I also kept expecting to see the cat's paw fly out in from off screen and start grabbing things, but lucky for us it was napping under the couch or something....
Anyways: Keep standards high and dont skimp on the detail, your viewers will come back again and again and rely on you for that!

@@crystaltaxoxo Well, quarantine is for everyone's safety so thats ok. Note that even big budget shows like Saturday Night Live are having to think laterally in this situation to co-ordinate guests/segments so you can do that too!
Examine the YT channel from The Actors Fund and their show Hump Day With Hampshire and note how they fly in guests in video chats (there is a few staff members for that show if you look at the credits, so yes there is someone grabbing guests and directing all that while the host Emily Hampshire does her thing - shes one of my favorite actors and does this show to help The Actors Fund).
It might take you a few tries, but I think you can visit w/ some friends online and cut some decent video. At least give it some consideration....as long as you are sticking to your standards of quality and content - feed your viewer's heads!
Ages ago I'd thought up some segments for Amber that I really want to produce, a bit different from her usual flying by the seat of her pants stuff. I am not sure if she'd commit to doing that or want the help. I just noticed after watching a lot of her videos that she wasn't thinking up really new stuff as much as she was. She comes across as a nice person and I'm not knocking her channel at all - I just had sat and thought about it from the starting point of 'What would be cool to show her viewers?'...
Anyways: Have lots of fun doing this and be super, duper safe....ppl got cooties now~ (not forever, but right now....yeppers)

@@crystaltaxoxo Check out babygirlnails channel for a cheap Apres/ 123Go dupe method using gem gel and regular ABS full cover tips. I've been using it for nearly a year. So easy, fast and durable for a fraction of the price. I'm trying to like polygels with dual forms but I'm failing epicly so far... I've given it two tries after watching at least 15 hours of pro demos 😆 I HAVE been doing my own nails since I was 13 and this still eludes me. I will not give up!

No. You can either soak them off or use a dremal or both. Just be sure you get an electric dermal not a battery powered one.

Thanks so much for watching. I just uploaded a video using this same kit and using tips also. So you can decide what method works best for you. They last me 2 weeks or so. I made the mistake of using magic eraser with no gloves and doing dishes with no gloves so I had 2 on my right hand come off earlier than normal. That was my fault. But I feel they last as long as salon ones. Amazon takes it back if you hate it or it doesn’t work for you. 🌺🌺🌺🌺

I got the beetles polygel kit and I FINALLY did my nails today. I used tips that I had laying around from sally beauty supply (but my mistake not knowing that they'd actually change the color of the light pink polygel into like a milky whitish pink that u can barely tell is pink🙁) my mistake, I thought tips would be easier (which maybe they are but I need to invest in some clear ones) but I LOVE how they turned out. I did them all with the light pink and then I bought the same powder u ended up using at the end but I ombred them instead of doing the whole nail. I'm thinking about filing it off and just doing the entire nail with the powder bc I dont like how the pink looks so white. I love the color it turned out using the dual forms and will def be using those the next set I do. I definitely need to get better with filing even though I bought a drill and have some decent 100/180 nail files that came w my kit (actually a TON came w the kit I'm just not impressed w the colors which was the light pink, a white and a clear, I guess it's good for starting off though but if my bank account wasnt literally in the negative theres SO many more colors I want lol) next time I think I'll be purchasing from Makartt however. I want SOOOO many of their colors and kits lol . They're expensive but I would love the pink, green, blue lol hell I want them all. And that mini flash light that comes w the pink kit wld def come in handy. Oh nice! Glad you were able to play with it. You can file them down or you can just put the chrome powder on one more time and repeat the step and it should cover the pink part you don’t like. I often layer the chrome powder in 2 layers so it get super dark

