Some truly remarkable speedrunning. As a non-Goldeneye player apart from some casual playing as a kid, and having not touched PD I’ve still loved this series. The nerd in me does love the exploration of the game and the absolute dedication in finding these flaws. Still I do feel it slightly a shame that it made the triple laser skip obsolete as there was something crazy in the pure execution of that, as you mentioned. Great video as ever Goose.
Goose, had to tell you that I have been speedrunning in Final Fantasy XIV in the last few weeks and I have been able to either establish some dungeon world records (similar to Goldeneye/Perfect Dark), as well as beat some other records and improve on my own. I'm really going for it and I have you to thank for showing me that you don't have to beat a game in full to set a video game speed run World Record.
I dont speedrun anything or even really watch speedrunners. I dont really ever plan on it either but i still watch your videos because you make everything so interesting.
I think this is what makes speedruns so fascinating compared to other kinds of feats. There are ALWAYS new stuff getting uncovered and new methods exploited.
The more I watch this and the manipulation techniques, the more I appreciate this being timed with in-game time instead of real time. This video helps it make perfect sense to me.
RWhiteGoose doesnt this run bring up the problem of ingame vs realtime again then, like at 14:22 he just waits 30 seconds, and the runs overall are now constantly checking the watch
I love how everyone was trying so hard to overcome the speed restrictions of the level with complicated laser skip tactics, and what actually busts the level open is a simple bot zooming trick.

Did anyone ever experiment doing the glitch when the bot decelerates? Does it cause additional negative acceleration causing the bot to go backwards or does the speed value roll over and goes at a max speed forward?
Doesn't have to do with different exploits, the Japanese version is generally just less laggy, and thus easier to play. It also can give seemingly better odds for things like NPC movements (getting faster Elvis on Attack Ship, for example). There actually is one very big version exclusive exploit, where the Farsight can shoot further on PAL. Because of this, PAL is the only viable version for speedrunning Deep Sea Agent and Special Agent (the exploit saves no time on Perfect Agent).
I'm not 100% sure if the zooming trick has been optimised, but assuming if, without zooming and on SA/PA, the bot will move consistently quickly after the bot is activated. Therefore, if we know exactly when, down to the second, it will accelerate, we can do "blind" zooms more reliably. Perhaps spend some time to just follow the bot instead of completing the objectives.

This game was ahead of its time. I member playing multiplayer with the bots for hours and hours. And the fact you can change the bots personality like ones that go after the top player. One that slaps you and takes your gun etc. was amazing and I wished cod would have done something like this. Too fav games

If you own an xbox 360 or and xbox one, I'd highly recommend checking out the remastered version of the original Perfect Dark that was released on xbox live arcade in 2010. It is a very faithful remake that fixed the framefrate issues and gives you the option to play the game with 2 joysticks, both of which are godsends. The gunplay in the game feels amazing with a constant fps and a second joystick, much better than it did on n64 in my opinion. It's definitely worth the 10$.

Does just spamming the camera item thing not work? Because the way it looks, time stops while you're paused. So can you not just keep using the item during the blind attempts to make it virtually 100% reliable?
No, the camera has to be coming out while the bot is accelerating, and you have to allow the lag of it coming out to happen. If you constantly select/deselect it frame perfectly then that lag won't happen, and if you let it come out too early and let the lag occur, the bot will already have moved too far by the time you select the camera again.

It was supposed to be a back to back Speedlore on November 30th and December 1st but because of this stupid drama who knows when it'll be.

Never played Perfect Dark. Bought Goldeneye but never had opportunity to play PD as a kid. Kinda thinking I should have.

Actually you can get the same effect when using the combat stims. I've noticed that my character seems sped up after the effect ends.
Not the same effect, it's a placebo from the game speeding back up.
