Don Cheadle's sass as Rhodey/War Machine 5. All the jokes about Justin Hammer's engineering prowess...or lack, thereof 6. Howard Stark's posthumous message to Tony.
I LOVE Natasha. She’s not getting enough credit for her fighing scenes. This and the one in Civil War are awesome. I wish she had a better movie or series earlier.
It's a mixed bag really, but Tony and Pepper's arc made this film. I really wish they didn't fire Terrence Howard just to save some money, he would have made a better Rhodes.
Nick, I had to chuckle when your girlfriend reacted to the reveal of Hammer being the one to break Vanko out of prison. The sudden shift in posture, the left arm moving to rest on the back of the cushion, the expression on her face, and the "Of course" statement was priceless.
To this day I still maintain Tony let Roadie take the War Machine suit because he knew he was not in a place to be effective. He had to put up a token fight because his ego wouldn't let him surrender it
@@Blaiyan Rhodes was an Air Force pilot. When Tony approached him in IM1, Tony wanted him to fly the suit (be Iron Man). In IM1 Rhodes looks at the silver suit and says "next time" as Tony is flying away (why would Tony have a second unfinished suit sitting around?) Tony build a second suit for himself after Rhodes blew him off and added Jarvis because Tony needed help to fly the suit. (This is why War Machine does not have an AI, it was designed for a pilot to fly, which is why Rhodes is able to easily operate the suit) When Jarvis is downloaded from the Iron Man suit, Tony still needs help flying and installs Friday.
Tony originally planned for Rhodes to pilot the Iron Man armor. In IM1 he tells Rhodes that he is working on something and wants him to be a part of it (Rhodes is an Air Force pilot). The first suit that Tony built in his lab was the silver War Machine armor, but when he was blown off by Rhodes, Tony made a second suit for himself (different size, shape and weight than Rhodes) and installed AI Javis to handle the flying. The first suit, silver War Machine, was seen as Tony was flying away on his first mission as Iron Man. Rhodey was able to pliot the War Machine armor easily because it was made for a pilot, that is why it does not have an AI in it. Tony had a token fight with Rhodey because 1) to see if Rhodey could adapt to the armor and use it and 2) Tony thought he was dying and was suggested by Natasha that he do whatever he wanted, which was a party, and Rhodey interrupted Tony's dying last birthday party. Hammer is able to access and upgrade (and control) War Machine's software in IM2 so Tony likely ripped out the old software and installed new software that only responded to Rhodey (which is why the US government did not replace Rhodey after his injury... the suit would now only work for Rhodey).
Tony was trying to prepare for his death and part of that was concern for his legacy. He made Pepper CEO of his company because of it, and the film very strongly implies that he intended to let Rhodey take over the role of Iron Man, which is part of why Rhodey has security clearance to even use the suit he took.
I've always enjoyed this movie quite a bit. I love Mickie Rourke's character. I'll never forget sitting in the post-delivery room with my wife and newborn son last year, watching this and Shang-Chi during a Marvel marathon on TV while we took turns holding him.
I've read some point out that Rhodey might actually have misused the Ex-Wife because as a "kinetic-kill" weapon, it needs more space to accelerate and build up kinetic energy and arm itself

Tony is great, but Vanko is weak as a villain. Most of his screentime is him getting defeated or being in a jail doing someone else's bidding. There have never been released any information on why Terrence Howard was replaced, however he was the highest paid actor in Iron Man 1 and it has been reported that they offered him a 50 to 80 percent pay cut for doing Iron Man 2 and perhaps that had something to do with it.
Everybody craps on this movie yet I bet die hard fans have watched more highlights from this film than the first. This one builds out the MCU in earnest and has the best Stark suit up into Iron Man still from the kicked briefcase to his foot to it attaching and RDJ selling it like he just did in Hall H again as Dr. Doom-Stark-Watcher-whoever. Whiplash is great, Hammer is sleazy awesome and Natasha is freaking amazing. Iron Man 2 is a classic.
Love Sam Rockwell in The Way Way Back and Jojo Rabbit (which you've seen) - What's funny is that his character in this movie kind of mirrors a character he plays in Charlie's Angels from 2000. Really fun reaction
@@nickreacts6394 I can't remember how much he is in the movie, but I feel some of the personality for the Iron Man 2 character possibly came from that movie.. pieces of it. Not a 1 to 1 thing, didn't want to get your hopes up. He plays a sarcastic goofy character in The Way Way Back alongside Maya Rudolph. You're right, Sam is a great actor.
