I was backstage at the Lloyd Noble arena show for RCB, Henry Paul Band on 09/19/1980. The night that Kathy Collins passed. Met Billy Powell and he walked me up to stage left while the HPB band was playing. Such a nice guy! Did not meet the rest of the band or crew. A couple of our Gal Pals we’re given back stage passes from a roadie earlier. They did not care to go back stage but I did. Loved seeing the production of it all. I did notice after the show the how Quiet everyone was. I remember seeing Gary sitting by himself in the concrete ramp with his back against the wall and head down. He looked up and looked back down like something was wrong. Found out later what happened. So tragic. What a fantastic show that night and a great band. I miss what could have been.
I was Fortunate to buy a Guitar from Craig, on Ebay, One of A Kind, He Named it '' THE SATURDAY NIGHT SPECIAL'' The only one that he made called this, I still have it, and it Plays Like A Dream, It was a Dream come True , Getting it from Craig, thank you Sir, Cousin Figel
Literally?Your heart is hurting literally? That's quite the dubious claim,if you haven't had a myocardial infarction by now I would strongly suggest you see a doctor......literally.😂
AWESOME show! Kathy thank you sharing your stories and asking so many great detailed questions. Six degrees is rea. You proved it. Craig thank you for taking the time answering as many question as you can. Books on podcast is now a “thing”. We can listen for hours. There is no band like Skynyrd. You lived it Craig. Made ur own path.
Great show Kathy and Craig! I love yalls stories! Thanks for sharing! However, I am a little jealous that Kathy got to meet Allen at his house…lol! What an awesome opportunity! Also, I loved how Kathy talked about Allen’s sound being so distinctive! Every time I listen to LS, RCB, ACB, I can hear Allen a part from everyone else! That’s not always the case with other bands. There was something definitely special about Allen! The way he played his instrument was unique in every way! He definitely signed his songs!
Dear Kathy & Craig, #29 is a great episode! Loved it! Just found this show so will try to watch all episodes. So interesting. Great info and you two made me smile! Georgia Girl Skynyrd Fan! 🤩😍
Craig & Co. you guys have unlocked the vault for fans, thank you. Finally, people stepping up to the plate and sharing with Skynyrd's world of rock-solid supporters. I hope that Gary and Rickey (Johnny too) will come along and break through their glass ceiling. The years of "protecting the throne" ought to be over, help fill in the blanks of history lest they be filled for you. Skynyrd history is not Warren Commission-esque material. What we are learning helps humanize the entire Skynyrd family, worts and all.
Great job Kathy and Craig. Love hearing stories about Allen & rest of the guys. I'm diggin how you are keeping things fresh with different guests (and now a beautiful guest host). I subscribed after I saw the first show. Keep up the good work.
Another great show. Love the stories, glad Craig has Allen's car, sure lots of memories, was waiting for Kathy to say when she met Allen, he didn't give her some boxing gloves, to go a round.keep up the nice work for a Yankee like me in northern Wisconsin
Man I don't know about y'all, but I don't know how any man could move on with his life when his pregnant wife dies unexpectedly in a movie theater bathroom. I can't even imagine the painful trauma and sorrow poor Allen Collins went through that time. He was just getting his life back underway again after the plane crash with Gary Rossington and to have that happened is just words I cannot even describe or put into perspective all due respect.
Lynyrd Skynyrd's music has a lot of heart and a lot of heartfelt tragedy. Definitely America's Troopers of rock and roll or I should say southern rock a combination of Blues Country Jazz Gospel. They could have a chapter in History Class called Southern rock born in Jacksonville Florida
Kathy you are a beautiful young lady and you seem so down to earth oh yeah Craig not to shabby yourself hahaha I enjoy all the shows and stories I could listen to them for hours on end I've been a Skynyrd freak since about 1973 I got a Skynyrd tattoo right after that horrible day in history I'm going to the monument for the anniversary is there any chance of seeing you there sure would be a great time Kathy you and I are the same age do you mind if I look you up on Facebook? peace out till next time ✌🤘🎸🥁💯 LYNYRD SKYNYRD TILL THE DAY I DIE AND THEN SOME
