I've been watching The Andy Griffith Show on Netflix lately and i get lost in it. I was born in '93 and my dad tried so hard to instill those wholesome values but they were diluted by the more modern times i was being raised in. When i watch that show i see why he tried so hard. It makes me almost teary when i finally turn it off for the day because i get so fascinated and lost in the simplicity and kindness of that era. I wish people still thought like that and treated each other like they do on the show. I try to do that. I'm in customer service and i try to make everyone in my small town leave my store smiling.
I guess I'm also making a longer story than needed to just say thanks for the upload. I appreciate seeing this.

I am only 14 and I love this show. it reminds me of simpler times when everything was more simple and people were more loving towards one another and the shows on TV were family friendly. Andy Griffith is truly a gift given to the world not only for his acting and entertainment but for the spark of love laughter and family he left with us today. Andy will always be remembered for that❤

I think it was called the Mayberry Motel, loved every minute of it . It's the closest thing to going back in time, and you don't have to give up all the great things you have now to do it.

Andy Griffith Show, I Love Lucy, Leave It to Beaver, The Twilight Zone, Bwitched, I Dream Of Jeanie, M*A*S*H, Taxi, Happy Days (Ron Howard was on that show), The Brady Bunch, The Carol Burnett Show, Fawlty Towers (A little harder to watch 'cause it's a British sit com, it's on Netflix), Family Ties, Full House, Family Matters, MacGyver, Magnum P.I., Matlock. 90's isn't old so I won't mention the 90's shows. That was 50's to 80's.

Life may have never been like that then... BUT that is Romanticism in art, that is to say, it is life as it should and ought to be. This aesthetic is not modern let alone post-modern. The important thing to consider concerning the Romanticist aesthetic is that it actually could be. It could be realized, just as any nightmare situation of the post-modern era. You might have heard someone say before 'life is what you make it.' This essentially is the artistic aesthetic of enlightenment ideals... The ideals that modernism and post-modernism torn down to be more realistic? What good has it served? Are they in actuality, more realistic? Perhaps, it's a less optimistic, not realistic and that's really all there is to it.

The wife and I took a weekend and visited Mount Airy . It is easy to see where Andy got his inspiration . Some folks that were renting out his childhood home (you can stay in it) were nice enough to let us go through the house . A really simple place .You would NOT believe how small Andy's room was . Pilot Mountain and the Derby Restaurant were cool and it has an easy going feel to the area . We'll go again because we hope to see Betty Lynn .

He took it in strde with his red hair and freckles!! He loved to fish and was a country boy at heart anyway! An excellent doctor! They call him that too at times. hahaha. I hated moving back to Memphis, but, I see the main doctor at the satellite office. So, it's all good. He laughed when I said I couldn't help calling his assoc. Opie. Yea, yea, I have heard that, too, he said. LOL. Ron Howard is so talented.

Thanks for taking the time to make your video of the museum including the entrance! I know it’s hard to stop at every single item when you’re filming a documentary and amazing you were allowed to film inside. The pause button on my iPhone allowed me to stop and read the many emblems and signs you briefly stopped at so that was not a problem at all. It made your movie last a half hour longer as I paused to read and take it all in. When I want to lower my blood pressure and desperate for a good laugh I look at TAGS! I thought maybe I was getting Alzheimer’s because I would watch it over and over again but then I wouldn’t be able to give the punch lines. Then again, Barney had problems saying the Constitution (“We The People...”) or the “Officer’s Oath”.
Anyway...”It’s gooood! I appreciate it, and goodnight!”