Rhodes stole someone's life work and technology and brought it to the U.S government..and he was greeted with flowers, cheers and regarded as a hero.. That's reality right there...😂
Such a fun reaction as always, Nick and Quyhn -- Nick, I think you're spot-on with your psychological analysis of Tony, and Quyn, you had so many great insights as well. I love this movie and think it's a terrific follow-up to Iron Man (I also love IM3, which again had its share of critics). Looking forward to Q's reaction to Thor (I think she'll love it for the combination of humor and adventure).
The senator in the movie is played by Garry Shandling, who is a comedian and an actor. He had a hit TV series 1992 - 1998 The Larry Sanders Show which was about the behind the scenes happenings of a late night talk show. ruclips.net/video/VRGZwlzB3EI/видео.html
I never paid attention to the criticism back in the day. It was a fun film, and it hyped me up for the expanding MCU. Natasha, the shield, and the hammer? Heck yeah! The only thing I didn't like was Rhodey taking the suit, but that involves a bit of spoilery talk.
12:25 Those are Formula 1 (F1) cars. In a typical race, they have the speed of around 180 to 200 mph. The main selling point is that they turn at corners way faster than many other cars, even though they may not have the highest top speed.
I love you both equally individually and as a unit. However, please do NOT watch movies separately! You both are purely magical when you watch together! That's all I am going to say. 😊
10:14 "Put it in my Amazon cart, thank you." Damn. If I could put Natalie Rushman in _my_ Amazon cart -- Who am I kidding? There's no _way_ I have enough money for that! ☹
No, that's just a nonsense fan theory. And before you say, "But so-and-so said it," what actually happened is they got so bullied by fans who wanted it to be true that they finally said "Fine, it's true" just to shut them up and get some peace.
@@bigdream_dreambigif you listen closely you can hear a woman scream Peter several times before he shows up though. People don't give the writers enough credit when it's due..and you got no reason to become so pissy about it, it's great continuity and doesn't at all contradict anything.
The main problem with the Ironman movies is that most of their strength is based on the villain. Without an equally good villain to match the hero, something feels like it's missing. Sadly all three Ironman movies have kind of weakly written villains.
*SPOILER ALERT FOR THE REST OF THE FILMS* It's really interesting seeing the talk of not knowing Black Widow and her personality in this video - It's true, we really only get to see her personality from Captain America: The Winter Soldier onward, there and in the future sometimes, she's playful and has humor, calling Steve a "fossil", making a movie reference, making fun of his dislike of swearing etc. It's logical that a person who has been taught to always be on their guard, takes awhile to let their guard down. She must've had a few missions with Steve before Cap 2 began as well.
It's amazing how Quynh can predict so many of the lines and plot points. Also, Quynh kept telling Justin Hammer "Stop talking!" and then at 37:36 Ivan says "You talk too much" in Russian
Someone else can correct me if I'm wrong but isn't giving the War Machine to Justin Hammer essentially giving Stark Industries Propriety technology to a Rival company and therefore illegal and a form of corporate espionage?
It wasn't given to Hammer. The Air Force stole it, then hired Hammer to add to it. In later films War Machine appears to still work for the US government (see Iron Man 3). I assume at some point the Air Force legitimized taking the suit.
Terrance Howard had a contract for 3 iron man movies. his contract said he was to get 8 million for iron man 2 but they then decided to only give him 1 million since they had to pay downey so much more for the second one after the first one was a success. howard was unwilling to do it for 1/8th of his contracted salary so he left and they replaced him with someone who would take that. its a shame, I liked him in the first one.
