- After making custom LED tail lights, there were a lot of comments about the reverse lights being red. We listened to you guys and designed a new solution. Thankfully, we recently got the CR-Lizard 3D Scanner and it was the perfect project to test out the scanner and 3D print something really functional.

using the painters tape as markers is a great hack I do it all thje time.. you can even use small torn pieces as it'll make a feature with the shape and easier to clean up ..

Great work, i like it. I am considering the CR for under hood scans to make an air box for an LS swap.
That sounds awesome! I would consider the CR-01 over the lizard for large area scans

Great video on real world usage of 3D scanner and CAD. That model had a ton of triangles, did it slow your laptop down? Back up bezels look fantastic. Those LEDs are powerful. Mahalo for sharing! : )
Luckily our laptop has a decent graphics card so it didn’t do too bad when modeling. I couldn’t change the mesh to a solid without the laptop crashing though. Looks like we need to build a PC 🤭

Did the same thing on my car a year ago cuz i lived in a forest with no lights.... sept i just mounted an led fog light under the bumper and ran it to a relay and spliced it in to the reverse circuit, of course it wont pass inspection with that light on it 🙃, so inwas forced to take it off... the plan is to do something like this but ona civic heh.

You can use watersoluble paint for marking points. Washes away after and makes scanning much easier

@@flirtingdisaster I actually did try tiny crosses at first but the cr lizard couldn’t keep tracking on that either…. The random patterns seems to be the winner

Would using a LIDAR sensor on the iPhone be a good substitute for the 3D scanner?
Not a bad substitute. Using polycam you can get a decent enough scan but it won’t be as accurate
How did you make it switch on when selecting reverse
I wired it to the factory reverse light wire

Temperature is at the upper limit of the hot end and it took a few tries, but it works!

Hey my car have lights in red which is illegal. So I created lights just like in the front of a car, making illegal white lights.
This is still not up to law in any country.

Could you do an in depth video of the process taking scan data and from that making the housing on fusion, i usually use creo, and it wont let me import an open mesh 🥲
