wow I really enjoyed the montage of North Korea. Pyongyang airport seemed quite busy, probably everyone was going back to Beijing or Russia?their trams remind me of Melbourne's but different colours haha!
Thanks Jayden - at the time (which was peak season) the airport handled 4-5 flights in the morning (all to either China or Russia)...then they switch off the lights and go home for the day...can't imagine what its like at the moment, probably gathering dust..
I have been to north korea, the food is extravagant, lavish…but taste not as good as in South Korea. The people looks very nice polite, but everything is being controlled. Not really relaxing experience, North Korea it’s a nice and clean country ; much better than many parts of USA, it’s safe and you don’t worry getting mugged. Would I visit again? Maybe…but not a priority destination.
I’d agree with most of your comments. The version of DPRK that is presented to tourists is the version they want to be seen - so yes, it’s nice and they are polite, but it’s probably not the complete version. The food served very much depends on what your tour operator has paid for. My operator definitely elected for the budget end of menu options - which wasn’t good. Overall not relaxing, at times stressful. Would I go back - not a top priority even if it was possible.
And I bet that in the DPRK, _no one_ dares show up drunk for a flight, nor dare get drunk on a flight. That alone guarantees that 99% of the problems that we experience on US-based airlines, are not even a possibility on Air Koryo. Massive W for North Korea, ngl.
Doesn’t look even half bad, especially if you don’t have to live there permanently. But for a short visit under constant surveillance and no deviation from planned itineraries, it’s not the worst trip that one can envision.
Just my curiosity... Why they never try to improve their service by offering "new" meals other than burger? Coz everything i heard about JS, everything is just about old aircraft and their burger
Personally I don’t think the burger is their biggest problem. Their fleet is ancient with no prospect of replacement. Other aspects of the soft product including service is fine.
@@airlineshow yep, it's not a big deal. But, can you imagine they serve burgers over and over? Why don't they try another meals and put on rotation on a monthly basis (for example). Let's say you fly on any legacy carriers and they serve you burgers again and again, did you get bored? And they'll get complains for sure. But yeah, we don't have any choice to fly to NK though, gotta try them someday

The North Korean regime has enslaved, impoverished and imprisoned hundreds of thousands, if not millions of its own citizens. Every nickel of whatever you spent for this adventure went into the pockets of this regime, all in support of your hobby. I will not be subscribing nor liking anything connected with this channel.
I was expecting this comment. I obviously didn’t go to the DPRK on a whim or to further a hobby. I have traveled extensively throughout Asia including South Korea, not as a hobby but out of my personal interest in the cultures of the region. I also speak an Asian language. Everyone will go for their own reasons- which I came to understand on the tour. Your point about funding the regime is something i also weighed up. This point is well addressed by the tour company, Koryo Tours, who I used for the trip: “The amount of money the DPRK government receives through tourism is very minimal and certainly not enough to fund a nuclear programme or the like. Travel broadens the mind and nowhere is that truer than in North Korea. We believe that there is a benefit to be gained by both those who visit and those who are visited from increased human-level contact between both sides. Just as most North Koreans have hardly any experience of interacting face to face with foreigners, almost nobody outside of the DPRK has ever met a North Korean. We would like to see that ratio change over time and believe that non-governmental tourism is the best way to go about this. There are very few restrictions on who can visit and the United Nations, European Union and other agencies see tourism as a positive way of engagement.” Hopefully you will open your mind and realize not everything is strictly black and white. There’s lots of grey. Happy travels
