  • Just off the beaten (highway) track, Saloi is a scenic and (mostly) green village in Goa. It is fast getting urbanized, and locals are facing the pressures. A villager, Dinesh Dias, a qualified chartered accountant, introduces us to some of the challenges that the area faces. Recorded by Frederick Noronha (FN).

Thank you both for coverage on this alarming situation in Goa. Indeed a huge racket! It begins with the person who comes to your home during survey time and at other times too! When the survey person finds out that a house is vacant, goes about making investigations with several people who live around the home/property and finds out how long they have been away, how frequently they visit and other family demographics, then entices with a large sum of money to someone in the area saying they would have their names on the vacant property just for survey purposes and then the process has begun...

I fully agree with Dinesh. He talks truthfully, is tough and to the point. GOANS, ESPECIALLY CATHOLICS, CANNOT STAND SUCH CHARACTERISTICS. The neighbours and relatives are the first culprits for knowingly keeping quiet. The other person with him does not help because of his easy going questions and statements, Goody, goody.

Agriculture land is no longer available and only houses apartments everywhere. I wonder if no agriculture land will be left in future then who will cultivate who will produce food etc. Goondas are encroaching forest land river land government land gram sabha land

All this problem is because of substandard law and order and civil administration. This country is recruiting incompotent personnel at IAS and IPS levels who should ideally take responsibility for such misdeeds. Instead it's just pused to some elected representatives like a MLA or local leader who would be more than happy to take recognition in such cases 😂😂😂😂

  • @CP-te4pw

Donot blame any individual , one must have made the documents & many hands also must have changed . The actual culprits are the ones sitting in the registry office , govt office whr loads of money is stuffed in thr pockets & hence such things are happening. No one can dare do anything wrong without the help of any govt employee .. hence if found guilty they should be given death sentence within few days of proving to be the main culprits .
Many people with thr hard earned money come to Goa to buy a house , commercial , agriculture etc property & get fooled by such people . They get the house on thr name but later even after paying they have to run to courts …. So basically it’s the babus in the office who know what’s happening ….
Even at some time properties sold legally , heirs come forward after years & say they had no clue of sale which is even wrong ..

Just funny to see the people who realise this and have managed to escape it to good New Zealand, can't get over emotions and not sale Ancestral properties and get out for real good from the third world.

    No offences but,
People everywhere has become so scared and frightened about outsiders coming and settling next door. And they loosing their sense of exclusivity, their culture, they're so afraid of people coming from other states, society getting more cosmopolitan. They don't want anybody speaking an alien language as their neighbor. So they spread this paranoia. Obviously if I am going to buy land in Goa. I will do all possible research or rather buy an apartment. But this fear-mongering is happening everywhere across the globe 🌎 . As they find this intimidating and an invasion on their culture. Even if u go to Japan, China or wherever. But, they need to realize that they cannot stop this migration in the era of globalization.
We r no more living in 18th century.
    But peopl

Their religious affiliation (mostly inherited at birth) won't make them moral or immoral persons, I guess. One would expect them to have learnt some lessons in life (and at cathecism). This doesn't seem to have taken place. The wider community needs to perhaps name and shame such ndividuals -- whatever their proclaimed faiths and beliefs. Dinesh is taking a step in this direction, and I appreciate that.
