I'm an English teacher and I love how to articulate each sound slowly and clearly. Students who do know a lot of grammar and vocabulary too get caught up in pronunciation or accent, and you're doing a brilliant job here. Hats off to your work!

I have a monthly prepaid phone. $10 a month, however it costs like 80 cents to send 1 text message. It's a cheap plan as long as you don't use the phone.
Welcome to Canada, and bring money.

Thanks, Mark! We are using Virgin mobile plan now in Canada.
I always pay attention to the details in your speech, so I can learn way more than I am expecting. For instance, I have learned the following expression from your current video:
    1. That's just insane = it's so crazy
    2. way cheaper than = very cheap
    Thanks a million, Mark!

I agreed with you Mark. Phone plan here is so extremely expensive. I've got my plan 56cad monthly with phone but no internet just unlimited call and text around Canada only. Way back, when I was in HK I paid unlimited internet monthly just cost 100hkd (16cad) only. In Philippines ,it's sad to say that they have no unlimited internet but my family used 30GB monthly just costs 1200php (25cad). However, when you buy a phone in Philippines you've got a free accessories included earphones, charger, phone casing, and screen protector. And good thing is you can counter the price. 😊

I know this is a bit late but I just landed a few days ago so I'm looking at this now. And yeah, phone plans here sucks. In the Philippines, people usually pay about C$50.00 for 31GB, unlimited calls w/in the same network provider, 200mins of call for other networks and unlimited text messaging for all networks.
The cheapest plan you can get is about C$17 and that comes with 3GB, unlimited calls for the same network, 100mins for other networks and unlimited text to all.
And we don't have "zones" to worry about.

1 GB of data costs approximately $18 CAD in Dubai. For $18 CAD of talk time, you can opt between local (500 minutes) or "flex minutes" (150) which means you can you can use those minutes for local calls AND call anywhere in the world without additional costs. AND the best part is, you can use your flex minutes for international roaming! So you can be anywhere in the world and receive calls without additional costs. I couldn't believe what my family pay for cell phone plans in Toronto... and Dubai's telecom industry is a duopoly lol

Hi teacher Mark. Good to see you here for your new video. Recently, I don't see any of your post on Instagram. I guess you are busy making a new video. I agree with you that internet and phone bills are really bad. I always pay my monthly bill about $110 but I don't I usually use it because we have a wifi connection here in my employer's house. I just only use this data plan every time I am going to church on Sunday and using google map to get my direction. Firstly, I wanna thank you for your great and informative videos.
Well, I live in Iran. There are many different plans for data and calling (the calling plans support all over the country, I mean we can use the plans everywhere in Iran.)
For example, at this moment I'm checking, (3 GB data + 160 min calling per month) costs about 30,000 Tomans (about 2 CAD dollars). Or (just 5 GB data per month) costs about 25,000 Tomans.
These examples I said are pre-paid. Also, we can buy data or calling plans separately.
However, the speed of data isn't always satisfying, and many times it disconnects. Also, most of the people earn money in Tomans here, so it isn't probably comparable with earning money in dollar.
Anyway, I wanted to share this info with you😊🌹

It's better to get t-mobile. I live in Mexico but my dad travels a lot to the States (he got his citizenship and he doesn't even live there lol) and for 25usd you have 7gb unlimited calls to Canada Mexico and the States. But the loophole is that every 3 months you have to travel or give your chip to someone who will travel to the states, so they think you live there so the company don't cut off your plan. I think part of Niagara is in the states so you only need to be one weekend every 3 months.

Compare to Canada, Mobile Plan is quite cheap here in Taiwan.
For example for my monthly plan, I pay $20 for Unlimited Data, free call as long as its from same service company (which is highly possible consider its a major service provider), and 90 minutes to any other phone types...
Plus all the Data are in LTE...where as Canada still use 3G....
If you seriously want to save up a few more dollars...well you can go for things like 12G Data plan (the rest is the same) for around $12....
(Folks here don't use mobile phone to talk that much...since everyone can use internet phone function like SKYPE or LINE for free.....)

In India, as you've guessed, mobile bills are way cheaper. The other day I spent INR 399 (CAD 7.12 in today's exchange rate) for a plan that includes 1.5 gb of data and 100 text messages per day with unlimited pan India calling for as many as 84 days. Can you believe it? And if you exhaust your daily quota of 1.5 gb, the data connection doesn't stop altogether; it gets throttled down from 4G to 2G speed.

Of course, Canada is so big and lack of competition works against fair phone plans.
I can tell you about my plan, is a 5+10 GB (plan+bonus data), with unlimited calls within the phone company (that means I can call another wireless or land line number of Claro), about 2,000 SMS, for just 55 CAD. If I want to use roaming or call another number outside my phone company, then is limited. The cool thing is I can use my plan to roam in 20 countries, including Canada, so is cheaper for me to bring my own phone plan than signing up for a Canadian plan if I go there.

In China it costs about 15 CAD per month for 7 GB and unlimited calling and texting. But the average wage in China is around 1000 CAD,it's much less than Canada.SO i think it depends on the level of development of the country. But the cell phone plans in Canada is really freaking!

CANADIAN COMPANIES NEED TO REALLY FIX UP!!!!
I get unlimited EVERYTHING, including calls, text & data in Europe from EE for £57 $100 CAD roughly (My price includes a discount as I used to work for them). But without a discount its £62 which is $108 CAD

It should be noted that Lucky Mobile does offer good plans. I pay $50 get unlimited talk and text plus unlimited calling to the US. 8GB of 3G speed data but once limit is reached data is slowed to 128kbps for rest of month. It's Canada wide plans without zones. At the time you made this video zones still existed

In my country(Bangladesh) for 1 GB of internet only 18 BDT or 0.28 CAD. Everything is cheap in my country.
And monthly cost in my cell phone is around 500 BDT or 7.79 CAD including 500 free talk time minutes. For wifi 100 BDT or 1.56 CAD monthly. Service is good enough. No buffering to see your videos.
Canadian government should take some necessary steps to reduce costing plan for cell phone.

Not all carriers are like that Lucky Mobile is pretty much the only prepaid national carrier to off throttled unlimited data. Simply chose how much data you want before is gets slowed down. Slower data still works for music streaming. I pay $50 for unlimited talk Unlimited text and 8GB data before slowed down. I can also call the US as much as I want. No zones for me. We still have a long way to go but it's a start
