This has good intent but I’m scared the public won’t see it that way
Kungfugripp Gaming Its the same thing with the Joker movie - A serious and realistic take on a not so serious or realistic character, while also bringing light to actual problems that play society. This movie is about anti hate and its whole idea is that war is stupid. But like you said people who say stupid shit probably won’t go see it and make an attempt at understanding it.
Turn a blind eye on them. Public are idiots anyway, so why listen to them
I see your point, but I honestly think it's a good time for this kind of film to come out with the current rise in populist leaderships and corrupt regimes around the world. A satire film that pokes fun at a dictator , and thereby weakens the dictator through humour, is very welcome. I have no doubt that Taika is well aware that there are some idiots out there who will bleat 'This film is promoting Nazism!' among other inanities or who won't 'get' the film, but I'm very glad that he took on this film - it looks fantastic from the trailers.

Lol
Nice. Lil' Bob Pigeon is the name?
More like the sequel that Jojo and Yorkie were split apart with Germany back when the end of WWII.
The only difference is that the vast majority of Russians still believe that Joseph Stalin was a good man, a prophet, a messiah, someone who won the war and beat the Germans without anybody's help. Not a tyrant, who killed millions of his own people, a leader, a father of nation.
Who else cannot wait for this? This will be my new year film!

Just watched this movie and it was the most refreshing movie I’ve seen in a really long time. It was brilliantly directed, funny as hell and pulled right at the heartstrings. Its getting unfair reviews due to its controversial nature by some critics. Please just go watch this yourself and judge it as you will. It’s an outstanding film
same. Saw it last night. The trailers for all the other movies had me rolling eyes and wondering if I even like the movies anymore. So predictable, formulaic with a political agenda. This was so refreshing.
Pfft yeah those critics can kiss my ass. This is one of those movies where you don't wanna trust the critics.
Saw it today. Loved it.

@@richardrobbin2731 I didn't emotionalize over it - if that's even a word - but I thought it was very creative. Nazis will hate it, and that's good.
«Now this is my kind of little boy’s bedroom”
This is creepy on so many levels 😂
Why does this make me feel like it's a Wes Anderson film whilst also clearly not being.
Because of the clear visual inspiration from Moonrise Kingdom! I mean even the actor (Edward Norton) is the same.
@123Filmfreak What? Edward Norton isn't in this movie.
I few seconds into the preview i thought it was a Wes Anderson film but i think it looks marvelous, this guy did What we do in the shadows and i think is of the same brilliance perhaps a lil more directed at humour whilst Anderson is Subtle and i remember when i saw The life Aquatic, nobody except me and my friend laughed , i was in stitches as i find his movies hilarious, im very excited to see this.
This director is slightly compairable but much more silly and i would say heartwarming. Also it's hard not to be reminded of moonrise kingdom just because Hitler Youth wore uniforms like scouts. Check out some of his other films if you haven't.( Im avoiding spelling his name wrong. )
nematoad im Australian so i think i really get his humour ,us and kiwis are like that , we take the piss out of things ...
“Too soon”??? So the WW2 comedies made in the 40s, 50s, 60s, 70s & 80s didn’t exist?
Ikr? It wasn't too soon for Charlie Chaplin's Dictator? Lol
You do know that WWII ended in 1947 dumb ass.
“Dont mention zee war...”
Roguegamer113 Whiskey Galore was made in 1949 “dumb ass”
1945 actually.
It's depressing that there's controversy about this film being a comedy set in WW2 when for decades we've had the likes of Dad's Army Catch 22, Allo Allo etc
I did kind of get a Hogan’s hero’s or Allo allo vibe from this, so I’ll give it a watch
@@Jockster109 Just like Joker.

I LOVE THAT MOVIE!!
OmFG that movie is amazing 🤣
Werewolves, not swearwolves
"Do the bloody dishes!"
The possession of shame is my favorite scene lol
I like how a movie with about a boy in Nazi Germany who’s imaginary friend is Hitler is going to get less hate than the Joker movie
That's because one might be an actually good movie, while the other just sucks
@IHatePteranodons It was a critique on capitalism? I didn't get that while watching. Could you explain?
Not that I agree with the criticism but it was clear that people were drawing parallels between real life mass shootings and people becoming radicalized and the Joker movie. It was mainly the timing. Jojo Rabbit seems to be alot more lighthearted regardless of Hitler. If that makes any sense lol.
Probably because the Hitler film is actually against hate and is filled with so much joy that you can't help but be moved in a positive way. While Joker was a good film, it certainly wasn't a happy film that made me go home and hug my kids.
@IHatePteranodons Have to disagree. The film criticizes something incredibly relevant, of have you never seen a Trump rally? Nazis and their evil are unfortunately alive and well today.

In France which was definitely in the middle of the war, they started making very popular comedies about WW2 in the 60s 😂 My grand mother who used to live under Nazi’s occupation used to love these movies and laugh. Also, everyone is somehow related to ww2, it was a world war.

Well, I mean it is a quite weird and controversial to depict Nazis in a casual light. Nazis and fascism are terrible
Casting Scarlett Johansson as the mother was brilliant. Out of love most kids know their mother as the most beautiful woman in the world, and mid 30s Scarlett Johansson brought in just that level of charm, too little and you won’t like the mother, too much and you’ll want to date the mother.

Yes, yes. Very much heard about it. Catherine Howard brags about it all the time to me. And we just listen to the music.
The great thing about this movie is that it tackles a subject which can be incredibly dark and handles it in a way that is both optimistic and satirical yet still respectful. It handles a difficult topic with care, and knows what not to do. That’s the great thing about Taika; he can handle a dark situation with enough heart to make it funny but enough respect to make it heartwarming and sensible.
Sam Rockwell: God help me
But seriously I'm exited for this film, looks hilarious and parts of it are shot in my country(Czech Republic)