I want SOOO many more colors and kits but w 3 kids and a husband on disability & after losing my job I'm lucky to have what I do lol. @@crystaltaxoxo I think that's what I'm gonna do. Plus itll give me a chance to really sit and file them more. I was kinda rushing bc my kids. Plus my back was killing me lol. I had to do one hand at a time and break haha. After my epidural w my oldest son (I have a 12 yr old, a 2 yr old and a 1 yr old so its hectic haha) but yeah after the epidural my back feels like it's on FIRE if I sit or stand too long. Sucks. & yeah the girl I mentioned long hair pretty nails, she just did a set with the pink Makartt kit that's BEAUTIFUL. I cant wait til I can save up some $$ & get my hands on their products!!! I'm glad the kit I got had a nice lamp in it though & SOOO many decorations for my nails. To me that made it pretty worth it. And I got a decent drill for around $30 but after watching more and more videos I want a better one with better drill bits 😂🤣.. I guess itll come in time! 💗

how do you avoid getting lumps of the gel stuff under the actual nail? Like when I do it and I go to press it onto my nail bed, right under the nail right next to the end of my skin where it meets the nail is has these really thick clumps and then the nail either breaks off fast or the sides of the nail starts wearing away. They still stay on for a long time though. Also, how do you make sure when the extension nail (the poly gel) near the cuticles isn't super thin? When I do mine, the gel nail part near the cuticle is super thin and when it grows out the nail actually starts coming off because it's too think there.
also, how long does it take you to finish up all your nails? It took me all day once
I started just using gel full cover nails from beetles they have a bunch of styles and super cheap kit. I showed them on my latest video. I got over all the filing and stuff not being uniform

do i NEED the primer and the other stuff you put on in the beginning or is it optional ? also with the drill that you used to file underneath the nail is it optional or do i need that too ?
I would definitely recommend the primer and dehydrator it helps them to really stuck to your nail so it won’t lift. The drill makes it easy to shape and also when you change your set of nails it cuts time by more than half just by shaving them down to soak off the little bit that left. I recommend the electric one rather than the battery operated kind because they are not powerful enough and you will pay a ton in batteries. I use to have one and it kinda sucked.
When I tried using alcohol my brush got hard, but ive seen ppl do it withojt a problem
That’s really strange it did that that to your brush. Because slip solutions are essentially alcohol the same thing. Maybe go to the $.99 store or some thing and get A synthetic brush. I use an eyeshadow brush lol🌸🌸

can you use acetone for slip and cleaning up after prime and cure?
No babe acetone breaks down the polygel. You can only use 70% alcohol or buy the slip solution which is pretty much alcohol.

Just ordered the drill and the beautiful chrome sets you have but unfortunately I already purchased the beetles 3 color kit that comes with the lamp, some glitters, I believe some flame stickers or foils? I'm kinda bummed it only came w 3 colors but with the price of lamp and all the stuff I think it was a pretty good deal.and I'M SOOO glad I found your video bc the last girls drill with the attachments is $345 & sorry but ain't nobody got time (or $$ for that 😂) esp when I'm out of work & have 3 kids. I bet it's good but I'm sure this one will do just fine. Do u recommend any certain brush that makes it easier or is the one in the kit fine? I cant WAIT to start doing my own nails & NEVER going back to the salon again! I finally just treated myself after TWO years of getting my nails done and they're HORRIBLE. They rushed me, said they couldn't do ANY designs, not even a few rhinestones so I opted for a French. I asked for a simple light pink gel with a white regular line. The nails are chunky, uneven, thick, the line is horrible and crooked on most and he used some weird ugly taupe colored sparkly polish. I just thought "whatever" still tipped well and just vowed never to go back smh. I've been debating on buying this stuff for months and researching and that did it for me! What does the alcohol do? I just ordered one!!
It is the only thing that moves the poly gel around. It also cleans off any sticky still on your nails or tools from the gel or gel nail polish. I’ve never bought an actual slip solution alcohol has worked just fine and it’s cheap
So I also bought this kit and I’m looking to your video for tips and tricks because less than an hour after I did them they all broke at the middle and came right off, it’s almost like they’re really flimsy??

That’s weird I’ve never had them be flimsy. I put a link to a great teacher that has top mistakes for poly gel. I’m going to do a video and shoot it tomorrow and show another way to do them using tips and squishing the poly gel over top of the tip. It helps with strength if you are hard on your nails
