- Made a quick tutorial on how to install a Creator Pro profile for Ultimaker Cura!
I couldn't find any videos out there so I thought it may help some people!
let me know if you want a video to dive deeper into the .json files that I used in this tutorial and what is inside them (and possibly how you can make one on your own for another printer that is not listed in the Cura machine library).
Share this with your friends who have the Creator Pro, and if you couldn't figure it out, ask your questions in the comment section and the community will help!
***
make sure your X3G file name is not long! the printer doesn't show longer file names!
also, in the latest version of Cura, Flashforge Dreamer is included and that interferes with Creator Pro's profile! so I would just follow the same steps as I show in the video and then delete the profiles that belong to Dreamer!

In Cura 5, the folder Resources is in Ultimaker Cura 5.0.0 > share > cura > resources
Thank you!
I love you big bro
Thank you so very much!!! This really helped me... the 3D world needs more people like you😀
Can't thank you enough. Needed this step by step and without flying through. Works.
this was a HUGE help. Thank you!!
Thank you for the video man, tried doing this a few months ago but could not get through the install and gave up. This was the most straightforward video about it. Thanks!
In Cura 5.4 I have no idea of the exact paths for the sub folders, but if you can go to the main Ultimaker file he shows from the Program Location just do a search in the file explorer with the 3 corresponding folder names and you'll be fine.
Thank you for the tutorial
Thank you for this, working in Cura 5.2.2 - much appreciated!
You got the printer to show up?
This video is super useful! Thank you so much!! Straight to the point, everything worked.
Thanks for the video. I can use Cura now! The new directory tree is already shared by Alejandro CaFe in the comments
This is exactly what I was looking for, excellent video
This was super useful. I changed my extruder nozzles to 0.6mm, and wanted to use Cura as the FF slicer would not allow that change. Thank you!
Hi Luke! Really the Flashprint has an option to select the 0.6mm nozzle, just click in the printer name in the bottom left corner, select nozle size and change to 0.6mm. I'm using version 5.3.3
@@orlandofanti but can you select multiple materials? I can’t with the creator 3 pro, just the PLA it’s available
@@rafiuxxx29 I'm not sure, I am using Flashprint for Creator Pro 2. When slicing there's options for materials on both extruders, and this works fine, I've used a few times.
Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!!!!!
I installed using both the install.sh and manually but only the Dreamer NX would appear. I modified the definitions file creator_pro.def.json to read "id":"flashforgecreatorpro" (which matches the extruders machine id) and this fixed the problem. I now have the FFCP working in Cura 4.11.0. Just posting this in case someone else has the same issues :)
I’m having this issue can you walk me through
You have just saved my ass, thank you for this
Thank you this was very helpful... cheers
Good video, i have been using this profile for a while for my ffcp and it works well.
Thanks man, excellent tutorial.
Thank you so very much!!!
Hi Ali, thanks for the instructions.
I have now received a Flashforge Creator Pro (without number / first generation) as a gift
I am currently using the older Cura version 4.6. with the Github profile for the FFCP.
But I have two problems:
The first problem is if I want to use the Cura version 5.8.1, then my print bed will not heat up. That is why I am currently using version 4.6.
Why is my print bed not heating up?
The second problem is in version 4.6 and also 5.8.
If I assign their extruders to the two parts of the print object
- Object 1 - extruder right
- (object 2 - extruder left
then center and mix the two objects, the result in the slicer is OK.
The preview is OK.
However, when I then print, both objects are offset in the y-axis.
The printed part of extruder left is shifted backwards by 2.3mm.
If I move the part that is to be printed with the nozzle on the left by 2.3 mm from the
the origin in the y-direction, then the result in the print is OK, but the wall is offset and the print is therefore unclean.
If I enter the value 2.3 for "Nozzel Offset Y" in the "Nozzel Settings" of the left nozzle in the printer settings, each layer is always shifted by 2.3 mm. This is OK for the first layer, but each subsequent layer is always shifted by 2.3 mm in the Y direction.
What can I do to solve the problem?
Thanks for your help in advance
Greetings
Frank

rapaz muito obrigado me salvo muito , otimo video perfeita explicação vc nasceu para isso obg tmj
Thanks for the tutorial, I don't know why but it doesn't matter which extruder I select , the printer is always printing with the right extruder "T0".
Extruder 1 is not enable.