WOW!! GOOD STUFF!! With our country divided like nothing I ever seen before (im 54) along with great memories of days of staying home sick from school and getting excited to watch I Love Lucy at 8am (2 episodes) than Andy Griffith at 9am (2 episodes) and then i'd watch Bonanza for an hour. So now it's 11am i'm gonna have a bowl of soup/broth because i'm sick :) mind you, back to t.v, at 11am i would have to wait for the midday news to end. Than at 12 noon it was time for Twilight Zone (2 episodes) Yes at 54 I don't promote truancy, but hot damn; growing up in the 70s was still so different than today. And being that Andy was filmed in the 60s, I felt like I related to the same era of Andy and all of Mayberry RFD. Back to current time; Even though I don't watch much of anything on tv today, is because it has long lost that wholesome Golden Era because now it's no longer tv, it's called TEL/A/VISION......
I WISH ALL WELL, IF YOUR FAR RIGHT, IF YOUR FAR LEFT, IF YOUR LIBERTARIAN OR YOUR A CONSERVATIVE, GOD BLESS YOU ALL...

Great video! I am one of the youngsters that likes and watches The Andy Griffith Show pretty often, it was such a funny show. One of my favorite episodes is "The Loaded Goat" and "The Bank Job" any of the episodes where Barney discharged his gun, I loved, "Citizens Arrest" is another really funny one. I also liked all the episodes with Otis in it, couldn't stand The Darlings though although Earnest T. Bass was crazy, I still laugh so hard when he was on the show. One of the lines that cracks me up from an episode where Earnest T.'s there and Barney a few times mentions he'd take him out back behind the court house and give him a beating and Andy all episode long says "He'd kill ya." and at the end Helen says with this real serious face "He'd kill you."

I loved how Earnest T would say that too. I forgot to add, how it's pretty cool that 2 actors from M*A*S*H were guest stars on The Andy Griffith Show. Jamie Farr and William Christopher, which is obviously before M*A*S*H so I'd imagine the people who watched both shows back then if they remembered probably thought, how cool was this.

I auditioned there for something; don't remember what. All the names on that show were taken from nearby areas. Mayberry was inspired by nearby Danbury. Floyd Lawson's name came from Lawsonville and Floyd. Howard Sprague from Sprague St. Nelson's Funeral Home, where Gomer learned the Marine Corps Hymn was real. I have a pen from their secondary location in Danbury. In fact, I bought a lot of the acreage from Jones Nelson's funeral home. Pilot Mountain spawned the name of Mt. Pilot, which was really Mt. Airy. There are a ton of names from the area that most people don't know about. The name of Mayberry itself, was a bastardization of Danbury and Mabry Mill. Myers Lake was supposed to be just over the county line in Stokes County, which is real. It's where Danbury , Lawsonville and the funeral home are/were located.

Awwwww, I loved Andy Griffith! You never heard any scandals about him or Don Knotts. They were both funny without being vulgar. I got teary when you read the plaque in front of the statue. He was a great man.
Regarding Cheng and Eng, in Philadelphia, at the Mutter Museum, there is a post-mortem plaster body cast of the twins on display, along with their original, double-seat wicker chair on display. Now THAT is a museum you would live. It's all human oddities! My husband and I toured it a few years ago. Really interesting place.

Mount Airy is Andy Griffith’s hometown. People say that TAGS was based on Mt. Airy, but Andy said in interviews that it wasn’t. He said Mayberry was a fictional town where all problems were solved in 30 minutes, but Mt. Airy is a real town with real problems that aren’t so easily solved. Eventually, though, Andy quit fighting it. He said that if people want to believe and say that Mayberry was based on Mt. Airy, then let them.
The building that houses The Andy Griffith Playhouse and The Andy Griffith Museum used to be an elementary school. That’s where Andy went to school.

you are so right Rick, about TV LAND. they air trash at any time of night, while mutilating shows like this one and GUNSMOKE to make room for commercials. the episode where Barney is suspicious of a local farmer (played by the actor who was Patty Duke's dad)whose wife is expecting .Fife mentioned Marihuana in that episode, until they had to slash it out. also in the Christmas episode of GUNSMOKE ,they cut out the priceless ending which dares to have a verse of 'tidings of comfort and joy' to end the episode.they only care about their own trashy shows, and selling products at the expense of classic TV.

Young Andy Griffith looked a great deal like Opie or Ron Howard. I learned about Chang and Eng when I was 10. You would think they could cut that strip between them where that was found at autopsy neither of them had enough of their own organs to survive on their own.
