Get close and Boom two hit true combo that’ll stagger you out of hyper armor, god forbid they have a weapon because that’ll turn into a 3 hit combo. Your only option is to stay away and just roll forever because there’s nothing else you can do, besides wait for them to run out of FP (it uses 5 fp)
Because it's not op, it's pretty easily telegraphed dodgable and even parryable, same as all the other smithscripts. Meanwhile with my sword of night and flame I can almost one shot my friend with over 60 in vigor with the flame attack. THAT ladies and gentlemen, would be what is op. People spamming the same attack over and over because they can't win otherwise when they see their opponent is shit at dodging, is not op, that's a player problem on the host and the invader

Remove is kind of extreme. Mind you also retreated into mobs, but I'm mostly a PVE player that mostly solos the game save for bosses. Either a person would need to have a bow and stay out of range or close the distance with fast weapons to break the guard. However, unless FromSoft makes it where the PVE mobs attack the invaders, the invader will have an advantage in close spaces with mobs.
from what i know its bugged, the smithscript weapons get ton of physical scaling once they get infused, even tho str dex goes to E they get like +200 physical AR along side the elemental dmg
i don’t think that’s a bug, the smithscript weapons always have faith and int scaling governing their physical dmg, so it just increases when you bump that scaling up. the Erdsteel dagger from the base game does that too i’m pretty sure. that being said, you can’t put any infusions on the shield, so that’s not even an issue here.

The problem is that it protects you like any shield, it can be thrown and used as a ranged weapon, when thrown it can follow enemies, it has a long range, it does more damage than a sword, and it can be thrown faster than any other weapon that is launched. The other weapons that can be thrown, such as the mace or the spear, have many disadvantages, none of them follow the enemies like the shield, they lower your stamina a lot, in the case of the spear, you need it to charge the attack to do decent damage, and the maso takes too long to launch.
Shift slash and that naoya torch bug need to be removed. Everything else is fine or will be fine after a light nerf. This shield is ok if it would cost more fp and without the already mentioned bug, where you can apply damage from your right hand weapon on the shield.
In reality this shield is much more "balanced" than the rest of the game weapons and abilities, that is, look at the broken builds that exist, the ash of war of the perfumes that one-shots the bosses, the ash of war of the reverse blades.. and much more. The developers forgot that this game has a PvP mode 😢

Kind of sounds like a skill issue from what I see. If you can't defeat a person who's blocking most of your stuff, then I think you need to develop a new strategy. It's like a common thing with video games like fighting as well. Should we get rid of blocking in those games if you can't have the shield.
Tbf the shield has since been nerfed. Still a really good sidearm though. Another weapon that needs work is the Greatsword of Damnation. Those hitboxes are so broken that it will still grab you during i-frames. Although I love these weapons, I've never seen so many items with poor playtesting QC.

Even if it did little to no damage, the stagger is still enough to combo into other things and break neutral; just spam this and force dodges until either they roll close enough that you can hit them in the ending of their dodge or they run out of stamina and you can run in and get free shots off. In short; very little skill required to use, immediately forces opponent to play aggressively or use their stamina meter - both of which are easily punished.

It takes the same weapon buffs as your right hand, so if you cover your right hand armament with something it'll have the same buff

I played in the 1v1 arena and faced a guy who for the 300seconds of the game did this, the entire time.
For a skill with decent range with reasonable amounts of damage, it's quite fp efficient. Your fp barely moved at all.