Thanks again Craig for another podcast, really enjoyed it as usual, nice to hear Kathy’s story about meeting Alan, I’m just waiting for the next one 😊 Take care
Craig & Kathy, I love the 2 of you doing this, I love your stories Kathy, I had the Fortune of meeting Allen 2 times, the first was in Atlanta 1972 or 3 , When they played at Funnocios's Bar, the night I saw Al Cooper there, I was 18 years old, It still seems like Yesterday, Keep on Being a Regular Host on the RUclips, You are Great, So are you Craig, But Kathy is Much better looking than you are, LOL, Please do not stop doing this, it is the Best on the Tube Man, Cousin Figel
Saw the whole Podcast Kathy. Excellent . You, and Craig Reed did a Really good Job. It was very entertaining, and I learned a lot from Craig. Just listened to 'I've been your Fool'. I had heard it before, and I think it was B side production. In any case, Allen ripping that Slide , and later with Gary joining in( unless it was Allen double tracked during the solo?
She’s good. Good questions. I get it, but a shame that much is remembered. It’s been a long ass time, I realize. I’d love to get more insight to life those guys lived from 77-86. A totally different time.
Hey Craig, question for ya. Ed King has said he felt like an outsider in the band. Did other band members treat him differently, or was it cause he wasn’t from the south?
the ones the mass public knows that were connected with the band that are still alive if ya wanna know something about the band now is the time too ask these people arent getting any younger.......since their names have been mentioned on this podcast before i dont feel reserved in mentioning their names but it would be great to get joe kremp , randall hall and carol carrol on here if they would do it.......most of facebook public that have anything to do with skynyrd are familiar with these people and their connection with skynyrd especially randall hall......not only was he chosen by allen collins to stand in his stead during the tribute tour he was also around in the early days he could also shed light on the allen collins band.....then theres barry harwood and derek hess , please try to get them on ......my husband friended craig a few years ago on facebook and he thinks craig is " cool as shit " sorry his words not mine my husband has a potty mouth......he loves this podcast , he says thank you kathy and craig !
that would be so cool if gary rossington came on this show , my husband has a poster of gary rossington that he had made he was gonna make one of ed , steve and allen too but it got expensive , the one of gary costed him 150 dollars at a print shop
I wanted to know about the concert that they were doing in Richmond that ronnie brought the guy from the audience he was in a wheelchair I seen the picture with gene standing in front of the drums
Yes so do I !!!! What those guys did for their friend was amazing. The guy hung out with the band after the show. Now reall what other group would do that!
Hey were All old @"forget things before saying them these days...... God bless yall ❤ Kim-n-Carolina P.s. WISH ID FOUND YOU BEFORE NOW , GETTN OLD , I GOTTA ALOT WATCH ALTHOUGH! @ ILL THUMBS UP THEM ALL ! THANKS CRAIG! ❤️❤❤❤❤❤ TAKE CARE ! 🕊

Kathy Allen Collins Firebird went to auction last year. It was restored here in Jacksonville… just thought I’d add that
Great show Craig!! Kathy was a great guest and I for one think she would be a good backup for Griff.

Great podcast guys!
Thanks for doing this pod. Very entertaining and intresting. I also suggest Craig should write a book in addition to this.

I would like to see them talk about ronnie do a podcast just about him

I wondered about Allen’s girls.
Wish they talked about Allen's awesome jumping skills
Hey Craig, question for ya. Ed King has said he felt like an outsider in the band. Did other band members treat him differently, or was it cause he wasn’t from the south?
Whats the deal with Allen Collins and John Cougar? Cougar talks about Allen Collins always wanting to fight him!
