Golden Globes 2020: Awkwafina makes history with best actress win for 'The Farewell'

Awards season in Hollywood has officially kicked off with the Golden Globes. Rapper and actress Nora Lum, also known as Awkwafina, made history. She become the first woman of Asian descent to win a Globe for best actress in a musical or comedy, for her role in "The Farewell". Meanwhile, Korean director Bong Joon Ho's "Parasite" won best foreign-language film. Streaming service Netflix won just two awards, despite over 30 nominations.

"The Farewell" is AMAZING! It's easily one of the best films I've seen in years. I laughed, I cried ... I learnt some things about Chinese culture and also realized that my family handled my Grandma passing in a similar way. It's a beautiful film, every step of the way. Essential viewing for anyone dealing with loss or the death of a loved one. Well done Awkwafina! This young woman deserves many accolades for her beautiful performance.
