Waxed Canvas, sometimes called oilskin, needs to be retreated from time to time in order to maintain the waterproof qualities. This simple process will get your waxed canvas back to looking and performing like new. Thanks for watching and I hope to see you in the woods.
Great video, and fun to watch and listen to your passion for the waxed materials
I'm looking around for ways to reproof my old Drizabone bush hat, and thanks to you I think I'm all set to go. I'm really liking the look of your canvas bag and will look into what's available. You've got some good ideas there. Thanks mate.
You can find the wax online and in some western wear / tack supply stores. Largest can I have found is the Barbour wax, it would take several cans and cost a fortune to do a 10x10 tarp. I will put up a video of making your own wax just for you. I have done several tarps with the homemade wax with great results (Plus you can make half a gallon of it for around $20). Thanks for watching! Stay tuned for the video on making wax.
Thanks lad. I can save my favorite wax jacket now. :D
I've had one of those Drizabone coats since 1995. Take good care of them and they will last a lifetime.
Wayne Kerr Thanks for watching!
Thanks for sharing. I have a haversack I need to fix up and this should do the trick.
Thanks bro. I need to treat my coat to. Now I know how.
Yes you can, need to use a hair dryer or heat gun to really melt the wax into the material. The haversack in the video was not waxed canvas when I got it. It will darken the material, so be warned. Thanks for the comment!
Nice video bro
can you use mink oil ?
You can. It just seems that the other stuff lasts longer and is not as greasy. Thanks for watching!