4:29-4:31 "Straight up stand up comedian." Referring to Tony. Fun fact is, the senator questioning him is played by Gary Shandling, previously, a stand up comedian. 6:46 I paused, although you're going to be talking about ratings on YT, it does appear to list something like 1.9 million views. I'm not sure how long that video had been up, and I don't remember ever rating a video on YT, just like/dislike. But 12 tears ago, I didn't even bother with that. 10:09-10:12 Nick, you guys laughed about it, but imagine what would happen if you were to say to Quyenh (I hope I remembered the spelling correctly) "I want one" 21:36-21:37 Were you about to use profane language? (This is, I believe only the 3rd video on this channel I've seen, but such a wholesome, sweet, patient and caring lady...) Profanity? Really? 25:22-25:27 "Kill them all... and this will be private" Wow, so dark. And lean together laughing. [I did not expect that comment. Remapping subject Quyenh personality matrix.] 33:34-33:43 I wouldn't like it, because it tastes like coconut, not a flavor I'm fond of, but it's usually more the texture of coconut I dislike. But anyway, it's not so much that it's an instant cure. The toxicity was the leaking of Palladium into Tony's bloodstream. This new element is a suitable replacement element for his power core, involving no Palladium. Therefore eliminating the toxicity can be done over time by the body. The palladium was entering his bloodstream faster than it could be removed by his body, which means it would eventually build up to a lethal dose. (Nick did recall Gary was a comedian a short time later, but the fact he was referred to as one was still humorous to me)
I am not a huge MCU fan, but I have loved this movie since I first saw it in theaters back in 2010. I completely agree that it is "criminally underrated." I really enjoyed Iron Man (2008) but there was one serious problem with that movie...the action scenes were dull. It was a funny, clever, witty movie with great, charismatic actors but it was never exciting. Iron Man 2 is just as funny and witty with even more charismatic actors, but this time they put SERIOUS EFFORT into the action scenes. Therefore, Iron Man 2 is the superior film.
In case you are looking for a new series after twilight perhaps, I recommend Final Destination, Paranormal Activity, Scream, Saw. You watched the first of the last two but Quynh haven’t 👀
Well, those are Formula 1 cars, and they can go around 240 MPH on a long enough straight away, HOWEVER, since they are almost never on a track where they can sustain top achievable speeds, and they NEVER race at places like Indianapolis or Daytona, their typical top speed rarely exceeds about 200 MPH, and in races like Monaco or Paris, that probably drops to around 170 MPH because of all the turns.
42:12
FUN FACT: That little kid is actually a young Peter Parker, it's really cute seeing him idolize Iron Man before he formally appears in the MCU

As always loved your and Quyhn's reactions/expressions and thoughts about the movie and characters :D
@Nick Reacts ... the actor you guys were trying to place in the movie is comedian Gary Shandling
Yes exactly thank you!
You two are awesome! Great job!
Hammer showing off the weapons - Zorg showing off the super weapons - same actor....My favourite :D
There have never been released any information on why Terrence Howard was replaced, however he was the highest paid actor in Iron Man 1 and it has been reported that they offered him a 50 to 80 percent pay cut for doing Iron Man 2 and perhaps that had something to do with it.
Love watching both of you ❤️
Thank you!
Terrance Howard was making another movie at the time. And they couldn't work out the scheduling.
The first movie has the iconic "building the Ironman Suit" research sequences that just can't be topped.
Been waiting on this 🎉😊
Love Sam Rockwell in The Way Way Back and Jojo Rabbit (which you've seen) - What's funny is that his character in this movie kind of mirrors a character he plays in Charlie's Angels from 2000. Really fun reaction
I might just have to schedule an upcoming Charlie's Angels reaction..
I love Quýhn's shirt
Rhodes stole someone's life work and technology and brought it to the U.S government..and he was greeted with flowers, cheers and regarded as a hero.. That's reality right there...😂
Such a fun reaction as always, Nick and Quyhn -- Nick, I think you're spot-on with your psychological analysis of Tony, and Quyn, you had so many great insights as well. I love this movie and think it's a terrific follow-up to Iron Man (I also love IM3, which again had its share of critics). Looking forward to Q's reaction to Thor (I think she'll love it for the combination of humor and adventure).
He wasn`t fired from being Rhode, he had his T.V. program "Empire" which made schedule problems. So I think he dropped out.
Sam Rockwell is a great actor with an incredible range if believable characters.
Love the reactions! I believe this MCU journey is going to be fun! ✌️😎💕
I love Natasha. Another one of my faves
Why do I feel like who Robert Downey Jr is, and who Tony Stark is are the same person?
A stroke of genius with casting
Robert Downey Jr. IS Tony Stark. The role and he are one. 😉
25:22 the intrusive thoughts won😂😂😂
12:25 Those are Formula 1 (F1) cars. In a typical race, they have the speed of around 180 to 200 mph. The main selling point is that they turn at corners way faster than many other cars, even though they may not have the highest top speed.
When Quỳnh says she wants to see more of Black Widow you can see Nick think: me too.
Shame that War Machine was never as cool again as he was in this one.
