They have lots of stuff going on there, and they do seem to like RC quite much. In order to qualify for this, do they have to actually represent a "real" vehicle or just an interpretation of one? In other words, take that M-10 model-- is it a representation of a real M-10 that the modeler researched as far as markings and such or just an M-10?

No, it doesn't have to represent a real vehicle, but most of them usually are.
