Pretty sure your Crestie is an undercover agent for the Tokay delegation 🤣 You've got beautiful setups! I'm so glad there's someone other than SerpaDesign doing gorgeous setups on RUclips! Your channel will get HUGGEEEE P.S. Sorry Dav Kaufman but Kayla now officially has the best hair in the reptile game 🤣
Instead of coating the exterior of the foam with silicone, I've seen a few of prominent reliable people here on yt, can't remember who exactly, use this stuff called Dry-lock. You just paint it on with a brush. It's perfectly safe and waterproof and doesn't have to cure. I'm not sure, but what I've been wondering is if you could use this and skip shaving off the surface of the foam. That would be so much easier. The bubbly look of the foam wouldnt be noticeable once coated with moss or whatever. I've gotta look into this. I'm gonna get a crestie and build a vivarium one day, if I can ever afford it. Your video was very helpful, not to mention good content. Thx, from north Alabama
I was blessed with a sweet crested gecko. Although he is super skittish and doesn’t really like being handled he sometimes waits for me to come replace his food and must his tank. Love this build by the way, it looks so good! I plan on doing something like this once my crestie is old enough to get a larger tank. Thanks for the inspiration!
Dam I never knew you could make something so realistic like this. You are very talented and your channel is underrated I look forward to more amazing videos like this one. I'm jealous, I wish I could make something like this for my leopard gecko but I know even if I had all the necessary materials I could never make a terrarium as good as yours.
Thank you so much for your kindness! I’m flattered! 😊🙏🏼 I will definitely make more videos like this one in the future! I have a few leopard geckos myself, and I’d love to make a video about their enclosures. I definitely think you could create a beautiful vivarium! Watching lots of RUclips videos helped me, and I’m still learning through trial-and-error! 😊🦎
Absolutely my favorite bioactive how-to video!! I’ve saved it and watched it several times. I look back on it for reference more times than I can count. Absolutely wonderful video! And love groot!!🤣
Great videos! I can see that you really care about your animals a lot 😃 One thing about the silicone you used, I always make sure that it says something like "for aquariums" or "animal safe" on the tube. I've used "mold free" or "no mold" silicone before and apparently there's stuff in there to prevent mold (no duh) and that is quite toxic for animals, I've lost all fish that were in the aquarium I used the silicone in. I hope the gecko is still fine! Looking forward to your next project, greetings from Bavaria! 😀
I bet thats his calmest too. When that gecko is eating, its a movie scene. Unless eating is the only time when the Gecko is calm😂 Great work, Amazing video, Keep up the hard work👏👏👏
Surprisingly, he’s calmer when he’s eating. But when he sees a human.. hell breaks loose! 😂😈 Thank you for your support and kind words, I appreciate it a lot! 😊🙏🏼
Loved this. I have a tokay and gargoyle I'm looking to do new enclosures for, and this is encouraging me to do my own instead of buying the substrate kits. So much money to save, and I'd rather spend that time workibng with my kids as well.
Thats a beautiful vivarium setup. The Arcadia Jungle Dawn LED Light Bars are great and really bright. I'm in the process of setting up a new vivarium for my Sudan Plated Lizards at the moment. I have a few plants for it but it's going to be pretty dry and I was wondering if the volcanic product would be useful particularly around the plants. So far I've got a Haworthia, a Ponytail Palm and some ornamental Grass. It's quite a large vivarium measuring 72x36x24 inches.
I love these build videos makes me want to get a huge enclosure set up for my cresteds and completely deck it out for them. I have plenty of stuff for it, I just need to figure out which tank would be sacrificed as their new enclosure. I have a 75, 55, 40, 90 and if my fish doesn’t get better soon I’ll have a second 40. My 20 is going to be taken soon and my 29 has a arboreal conversion kit on it for my gargoyle…. I have a problem

I'm actually really impressed with this video and the viverum I'm planning on trying to make a bioactive set up for my crested gecko it's a year old now to be honest I just didn't now were to start but this video definitely inspired me to look more in to bioactive set ups
What watt was your bulb and also what heat do you use? Is it a dual mercury bulb? Also what watt for led strip. I’m doing a Ikea cabinet up and struggling with what heat and lights to use as making it bio active
Thank you so much! 😊 He definitely has some strong jaws for his size, good thing his teeth aren’t sharp! 😅 And you’re right, peat moss is not a renewable resource. I used it on the background simply for aesthetics and to cover the spray foam. I used it in the substrate because it’s great for moisture retention without making the soil waterlogged. Helps keep an adequate moisture-oxygen ratio. 😊🌱
Holy Moses! That tank looks FANTASTIC. I've been watching hours of crestie vivaria videos and that is one of the best, hands down. About your lighting, does a LED strip like that do the trick? Is it enough to make the plants really grow? It looks very affordable. There isn't much to it at all.
There still need to be heat lamps right? My room is in the basement and it gets really cold all the time. Can I also put heating pads on the outside of the walls?
I don’t need supplemental heating in my Crested Gecko vivariums because the ambient temperature in my room is perfect for them. The most suitable ambient daytime temperature for Crested Geckos is in the mid 70s. Though they can handle high 60s at night. Anything over 85 degrees can become dangerous to them. My advice to you is to monitor the temperature in the enclosure using a digital thermometer. If you require additional heating, avoid heat pads and lean towards overhead heating.
Do you have quantities that you can share for all the items? I am trying to determine how much buy (eg how much foam, how much substrate etc). Thank you!
So the dirt in the back of the enclosure is enough to sustain the plants that you place in there? I plan on doing the same but i thought it would be a pretty thin layer.
Yes, it’s no different than keeping houseplants in a little planter! As long as you choose plants that thrive in shallow soil. Ficus pumila doesn’t root deeply and will grow on various surfaces and creep across the vivarium over time.
@@kaylaroach sweet. Yeah I'm racking my brain over the set up right now. Going over the layout, what kind of plants and branches I'm gonna have. I'm curious to know how the back of the enclosure looks. Mine will be against the wall so it won't be seen, but if I want to do the same to the sides I kinda want to know what to expect. In case I have to cover it.
Oh one more thing. An idea I just had, no sure if it's a good one or would work. You know how people put those plastic planters in the foam when they're making their background? What if I used a cork round and used that as a planter for some plants. Cover up one end and stuff substrate in there.
Great job, Kayla. It looks amazing. Next life, I'm coming back as one of your pets so I can live in a full country estate like this one. I promise that I won't bite you, lol, I'll be a little more appreciative.