I love you both equally individually and as a unit. However, please do NOT watch movies separately! You both are purely magical when you watch together! That's all I am going to say. 😊
I didn’t know this movie was so criticized. I like the movie a lot 😊
10:14 "Put it in my Amazon cart, thank you." Damn. If I could put Natalie Rushman in _my_ Amazon cart -- Who am I kidding? There's no _way_ I have enough money for that! ☹
21:37 😂😂😂 🤣 she had enough!
29:28 suuure for the 'country'
47:46 my brothers and I had the same reaction 😂😅
The kid in the iron Man mask is Peter Parker AKA Spider-Man.
No, that's just a nonsense fan theory. And before you say, "But so-and-so said it," what actually happened is they got so bullied by fans who wanted it to be true that they finally said "Fine, it's true" just to shut them up and get some peace.
@@nvp8191 it was actually Jon Favreau's son Max wearing the Iron Man mask and toy repulsor.
@@bigdream_dreambigif you listen closely you can hear a woman scream Peter several times before he shows up though. People don't give the writers enough credit when it's due..and you got no reason to become so pissy about it, it's great continuity and doesn't at all contradict anything.
@@nellie4621 I hear nothing. You're either making stuff up or you're experiencing auditory confirmation bias.
"If you can make God bleed, the people will cease to believe in him."
Remember this.
Only Sam Rockwell can play a character that you absolutely hate, and kinda like at the same time.
I couldn't agree more, well-said!
My dudes, the pilot in the Hammer suit's spine broke when the machine twisted 180 degrees with him inside it.
You'll hear about that pilot in a later film
The main problem with the Ironman movies is that most of their strength is based on the villain. Without an equally good villain to match the hero, something feels like it's missing.
Sadly all three Ironman movies have kind of weakly written villains.
funfact the child at 3:42 and 42:08 is a young Peter Parker. As you may know he has a prominent role later on in the MCU.
The fun fact :the kid in 3:42 is spider-man
*SPOILER ALERT FOR THE REST OF THE FILMS*
It's really interesting seeing the talk of not knowing Black Widow and her personality in this video - It's true, we really only get to see her personality from Captain America: The Winter Soldier onward, there and in the future sometimes, she's playful and has humor, calling Steve a "fossil", making a movie reference, making fun of his dislike of swearing etc. It's logical that a person who has been taught to always be on their guard, takes awhile to let their guard down. She must've had a few missions with Steve before Cap 2 began as well.
The two of you are adorable.
10:09-10:12 Nick, you guys laughed about it, but imagine what would happen if you were to say to Quyenh (I hope I remembered the spelling correctly) "I want one"
21:36-21:37 Were you about to use profane language? (This is, I believe only the 3rd video on this channel I've seen, but such a wholesome, sweet, patient and caring lady...) Profanity? Really?
25:22-25:27 "Kill them all... and this will be private"
Wow, so dark. And lean together laughing. [I did not expect that comment. Remapping subject Quyenh personality matrix.]
33:34-33:43 I wouldn't like it, because it tastes like coconut, not a flavor I'm fond of, but it's usually more the texture of coconut I dislike.
Irooon Man 2, Irroon man 2, not as good as part one but still pretty gooood!
Cant wait for sam rockwell tonreturn as justin hammer in armor wars!!!!
React to The Haunted Mansion (2023) movie next
Y’all should watch Iron Man 3
React to Barnyard movie
Ivan Vanko’s bird is a cockatoo, not a parrot.
A cockatoo is literally a type of parrot. Are you okay?
I could have been corrected without the additional comment, but, whatever.
12:25 It should be around 230 mph.
Garry Shandling is the underrated breakout star of this movie, he just portrays a sleazy douchebag senator so perfectly.
Textbook narcissism?…
Agreed!
Say what you will about Tony, but he's honest
Well, those are Formula 1 cars, and they can go around 240 MPH on a long enough straight away, HOWEVER, since they are almost never on a track where they can sustain top achievable speeds, and they NEVER race at places like Indianapolis or Daytona, their typical top speed rarely exceeds about 200 MPH, and in races like Monaco or Paris, that probably drops to around 170 MPH because of all the turns.
A man in an iron man suit gets twisted, which breaks his back and most likely rips his spine off his pelvis.
Nick and his girlfriend:😂😂😂
I think the EX WIFE could kill Whiplash but the main problem probably the distance, need to stand further from the target