Tks a lot, Works fine to slice 2 objects, but the merge option does not work for dual printing. It doesn't recognize the origin of the stls. It merges, but in a wrong way.
it also gives me the same problem. were you able to solve it? thank you
for newer cura it youshould use this way rather than going into resources in cura as it no longer exists (C:\Users\your_username\AppData\Roaming\cura)
I first used the updated directory that @alejandrocafe8238 posted and the printer would show in the list, but cura would crash whenever I tried to add it. I put the files where you suggested and it worked. Thanks!
Thanks a lot! Do you knkw how to use both the extruder on the same print?
I have a flashforge creator pro 2. I can not get the 2nd extruder to show up for dual extursion?
This work for the creator pro 2?
I was able to fix the setup in Cura, but have another issue. My Flashforge Creator Por IDEX does not recognize the files converted to X3G files. They won't show?
works but how would I do this for the adventure 3 pro
My Printer does not show up in the list. I just have the Flashforge Dreamer which I do not need 🤷♂️
I had the same problem. The Dreamer comes with Cura 4.9 - What eventually worked is that I deleted flashforge_dreamer_nx.def & flashforge_base.def from the definitions folder. Next time I started Curra the Creator pro was given as the only option when adding a printer.
@@dustinhartlyn326 It worked thank you!
@@dustinhartlyn326 thank you, that worked for me
@@dustinhartlyn326 Worked for me as well. Thank you.
@@dustinhartlyn326 haha i tried that and now i don't even get the flashforge drop down tab
Just got a dreamer nx. Need help. Thank you.
Amazing video, I've downloaded and installed Cura, configured the printer, all following the recommended steps, in the final one, the X3GWriter plugin is not available in the marketplace. Any suggestion on how to overcome this problem?
Rolling back to Cura 4.9 instead of 5.0 works for me
Trying on my Mac and always get an error when CURA starts up.
I set it up but for some reason it doesn't extrude?
Hi I need cura settings for dreamer nx
I'm having issues with my computer not recognizing the printer when it's plugged in, and there by not allowing me to print directly from Cura. Did you run into this issue as well? I've been looking for a fix but so far have found nothing.
As far as i know you actually can't do that! FFCP does not work directly with any slicer and you have to use SD card for your print jobs! Quite a bummer to be honest!
Can this be used for Creator Pro 2 (IDEX)?
@Soup unable to get cura working with my FFCP2
I can't tell you first hand since I don't have that machine myself, but I made a video on how you can create a working profile for technically any 3D printer! (ruclips.net/video/Bk8oWcC3kBU/видео.html)
if you couldn't find a profile for FFCP2 online, you might wanna check that video out and tweak some of the settings to match your printer! you already have a profile that works for FFCP, so I don't anticipate it to take much time to adjust it for FFCP2!
@@alirassi5697 Yes, I tried that, but it sent the IDEX print heads on the FFCP2 crashing into each other.
@Soup No, and since S3D does work properly, I have given up on CURA until they offer profiles that actually work with the IDEX FFCP2.
Ali, thanks for this video!!! I did EXACTLY as you say and installed 4.8, copied the files over, loaded a sample STL file into Curr and saved it as a .x3g file. I am about to purchase a Flash Forge Creator 3 Pro early next week, and I wanted to be sure that I could use code generated from Cura and have it simply translated over to be accepted by Flash Forge. Does anybody have any concerns about Flash Forge and its ability to keep its firm\ware stable? By this I mean if I go ahead and purchase one of their machines, will I have forward compatibility with the Gcode that is generated or does FF make changes in its firmware over time to re-map or modify what Gcodes mean to their printers once translated? I saw a recent video (not old at all!) that is claiming Flash Forge makes firmware mods and then such changes are not allowing for existing code to operate as it once did. If this is true (not saying it is), it would be a HUGE deal to anybody trying to use open standard Gcodes. Any input is much appreciated.
There are no parameters files to add the creator 3 pro on Cira, I am getting crazy now because I can not set up the machine for different materials!
@@rafiuxxx29 I love the Creator 3 Pro, but I too am struggling to set it up to use TPU. I still have a ton to learn. So far, I can. Open an STL in Cura and slice it, but so far I always have to send the file to the printer using Flash Print.
@@gordonhope9219 but how can you slice it if the creator 3 pro Is not listed on CURA?? 😱
@@rafiuxxx29 I located a profile for a dual head Flashforge Creator 2 and COPIED it then edited it for the larger bed of the Creator 3 Pro. I do not really like the way Flash Print scores its "custom materials". They should allow you to add a material profile and name it so it is easy to select.
