Sick riff! I'm pretty torn between these two strings; I think NYXLs are supposed to last longer and tune better, so I really like that, but I do feel like the EXLs have more "bite" and "punch" that I really like (especially in the palm mutes), although, I don't know how long they retain that brightness. Thanks for the comparison video!
They kept the bright about a month (playing everyday), enough to record an entire album without any problem, i feel the same about the NYXL, the feel the bright and the tightness it's better and touch feeling it's better also (that's also important to get a better performance)
@@cotardstudios Thanks for sharing your thoughts; that's helpful! I've currently got NYXLs, but I think I'm gonna try me some EXLs again soon and see if I do like them better or not!
@@cotardstudios Oh, I understand! I'm sure I'll end up sticking with the NYXLs, but I'm still curious to try the EXLs again. Have you ever tried the Horizon Devices strings? Those are actually pretty good, but I've only had them once, and I'm not sure if they're better than the NYXLs or not.
@@deadskinmask91 the tensión its relative, for me this its ok, if you want Better tensión you can try with 012 but i feel the sound less defined and its heavy to play faster. This one for me its a perfect balance, some people buy a separated strings to make their own set, i tried and i didint recomend, higher price and the manufacturer of the strings do a balance of tensión in their strings to work perfect but It depends on which guitar you're gonna play, the action of the adjustment, the way you play and your amp settings...
These strings eat your frets. I squared off the tops of a set of stainless frets in about 3 years with these. Went back to xl's or slinkys and fret wear stopped
@@cotardstudios I mean it's just any strings that weren't nyxl's, not ernie ball specifically. And you may not notice, it may seem like normal fret wear, you may notice. Idk. But I know stainless frets can go 10-15 years without needing work and I barely got 3. Ymmv
I'm using a LTD Viper 400 with this kind of strings about 10 years til now (the guitar it's from 2008) and my personal luthier didn't tell me about change the frets in any of the last guitar revision but I'll ask him about this, thanks @@kotymccallister5150
@cotardstudios Maybe the frets I used when I refretted weren't really stainless. Or were a less hard alloy. Idk. But I noticed extreme wear on nickel frets (like less than a year and my action had to nearly double) and with the new stainless it was less, but still way sooner than they should have. Like I said, it's possible it was a variety of stainless that wasn't very hard. Your mileage may vary. BUT I do know they still do wear frets more because they wore either set of frets quicker than normal XL's. You still might could find frets that could handle the strings though

Did either offer better string tension and tuning stability in C standard tuning?
@@deadskinmask91 I prefer the nyxl, softer and best feeling white you're playing.

Thanks for the comment! Really? I didn't notice anything on my guitars, you solved your problem with the ernie ball strings?

NYXL gonna verify your technic😅 i love em! Solid massive sound that i love in metal music💪💪
nyxl sounds heavier.
I think the same, for me the playing feeling it's also better and feels more detailed.
