  • Directors: Kimi Villaroman, Jowi Deguzman, and Matthew Espina Harris
Kulintang Ensemble Director: Matthew Espina Harris
The first phase of the set begins with Maguindanao inspired dances Silong sa Ganding, mimicking the swaying of talking gongs in a kulintang ensemble, and Kappa Malong Malong, which shows the many uses of a malong, or tube skirt. These works were inspired by Little Manila Dance Collective and their Artistic Director, Brian Batugo, as well as Sir Faisal Monal of Salamindanao Dance Company.
The Meranao portion begins with Kapagapir, where women of the court dance with apir, or fans. The finale is Singkil, a royal court dance performed by Princess Gandingan and her entourage. Singkil draws influence from Darangen, a Meranao epic poem that is recognized by UNESCO’s Intangible World Heritage. This Meranao restaging was inspired by Parangal Dance Company and their Artistic Director, Eric Solano, as well as various Mindanao State University Campus dance troupes.
Music inspired by the teachings of Master Danny Kalanduyan through House of Gongs (Ron & Lydia Querian) and Sir Faisal Monal through Little Manila Kulintang Academy, supported by ACPA.
