Having been frustrated trying to installe -AN4 fittings onto steel braided hose I stumbled across this kinda on my own---glad to see someone had already thought of it. Thinking out loud it would be great incorporating this process into the Koul Tool Hose End Assembly Tool(s).
Wow! Thanks! I had no idea the fitting was threaded like that. I don’t have a set of vise jaws so I’m holding the 6an hose by hand and with my Palm ratchet the fitting screwed on in no time!
I believe all the flexible hose AN fittings like this are reverse (left hand) threaded. Every video I see on youtube shows people twisting them on wrong and complaining that they are impossible to work with......you can't fix stupid...not even with duct tape
Its not that hard. The trick is to not get the braid to fray. Get a cable cutter and wrap the end of the hose in Duct tape......Cut in the middle of the duct tape and voila!
Wow....... "doesn't matter how fuzzy???" I'm gonna try this today......see how it goes? Will this work without a Koul Tool? I don't have one and would like to get done today.....
I ended up ordering a Koul Tool on Amazon and it came in like 24 hours. It actually worked quite well. I could not take my braided hose to the vise so I actually held everything together with vise grips and whatnot and I was able to get the AN fittings together well.
Man, I see why crap sells on QVC and infomercials 😂 I bet you look at all the "AS SEEN ON TV" products on the shelf at the store too. Come on old timer, you made it this long without one you ought to know by now that you don't need it.
@@koultools The sarcasm I like. 1 out of 30 attempts allows such ease. For people complaining it's not threading it down but getting it started to begin with. You do that with nylon woven it bunches up into a rats nest. Super tight wind of tape sucking the o.d. down a mm....nope, walking it in with a baby flat head...nope...all your body weight....nope...stainless doesn't do that nylon does.
My hoes keeps coming off the red fitting. Why is that? I installed it using take and made sure it is all the way go the edge. I even made a line with a marker to make sure the hose didn't push down during the installation. Any ideas why this is happening?
Best advise I've ever received for an fittings
I have all of you KOOL TOOLS. I cannot thank you enough. I was using this tip and I thought I was an original. You are the man.

God bless you Sir,,, Top notch Sir, indeed it’s a koul tool.
You learn something everyday this is the first time I knew about & saw a palm wrench.
That's because people with common sense just put their palm on tge back of the rachet. BOOM 💥 mind blown 😂
I know someday I'd need some braided hose, and can already see myself not cussing when using this tool. Thanks for the awesome quick video!

holy shit. I've been working with auto plumbing for over 20 years and never thought to do that.
Thanks!
What is the brand of your palm wrench? I would like to buy one.
Snap On
When you ready to make those dash 20 install kit? We need'em.
It would also help if you twisted the fitting counterclockwise they way the threads are build
Threads run both ways hence a "braid"
I wish i had that tool last time i assembled some hoses, my fingers wudda thank me for it.
Socket does same thing . been doing it for years. Not all AN fittings have threads in seat .
THANKS! gonna save me time when I install my custom fuel system and will guarentee its leak free :D
That's awesome !!!
Thanks Robert
awesome,!
Where can I find the palm wrench that you used? I have 71 year old hands.
mine are 83 years old and I have had that wrench since the middle 50's.....Don't know if they even make them any more. Use a ratchet wrench ..

Can I use these lines to replace plastic vacuum lines
Yes, but you must be able to use AN fittings for the hose on both ends.
Where can I purchase this tool will be needing it soon
Thanks for your interest in our tool. It's available here: koultools.com/product/an-hose-assembly-tool/
What if you don’t have a vice...?
😄🙌🏼
what about -3...do you have any for that size
No, we only have -4 to -16.
?????
But how are you supposed to get the hose into the fitting to begin with? Getting started is also the big issue.
You're right. We show how to do this at 0:28

This must be the mechanics god
I like the idea.... But Snap-On prices for something I could make in an hour off a 3d printer?!?! I'll keep doing it the hard way.
Aren't the threads left handed??? so confused
yes they are , but with this method it will work both ways.

There is a way to clamp both the hose and fitting with AN vise jaws. We have a blog post about that here: koultools.com/clamp-stainless-steel-hose/
Palm wrench is cool but a regular ratchet will do.
yes indeed
