  • Twenty local tractor enthusiasts brought machines of all makes and models to a farm west of Elburn on a bright sunny day in September to plow some wheat stubble. Participants checked out the other tractors, talked shop and showed that these antiques can still get some work done.

    Because of no 3 point hitch at the time,most are pulling trailer plows, thank you Harry Ferguson!

      The significant impact on Tractor advancement from the advent of the Ferguson System cannot be over stressed.
      When Harry Ferguson’s Patent expired in 1956, many Manufacturers, including Deere, instantly integrated the System onto Their Tractor line.
      However, They failed to give credit where credit was due.
      Actually, the Patent expired three years after the merger with Massey Harris.

    Second to the last tractor- Model G unstyled. General Purpose was the row-crop designation. GP was a totally different earlier model.

  • @proarcher6438
    @proarcher6438 11 лет назад +1

    The purpose was for row-cropping. the two skinny wheels were close together so that they ran in the same track.

    Lo buenos de estas ferias de demostraciones de tractores antiguos trabajando es que preparan terreno para cultivo entre todos, mancomunadamente ya que el dueño de la tierra se beneficia en preparar sus extensiones de suelo para siembra en menor tiempo. ¿ como se llama ese esfuerzo conjunto? ese es el secreto del éxito, todos para uno y uno para todos, el esfuerzo conjunto es admirable cuando uno lo hace con placer de ayudar miren como lo miren a pesar de todo, es diversión, compartir, mejorar técnicas de trabajo, enseñar a los niños con amor de como se hace y el amor que deberían de tener con el campo que es su mayor proveedor de alimento.-

    why do some of those tractors have the front wheels close together like a tricycle?

    • @slundgr
      @slundgr 3 года назад +1

      For row crop and a shorter turning radius than a wide front wheel tractor.

  • @carlosperez-cl2dw

    Cambien vemos lo que no se debe de hacer, un tractor no puede tener mas de una persona en su cabina de mandos porque son tractores antiguos que no tienen confort y seguridad para acompañantes, es peligroso llevar niños, un accidente podría ser fatal.-

    I grew up farming. Only about 1 in 8 of these guys plowing are real farmers. No disrespect, but a real farmer doesn't just drive the tractor up and down a row without looking at their implement they are dragging around. A real farmer spends most of their time concentrated on the implement they have in the ground. My old man would beat my ass if I wasn't paying attention to the implement I was pulling ended up getting broke.

    • @slundgr

    Yea, I grew up on a tractor and my kids have been on one since day one....city slickers just don't know, here in Tennessee the first thing you drove growing up was a tractor, so piss off pansy city waste

      Why so antagonistic? (edited out a bunch of stuff in defense of city dwellers which I wrote before scrolling down )
      Oh, I see, you are reacting to soaringtractor, never mind, then. He's a troll. In fact, I suspect he is emotionally unstable, or worse. Gotta feel sorry for folks like that. He is not representative of city folk. In fact, I don't know of any demographic or group that would want to be associated with him. Probably best just to treat him as a not-quite-bright child or an old person suffering from dementia, with a sort of gentle, tolerant condescension.