@@gordonhope9219 oh wow ! And does it works?? Just you change the bed sizes and that’s all? The extrusor heads positions are the same? Thanks for your help buddy
Hi Ali, very interesting! I have Cura 5 though and can't find the same folder system. Any suggestions? I will try to find an older Cura 4 to test it until I figure it out.
i found it for CUra 5.0: C:\Program Files\Ultimaker Cura 5.0.0\share\cura

@@Wolf-Odonnell Thanks so much!
@@Wolf-Odonnell will be great to be able to use Cura for the Flashforge printer!
after messing with it ive found that it DOES NOT work with 5.0 but seems to work like a dream with 4.12 just FYI. im sure it would work with 5.0 with some tweaking but im not big brained enough for that so DUAL INSTALLS IT IS
@@Wolf-Odonnell I installed it on both 4.12 and 5. The problem is now that my Creator doesn't "see" the files ending in X3G.
Seems it only sees gx and I can't find a functioning converter.
Hi !! thank you for your video ;). I followed the procedure you give. Everything seems to be working until I put the sd card into the printer ...
the file appears but nothing happens ... No reaction. an idea ? Thank you very much !! ;)
I would open up the .x3g file with FlashPrint to see whether it shows anything or not. if it's showing a flat surface on the print bed, it means probably you are doing something wrong in the process of converting the g-code to .x3g.
I could reproduce this. it might be that you are opening your stl file directly via Cura. try opening Cura first, and then import your file into the slicer.
This also happens if the filename is too large, or has spaces.. use alphanumeric with a - or a _ with no spaces and keep it short.
What windows do you have? Trying to work with windows 10 safe mode...
I'm on windows 10 home, but I don't see why it shouldn't work on other versions of windows!
Hi! How to change the steps_per_mm default value for X and Y axes in creator_pro.def.json file? I am trying to enter a value but something is not working for me ... I changed the gears and I have to correct this difference.
Additionally, I have mac os big sur so ReplicatorG or Pronterface don't work ... I want the change to be in config, not G-Code. Is there a way to do this?
Hey
I made another video about changing and customizing the JSON file!
you can watch it here: ruclips.net/video/Bk8oWcC3kBU/видео.html
@@alirassi5697 Thanks for the answer!
I tried to change the steps_per_mm values (lines 66-69) in the file C: \ Users \ AppData \ Roaming \ cura \ 4.9 \ definitions \ creator_pro.def
But it made no difference.
I replaced the gears in the printer and had to change the Steps_per_mm {"default_value": 94.117647} to {"default_value": 100} in lines between 66 and 69, but it has no effect.
Where did I go wrong?
Do I have to delete and add the printer to Cura after changing the config file?
I'm not good at programming and I have to fix this value as soon as possible because I have to print one thing for an anniversary gift for my parents.
@@JayJayProd I thought it should've have worked!
but now that I think about it, you might have to change that value in the firmware! but I haven't tried changing that value in Sailfish!
my experience is more in Marlin firmware!
@@alirassi5697
And where and in what file should this modified SPM value be located? Can you help me point out where this value should be placed?
Should I put this value in another file or on a different line?
How should it be written?
"Steps_per_mm": {value: 100},
"Steps_per_mm": {value: 100}
"Steps_per_mm": value: 100,
"Steps_per_mm": 100,
"Steps_per_mm": {100}
"Steps_per_mm": {100}
"Steps_per_mm": [100]
"Steps_per_mm": [100]
Maybe it formats this command wrong ... As I said - I'm not a good programmer, actually, I'm not a programmer 😜
Can I use this setting for Flashforge Dreamer?
Flashforge dreamer is included in the latest version of Cura!
Would you be interested in creating a plug and play Cura profile for the FFCP II with IDEX for PAY? If we can agree on a price, I would pay you to do this and I'll bet others would buy it as well. I realize you don't have the printer to work with, and that could be the deal breaker of course, because I wouldn't know how to get you one to use for the development of it? Please let me know, and I will understand if you don't want to or can't. THANKS FOR THE GREAT VIDEOS!
hey Jerold! so, yeah I looked it up and it's a bit different! and the way I usually go about it is changing a couple settings at a time, run it on the machine, and then debug to eventually get to where i want! but as you mentioned I don't have the machine myself and i dont really think it's possible for me now! though i should say, i'm thinking about making a video about using Prusa Slicer with FFCP and that may or my not work with FFCP II! but in case you are willing to spend money, i would suggest checking out Simplify 3D. i haven't tried it because if there is a free alternative, i would never buy a software lol but i understand if you rather stick with a single slicer for your workflow! but again, Prusa slicer (Slic3r) is also very powerful and might help. so check back in a while in case i got to make a tutorial for that as well!
