That winch has a series wound motor, and the contactor reverses the direction that the field winding is connected to make it go in or out. You can't make it run just by jumping one terminal to the battery like that. Depending which way you want it go, with the contactor disconnected, connect the battery positive to one end of the field winding (either the yellow or the black connector boot) and the other end of the field (either the black or the yellow connector boot) to the armature (the red boot).
I live an hour from Indy. I love your channel. I have a 1972 corvette stingray. It’s always been a dream for my car to be worked on by someone who knows about those cars!
Can I just say how awesome it is to see a bunch of gear heads getting paid to be gear heads and enjoy being around other gear heads.. this channel is awesome. Faster with Finnegan is awesome and then there's Roadkill of course... setting the bar for awesomeness for years now. You guys keep it up.
Have to say this channel is the best automotive RUclips channel hands down. Learning something, plenty of comedy, fast boats, fast cars, this channel has it all. Great work!!!
I love the show been watching for a long time I’ve been into cars a long time get a lot of good information from your show and it’s just fun to watch all the best to you and your family and everybody on the show
Heard the voice from behind the camera and thought "Flying Sparks Garage",.... yep! Anyone going looking back through multiple channels videos, will spot that they've got a history of helping other folk out, which is what 'community' is all about.
You could always put flex seal on top of the truck and on the tops of the windows if you have AC you don't even need to roll down the windows. Duct tape works good too!!!!!
You must have parked a Square Force One next to a Ford... Transfer switch failure... It's contagious. Ford failure mode is the internal valves stick , then it will pump fuel from the one you are using to the other. Was on top of the La Sal mountains with 2 full tanks when the idle picked up 300rpm and would not settle down, exhaust picked up a funky smell and was extremely rich. When the front tank over filled , the fuel was pushing out the vent line into the charcoal canister. The idle jumped when the purge valve opened and applied manifold vacuum to the full canister. Causing a extreme rich run the ECU tried to compensate with IAC un- successfully ( was dumping raw fuel out the tail pipe). The McGiver move was to run off the tank that was receiving the return fuel, plug the vent line , plug the purge vac line, and run the gas cap loose. Got it home , replaced the ”reservoir" (remote macanical transfer valve) fixed... ... ... Lift pump in the front tank was weak so it was replaced. Within 100 mi the valve shit the bed again. Thoughts are that the pump ( rotort vaine) was coming apart inside sending shrapnel into the valve X2 . Hanging a new valve this afternoon (before the Christmas snow storm hammers salt lake basin) and going to blow out all the lines(⁹ of them) to clear the residual shrapnel.
@@Brian-mp2mv Shoot... I grew up with my dad teaching about the manual timing levers on the columns... mag levers? Been so long I've forgotten the proper name! But yes, floor mounted starters and high beams..
You can usually fix up the door seals & weather strips by pulling one side off an feeding vacuum hose into the weather stripping to puff it back up I guess you can call it & seal correctly again that’s how we do our off road vehicles in the hope water stays out longer in case we stall out in water
You boys need to mount a 12 hp engine with a belt drive to move it around. Actually build a little power unit that puts power to the ground and simply mounts to the motor mounts. It would have 5 tires on the road but it would make it much easier to move. This would work not unlike a powered trailer caddy. Just mounted under the hood. It would make moving cars around much easier.
I would be in heaven if I could just sit in a top fuel car while the engine was running. I also have always wanted to build an old Postal Jeep. Couldn't believe it when I saw that.
There’s a 2 seat top fuel car running around that rents rides. Down side is it’s about $10-15K for a run. Though, if it’s a bad run they’ll give you another one.
@@NBSV1 Yea, you can see it in this video. That's what they were saying cost $10K. Can't do that on my budget, but same as him if I had millions I would definitely do it.
If you extended the control arms without changing the knuckle then you will have 2 issues: 1) the length needs to be added to the steering tie rod, not the rack, and 2) the steer rack may need to move depending on the angles of the new control arms. Otherwise your going to have wicked bump steer.
Yuuuuuup. For those who are just learning, Bump Steer occurs when the Tie Rod and the Control Arm(s) move through a different length radius. Ideally, they should also move in the same plane as the lower control arm.
Mike, once you get that thing running you might want to talk to Holley and get a secondary injection setup for it so it'll keep the valves clean. Direct injection engines love to foul the intake valves because there's no fuel washing them clean and they'll gunk up with oil and whatnot from the PCV and build a huge mound of crap on the back of the valves until it loses all power or drops a valve or both. A catch can on the PCV line would also help, so long as you remember to empty it from time to time.

The fastest vehicle/transportation I've ever been in was a almost empty airliner. It didn't accelerate anything close to a top fuel dragster but. its top speed was almost twice as fast. But it's obvious that there's nothing like the experience of a top fuel dragster, but I think some people forget how fast they've gone in a passenger airliner.
We only see what he shows us. Going back to Hot Rod it seemed like nothing ever got truly finished. Too many projects, too little time. And life gets in the way.
I remember the dual blade wipers from the early 1990's that were supposed to be the best wipers ever I even put a pair on my parents car at the time because I was not old enough to drive yet they worked alright for a while but they really sucked in the winter and ended up putting single blades back on the car just like they use today and why you don't see the double blade wiper anymore.
Great episode. You guys are so much fun. I get exhausted just watching a video that has anything to do with the Trade Shows. I have worked them in the years past and it's a shit ton of work, rarely eat right or sleep right. Cotten you look good man. Wrench On and Merry Christmas America.

Had a similar problem in my offroad buggy with the Holley HP EFI. Ended up being the wideband O2 sensor failing. The startup sequence is fine for a few seconds, because it has its own enrichment tables based on temperature, IAT, etc, then the computer starts asking the O2 sensor what to do, and it reports a full lean condition so it starts adding fuel everywhere and messes up all the fuel maps. Running super rich like that makes misfires which sends a lot of unburned fuel down the pipe along with a lot of unburned oxygen which further makes it think it's lean. You'll be able to check that by watching the O2 sensor just sit at lean and not change. If that's the issue, once you fix that and repair the fuel tables if it skewed them all way rich, you can change the amount of % fuel the self-learning can add, so if a sensor fails it can only go so far away from the learned tables. Or just get a solid fuel map and turn off the O2 entirely if you're not gonna be dealing with much elevation changes.
List Of Things That Need To Be Done:
Wipers, door seals, carburetor, front end work.

Throw a blower on it.
