  • Writer director Taika Waititi (THOR: RAGNAROK, HUNT FOR THE WILDERPEOPLE), brings his signature style of humor and pathos to his latest film, JOJO RABBIT, a World War II satire that follows a lonely German boy (Roman Griffin Davis as JoJo) whose world view is turned upside down when he discovers his single mother (Scarlett Johansson) is hiding a young Jewish girl (Thomasin McKenzie) in their attic. Aided only by his idiotic imaginary friend, Adolf Hitler (Taika Waititi), Jojo must confront his blind nationalism.

I see your point, but I honestly think it's a good time for this kind of film to come out with the current rise in populist leaderships and corrupt regimes around the world. A satire film that pokes fun at a dictator , and thereby weakens the dictator through humour, is very welcome. I have no doubt that Taika is well aware that there are some idiots out there who will bleat 'This film is promoting Nazism!' among other inanities or who won't 'get' the film, but I'm very glad that he took on this film - it looks fantastic from the trailers.
