so in the first movie they clearly show a dead deer (I think it's a deer) with odd injuries implying that the crawlers did venture outside the cave as well as a huge pile of bones with human skulls and bones at the end which implies that the crawlers did have contact with humans and ate them so yeah, they must have encountered and known the scent of humans

I live in middle Tennessee on top of a multi-state region that is filled with miles and miles of caves, I can attest that there are for sure tons of undiscovered cave networks here. It’s a story for another day but I saw what looked like eyes shining in the dark in Indian Grave Point cave years ago. I’ve never gone back in but in fairness plenty of people go in the main areas of that cave uneaten.

Where are they now?: Today we are looking at The Croods family, they once had once rising to fame by getting their own movie. But are they still the harmless cavemen we knew? The truth may shock you....
Well, a lot of isolated extinct species are found even in islands, so it is bound to happen. Native Filipinos that retained genetic lineage are still unlikely to hail from the ones from the fossil record unless DNA tracing is done, since the physiology is significantly different. Then again, natural tree climbing talent in natives is possible, so...
I found this movie years ago as part of my normal annual binge of horror movies during the Halloween season. When I saw the "crawlers", here's what went through my mind. Me: creepy bipedal creatures in caves.... blind.... and attack (possibly eat) anything that come near them.... IT"S THE GODDAMN FALMER!!!! So yeah, having a movie with a horror monster and theme that felt literally pulled from my favorite video game, puts this in a top 5 favorite horror movies for me.
This movie has the only jumpscare that ever actually made me shriek Edit: It's the one where the crawler shows up behind one of the girls on the camera
Mat should see the videos about the last uncontacted stone aged tribe. They also have tines Low population down to 10s. Also inbreeding with no negative affects
I feel like the cover of the movie would look cool if it showed the characters descending down into the cave and the crawlers crawling up the walls of the cave
Honestly the implication that the creatures in the Descent are better are cleaning up the highways better than the American Highway Patrol and the Park service is the most realistic part of the film
Considering how badly even the first movie follows the "source material", or more like what inspired it, the book Descent by Jeff Long even the first movie is pretty darn bad... I remember the movie being announced and being extremely interested to see it only to be extremely disappointed in them having made a rather shitty general horror movie that only had parts of the original idea and none of its story, the book Descent is an awesome book full of truly horrific ideas and scenes where as the movie Descent is pretty much a dumb paint by numbers horror movie that even if I hadn't read the book would have left me wanting for more depth and originality... I really hope that some movie or television studio (actually preferably TV as a series could devote more time to making and actually faithful adaptation of the book and it's more recent sequel Deeper) would have the wisdom to pick up the rights to the awesome story of the book and bring it to life on the screen (be it television or movie screen, but like I said I for one would prefer TV as they could devote more time to the intricacies of the story and its wonderfully twisted and weird ideas)... So yeah, in my book both movies are bad, the part 2 is just even worse...
"Ha ha! Made you looks at your feet!" Me literally laying on the couch balancing a bowl of cereal on my chest and considering just drinking it so I don't have to lift the spoon: "Oh wow, you sure got me Matthew Patrick"
The first movie suggested the idea of the crawlers going to the surface to hunt though it didn’t show it happening. It’s implied they killed the moose at the beginning before the girls entered the cave, but it was left at the surface. The crawlers have been getting random humans for at least 100 years, since the girls find a 100 climbing anchor, but not enough to be a reliable food source. My question is would the crawlers really evolve to be totally blind if they are leaving the caves all the time to hunt animals and going near the surface?

*The Film Theorists:* Reference the crawlers' likeness to a movie that came out over a decade later
*All of Skyrim, and the Falmer that lurk beneath:* "Am I a joke to you?"
To me, the crawlers kind of sound like the monsters from the Time Machine, where, over centuries, some people evolved into crawling cave creatures that are sensitive to day light.
Fellow Dragonborn, eh?
They definitely look like Falmer, and I should know xD
descent was released 2006... 2011 is when skyrim came out
skyrim mus tof copied descent.
Wasteland Inc. or they just happened to have similar ideas. The idea of cave goblins isn’t the most out of the box idea. No criticism to The Descent or Skyrim; just saying that it’s possible they just had similar ideas instead of “copying”
Crawlers from The descent: Can’t see, has good hearing, lives in deep caves.
Wardens from Minecraft: Can’t see, has good hearing, lives in deep caves
Falmer from Skyrim: Can't see, has good hearing, lives in deep caves.
That’s what I thought they kind of look like them too! Falmer that is.
The Descent is one of my favorite of all-time horror movies. Nothing beats being 11 years old watching it in your Grandma's in Arizona

The fact that you watched it when you were a KID makes me very concerned about your parents raising methods.
Agreed

The concept of the monster are more the monsters in “The Silence” movie and the inbreed, they could have had a bunch or different colonies in the male move on to another colonie once they reach a certain age like lions do, but love this theory.
Re-watch the video. He disproves his own theory with earlier information, multiple times.
@@joesjoeys Can we get a timestamp? And do you mean that he disprove if could exist in modern times but yet can't due to small population being unsustainable for breeding or the other way around?
There are also a species of ant Tapinoma melanocephalum, otherwise known as the ghost ant, are able to inbreed without the offspring facing consequences because of, so it is still possible that could be possible they could still exist.
So, the end of this species would have been something like:

I live in middle Tennessee on top of a multi-state region that is filled with miles and miles of caves, I can attest that there are for sure tons of undiscovered cave networks here. It’s a story for another day but I saw what looked like eyes shining in the dark in Indian Grave Point cave years ago. I’ve never gone back in but in fairness plenty of people go in the main areas of that cave uneaten.
The most disappointing part of this video is MatPat not explaining those spiders 😢😭
I looked it up and basically they live with ants in their mounds and that’s about all we know so far. It’s a big deal though because I guess ants are really picky about who they let into their mounds

Well, a lot of isolated extinct species are found even in islands, so it is bound to happen.
Native Filipinos that retained genetic lineage are still unlikely to hail from the ones from the fossil record unless DNA tracing is done, since the physiology is significantly different.

The sequel wasn’t as good. I thought a movie called “Feral” was also good. Also, nice! There aren’t many theories on here.
Quite out of context, I saw your pfp and thought it was mine for a second. I might need some glasses soon.
FerL GOOD
Considering how badly even the first movie follows the "source material", or more like what inspired it, the book Descent by Jeff Long even the first movie is pretty darn bad...
The reviews says feral is bad

The first movie suggested the idea of the crawlers going to the surface to hunt though it didn’t show it happening. It’s implied they killed the moose at the beginning before the girls entered the cave, but it was left at the surface. The crawlers have been getting random humans for at least 100 years, since the girls find a 100 climbing anchor, but not enough to be a reliable food source. My question is would the crawlers really evolve to be totally blind if they are leaving the caves all the time to hunt animals and going near the surface?
