I think its cool and just bought one! However I'm looking for a better tripod/portable monitor stand. Is there anything you've found that seems similar to the roost laptop stand but for portable monitors?
Great content. I’m interested in this monitor for Switch OLED gaming and watching sports, movies, etc. How are the response times and input lag? In particular how does it perform at 60 Hz?
The features of color accurate, lightweight and portable with 120 refresh hertz, looks promising as a mobile display for my landscape photos which I keep them on my phone.
I also don't like to wear glasses. But due to constant headache because of eye strain I just have to wear it, 2 years ago I started to wear glasses first time Iv'e tried it feels like my view is in 4k haha It's very clear, and im 37 now.
I bought one some days ago and now considering returning it. The problem I see is the native or default resolution: ~1280x800. With that resolution the image is great but there is not much space. If I switch to any other resolution, the image is blurry. There is a vividPixel mode which helps but for a 500usd display is not worth. I'm wondering if a 1080p 144hz would do it better.
To use the higher resolution you must choose 2560 x 1600 or else you'll get that distortion that you're describing. There's a lot more space in that setting, let me know if that helped ya out! :)
@@MikeWat I tested with many resolutions but unlike the retina display, macOS does not offer the ability of scaling the image and it makes sense. If you have a 2560x1600 display, the two valid options for avoiding blurry image are 2560x1600 and 1280x800 (which is 2560/2x1600/2). With 1280x800 each pixel is represented by 4 pixels. Any other resolution won't be optimal. The problem is that one option is too small and the other is too big for 16 inches. If you choose a 1080p display it won't be as nitid as 1280x800 in a 2k display but you'll get something in the middle which is what I'm looking for. Basically I was expecting what you get with a 4k display that looks like 1080p.
Hi, I was interested by this monitor but your comment made me rethink about it, regarding the blurry scaling resolution. I like the idea to have 2k option when need, but I want to be able to use it with a lower resolution without being blurry. I am currently on a macbook m1 max 16'' and I sometimes switch the display to 1728*117 or 1920*1200 (using Display Menu app) with no problem. I thought it would behave the same with this monitor, but it seems not. Did you get something else instead, like thze FHD MB16AHG ? Thanks @@sstawecki
I am curious to know how it could behave on the MB16QHG with an app called "BetterDisplay". I just tried the app on a 27'' QHD monitor plugged to a macbook m1, scaled it to Full HD. It seems quite good and almost like retina behavior, way better than default macos downscaling. So I am reconsidering buying this 16 inch model. This is just crazy that apple doesn't do it and you need a third party app...
@@mathieudubost9730 it works pretty decent with betterdisplay using a resolution like 1050p or so, almost 1080. I used that resolution for a month, but ende up using the native resolution.
hmm i guess it doesn't come with any travel cover? no, i'm not talking about that soft bag you showed. I'm talking about some cover so i can push it next to a laptop into my backpack
anyone tried this on handheld pc? how good it is for gaming despite not having a freesync to it? does anyone has issues of screen tearing with this? im still thinking on getting this or not.
Do you know of any other monitors that have a 1/4" thread for a tripod mount!? Thats brilliant being able to tripod mount it like that on a small table like you said! great vid bro cheers to the Asus collab 👍
Killer review. That's a beauty monitor. If you used Samsung you'd have access to DeX and you could simply use your phone with the monitor in the coffee shop (along with a Bluetooth keyboard and mouse or trackpad). The double stack setup looks great for multitasking but too much for the cafe situation. Thanks.
Damn bro another nice video! This monitor is great and all...but Frozen Anna Cup gonna make it to the next Top 10 Desk Accessories You Never Knew You Needed video
Would you happen to know the minimum brightness of this monitor (in nits)? I have chronic migraines so I need a panel capable of getting really dim (below 30 nits).
I use software solutions for that like flux etc. Have you ever tried them? I'd also resort to a privacy film if I found a monitor I really liked but it was too bright.
How would this monitor compare to UGame J5 - UHD Monitor with Vesa Mount 17.3 Inch 60Hz 4K Monitor? Which has very similar specs and is about half the price.
Hey! Great video, I am definitely considering this monitor for my ROG flow x13. One quick question, you are using another mini tripod when you are filming outside with your friend (it looks like carbon fiber), what model is it? Thanks in advance!
Hey Mike, thanks for the review! I'll most probably pick this monitor (: It appears that the Tripod link in description is down, would you please update it or share your tripod exact product name with us?
great video...! I wanted to ask you.. do you have a 14" macbook? Would your tripod will be high enough to position the portable monitor on top of a 16" macbook pro? If not do you know a tripod that would?
For anyone who wants to use this monitor for playing PS5 or Switch, this monitor's aspect ratio is 16:10 which meanig the aspect ratio of PS5 or Switch (16:9) screen will be stretched to 16:10 and not leaving the black bar at the top or bottom. aspect ratio control is always greyed out nothing work to fix this, very diasppointed.
I'd like to use samsung Dex, which I believe is also deisgned for a 16:9 aspect ratio. For PS5 and Switch when screen gets stretch, does it look worse? Is there no way to oset PS5/Switch to a 16:10 ratio instead?
Looks cool! I've been using my iPad with Duet Display as an external monitor too. How does using the Asus monitor differ from using a tablet with miniLED/OLED screen? Thanks!

@@MikeWat And that is the reason I am returning mine back. How can you have such a great device without the feature to have USB-Passthrough Power capabilities in 2024? Looks cool. Maybe an upgrade in the future when it comes down in price. For now, this $75 15" portable monitor from Amazon works pretty well for now. Heck, could buy 6 of them for the price of the Asus one. 🤣
Does anybody use this monitor with MacBook Pro 2023 with pleasure? Seems that product is not very suitable for Macbook's.
