I loved this. It gave me chills. My children and I have been embarking on our home schooling to unschooling journey for a couple of years now. So glad I found Akilah through Lucy!
I Love This. Its so good. When you guys speak about unschooling you hit the nail right on the head.😁 I am married so I have the ability to unschool my kids while my husband works outside the home. One thing I think might, be a good idea is to have a video on what unschooling could look like to a single parent who has to work outside the home because they need the money and don't have that support or if that is even an option for them.
This is the first I’d ever heard of this woman Akilah and I think she is brilliant! Loved this interview and her wise words. Thank you for sharing this and I am definitely going to read her book!
As an Adult Autistic Woman, I Completely understand having to adjust your persona to those around you, just to make them feel comfortable! I've had to do it All my life and It Sucks!
Both of my grandmothers told me horrible stories of what it was like when they went to school. Both of my grandmas have been here in the states forever. One of my grandmothers is Native American and the other was born in Texas so our family goes back all the way before when Texas was Mexico lol. Anyway…. My grandmother from Texas was beat in school for speaking Spanish, this was a common practice up until the 1970s maybe even later. Because of this terrible discipline my grandmother felt shamed for who being who she was. She felt speaking Spanish or being Hispanic was second class. Due to this when she had kids she kept our family in a primarily white area and kept her kids away from culture except for the occasional protest for human rights. She was a humans rights activist too. Very complicated. Then she never taught her kids Spanish because she felt it was a pointless language because English needed to come first. My mom did learn on her own but because of these ideas my mom raised us in a same manner. We were kept from a lot of family and culture. We were not taught Spanish. This is how colonization works! It leaked all the way down to break apart our culture and change us into something we are not.
Time extra tough. Thumb down on so called normal schooling thank you for what you give I am here and you are there and golly I wanted to just give you big hugs hugs and thank you now. I'm listening to your guest now. TY 4 knowledge that you're both giving
Hi Lucy! I am so HAPPY you are back! I absolutely loved Lulastic and missed hearing from you. I donnot have kids hehe and not sure I will, but your positive energy and radical living is very inspiring! Besides schooling, do you think you can discuss self-care, partner, family and social relations, and your views on the kind of radical love-based changes we desperately need to make the world a better place of all living things? Just a kind request, but I welcome your decisions... Big hugs, love and Merry Christmas! PS. Your phrase "the purpose of life is not hapiness but love" really sinked in and changed my understanding of life and the human crises... THANK YOU!
And I'll add in my own off beat way being a twinless twin beyond that I'll explain another day in another way thank you. The children need to be left to think on their own instead of all that we've been trying to process through them . I'm agreeing with all that you say and thanking you again. 💞🎶🕊️🌎🌍🎶💞
The more I research into the “alternatives “ in relation to our society, the more I see that in reality factory farming began with people. Just as organic foods shouldn’t be labeled as different rather the GMOs and chemical foods should come with warning labels. People are being labeled as “nutty” when in reality they are beautiful creative independent thinkers. Check out Green Renaissance channel, beautiful films. 💚 and 🙏 Lucy!

Glad you loved it! On my unschooling podcast (Fare of the Free Child), there are several interviews with single parent unschoolers.

So good. Hehe - my partner & I often say unschooling should come with a warning - so much healing is found on this journey. Awesome video 🙏🏻🙏🏻✨

yes all of this!
I like watching your video 👍🤝✌️🤩
Defining schooling as uncolonizing the minds of people. Yes. This is the era for receiving this correction in mind set. School at home : I like it.
5:11 yep yep yepTY
Right! This one was a massive aha for me!
Could it be that in terms of racism, sexism, control over the masses and male hierarchy, before there was colonialism, there was religion.
