    Backup, backup, backup. The only times I lost data were the times I trusted a single storage device. DVDRs that can't be read a year later, HDDs with a click of death. Oh and zip files that can't be opened! Multiple backups are the way to go! I keep meaning to keep a HDD with family too.

    Very nice demo! I have this CoPilot drive too and everything you said seems accurate. However, I was hoping you would talk about how to get files from the CoPilot to your desktop computer. The only way I've found to do this is to get another external drive (let's call it Drive B), copy the files to that, and then copy them from DriveB to your computer. Very roundabout, so I'm hoping you know of a way to connect straight to a desktop computer.

      Thanks, connecting it to your computer is easy, use the USB C to USB A cable and connect the usb C into the CoPilot drive end and the USB A directly into your computer (only directly connection will work, USB hub will not work) and then the drive shows up as an external drive. As this is a big drive it needs power, so your computer needs to have decent USB 3 ports in order to power this drive for it to work.

    I’m the worst for not backing anything up. That’s a great Gadget to carry around when out and about.

    Do you know if it copies .360 files from Gopro MAX without converting them to mp4?

    Well i bought one to work with my ipad pro, The first time i used it i had to connect to an android phone to update firmware. Then i connected to ipad pro and copied some files across from co pilot. Today however it just says connecting to dji copilot, then browse files and want me to confirm it is connected. It is connected but when i go to browse files it tells me to connect dji copilot. Seems like a bought a dud.

    Just saw your video I was thinking of buying the WD My Passport what caused the failure do you know. You was incredibly unlucky to have a total failure on all your devices.

    • @GadgetJohn
      @GadgetJohn  6 лет назад

      Yes, just make sure your phone supports the playback of the video file you are copying to your phone.

      cool... for uk van it might be worth looking at three homefi with 100gb package, this would allow you to upload your data on the go to the clound.. atleast then if a drive goes down you have gotabackup ;)

    • @GadgetJohn

    Why go from a safer storage device like a sd card to a unreliable hdd. Lacie hdd drives are susceptible to failure

    • @GadgetJohn
      @GadgetJohn  6 лет назад

      An SD card is far more fragile than a hard drive, and this hard drive is one of the toughest around. No one would ever trust their data to one card/drive, which is why the single message from this video is to backup, not move data from a card to HDD. I think maybe you skipped a lot of the video.
