Interpol is a part of me, i can"t make a objetive commentary, i love them, thanks for even trying to get to them. This album is gold and this track a master piece.

Interpol were mostly compared to the post-punk movement when this album was released. Bands from the 70s and 80s, such as Joy Division, Echo & The Bunnymen, Siouxsie & The Banshees. The did end up touring with The Cure, there's definitely some influence in there too. It's such a strong album. Should listen to it track by track, it won't disappoint. Also, the band is Interpol, not PDA, as you said at the end :)

Oh did I really say that? That's a rare error I missed haha 😅😂

@@KasperReacts Think you said it three times 🤣 which is definitely not like you. Regardless, I think you'd seriously love that album on a full listen. 'Obstacle 1' has a fierce bass line.

@@kylegacy oh yeah I've just got round to watching that part back, I must've had it in my head they were called PDA from that one song 😂

Don't forget the Chameleons, though truthfully people don't really compare them but once I heard the Chameleons I thought Interpol sounded more like them than JD.

it's post-punk revival. technically the same as the strokes, early am, and killers if they were more rock than pop.
i don't know if you were, but you really gotta listen to the basslines of this and obstacle 1. perhaps some of the best bass work i've ever heard was on this album
there's a live version of the new with them playing in studio that's pretty good.

I've became a big fan of Interpol after making these reactions and Obstacle 1 is my favourite one, the bass line is class

This song and album is stellar. But for me the 2nd half of this track is on another level.

It's "indie rock" which isn't terribly descriptive, I know. They were part of the rock revival of the early 00s when there were lots of then current bands who were heavily influenced by post-punk. This album is so meaningful to me. I saw their video for PDA on MTV and was intrigued enough to buy their CD. I loved it enough to check them out live and joined their message board the night before the show. I made a few friends that I'm still good friends with today and I was introduced to SO MANY new and old bands (lots of post-punk, new wave, and punk from England). I got to see *so* many shows. It was the most fun time of my life and I'm glad I got to experience it thanks to Interpol and their message board.
Edit: You could basically pick anything off of that album and it'll be a winner 😄

I think "alternative rock" is not at all a genre, but only useful for naming the stand/section in only mostly-suburban record/CD shops...
