I just put a new crank into my yamaha jog and it spinns freely without the vairiator on but as soon as the nut is torked down it stops the crank from moving any help would be appreciated ( all new parts from the vairator to the starter moter btw )

Check if the spacer is in place or or if there is enough clearance. There is a spacer behind the starter ring gear/plate.
