    Brought a tear to my eye, seeing those beautiful images of my old home-country. Very nice review and feedback, thanx Rachie. Enjoyed watching this one. Excellent camera, happy Nikon can fill that mid-tier gap without a sacrifice in quality and features.

    Impressive photos and video and helped me confirm that this camera is a good choice for me. I was a bit reluctant due to the 24 MP but this does not seem to be too big an issue.

    "Human prompt", love that!
    I was a little bothered by the fact that you said the Z6III was for an 'amateur' photographer, I have to strongly disagree. My body would hate me lugging around a Z9 all day.
    I cannot wait until I can get my hands on this camera!

    • @RachelBigsby
      @RachelBigsby  Месяц назад +1

      The MP count does make it an amateur camera in my opinion. As an example, I’m heading on an assignment tomorrow where the deliverables are 35mp images and above. I couldn’t do my job with the Z6 III, hence my opinion of it being a camera for amateurs rather than professionals. Hope that helps, as always, it’s my opinion and you’re free to make your own decisions 🙂

      @@RachelBigsby I understand, however there are many working professionals out there that 24MP is more than adequate in most cases. Would I have liked a bit of an MP bump in the Z6III sure, but it's not the most important factor. Thanks for the response. :)

    Rachel, thank you for this video on the Z6iii I'm trading in my 21mp Nikon D500 and although crop sensor has been use successfully as a pro camera. I think for me 24mp will be a great second camera to my Z8 and also the use of Z lenses. I think if you go back to 'film' the expertise came from the photographer and darkroom not the camera so really any camera can be professional it depend on the eye behind the lens... Thank you for your summing up of this camera ...

  • @tonyw3250
    @tonyw3250 Месяц назад +1

    I think people get hung up on big MP, I've shot images for motorcycle magazines for 17 year and some double page spreads were only done with 8MP back in the day. So I'd be more than happy with 24mp, although doing wildlife it's nice to have that large MP for cropping.

      @@HotGates clearly Nikon is behind in yerms of precaptur. Idk why they keep in in jpeg, if it's a technical limitation or something else. But if you're a pro wildlife photographer I understand you can be frustrated.
      I feel disapppointed it does not have a dedicated bird AF mode for the moment.. maybe a firmware update?

    • @HotGates
      @HotGates Месяц назад +1

      @@romainplagnol882 From what I heard is bird detect is implemented inside animal detect. Now with pre capture oh well it is what it is and there's nothing we can do, Why Nikon gives jpeg features only is not good but oh well, I'm actually thinking of moving over to Canon.

    where does the z6iii struggle in focus compared to the Z9?

    • @RachelBigsby
      @RachelBigsby  Месяц назад +4

      It’s hard to say, as there is no major difference - it’s not “technically” as good as the Z9 in my eyes simply because of the subject detection lacking bird detect as a stand alone feature but the Z6 III certainly didn’t struggle at any point. There wasn’t a single moment that I found it difficult or worse.
      I’d still give it 9/10

    • @timmasters4893

      @@RachelBigsby Would love to know how it does with Eye AF with moving subjects. In the past front or back focusing was common.

    • @bsc001
      @bsc001 Месяц назад +1

      In theory, the Z9 with its fully stacked sensor, will have better Af tracking vs the partially stacked sensor in the Z6iii, but bearing in mind the same processor used on both, most likely also the same algorithms used, as well as AF modes/aids, I would be surprised if there is a big performance delta wrt AF in practice.
      Even between my Z9 and Zf, it’s not that easy to differentiate, and the Zf only sports a BSI sensor.

      z9 has more af points, faster readout which can help some.

    Who counted the birds?

    • @RachelBigsby
      @RachelBigsby  Месяц назад +1

      The rangers of the reserve :-)
      There is extensive conservation work that takes place here, monitoring from a tower hide how many juvenile gannets are predated by seals when trying to fledge the colony.
      They need an accurate census to enable them to determine the population growth or decline, enabling them to take action.
      It happens across the world, and I myself used to assist with Razorbills. Hope this helps :-)
